As for as your mother is concerned she needs to see a diabetologist so that dietary advice and appropriate medicines can be prescribed. As far your wife is concerned please ensure that she has a well balanced diet high in proteins like fish, chicken, pulses and keeps the wound site clean and dry.

Mr. Lybrate-user, diabetes at present can only be controlled by medications and exercise plus diet control there is no cure at least for now. May be for next few decades. Medication for a diabetes patient depends on blood sugar levels, type of dm, severity and weight. It has to be individualised. No common treatment can be suggested.

Apart from medications, you need to follow a strict low protein diet in order to bring down your creatinine levels. The normal creatinine level for adult is 0.5-1.2 mg/dl, and kidney disease patients should pay attention to their creatinine level. Once their creatinine level is higher than the normal level, they need to have effective treatment to lower it. In this article, we will introduce some common foods that can help decrease creatinine level. Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine, which is an important part of muscles, and creatinine is mainly removed from blood by kidneys. When the kidneys are damaged, the kidney function will fail to work well, and the creatinine level cant be excreted promptly. Creatinine level is often a sign of severe kidney damage. When the creatinine level is higher than the normal level, it means less than 50% kidney function for kidney disease patients. Cabbage, lettuce, garlic, onion, omega 3 fatty acid rich foods, cucumbers are best foods. Restrict non veg, and protein rich foods.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. The medicine that you are taking for high BP is not going to increase uric acid. Uric acid in blood is increased because of excess intake of purines in diet and taking organ meat, certain fishes, red meat etc. Thanks.

Back Brace A back brace or corset can provide excellent relief for most sciatica sufferers. Those who gain the most benefit are those who find their pain eases when they wrap/bind a towel or sheet (folded-lengthwise) tightly around their stomach and back. If this simple test eases your pain, you should use a back brace in the short-term. Back braces and strong deep core muscles help to avoid a recurrence in the future. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear Lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear MCR chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back. U have to take vitamin D RICH FOODS. Like milk, cheese, yogurt, brocoli, spinach. U need calcium consumption for increase the bone density.

Hello. Both the conditions are treatable if you follow the medical treatment religiously. Yes, there is definately increased risk, of infertility, but at the same time both are very common in the people and definately treatable. So no worries.

Inspite of taking 22 units of insulin in the evening and 50 units in the morning I find through Aviva Accu - check that my evening RPS is between 300 - 400 and the morning FPS is between 190 - 300. I do admit to a exercise bereft lifestyle but I keep a sharp check on my diet. Am I undergoing insulin resistance?

The very fact that you have diabetes means that insulin resistance has been present for a long time even prior to the diagnosis of diabetes in you. I personally feel that a few oral medicines can be tried out in you rather than taking huge doses of insulin. Also, do ensure that your insulin administration technique is correct. A lot depends on that. And lastly as you have mentioned of an exercise bereft lifestyle, even a small effort in starting exercise will go a long way in overcoming the insulin resistance. Wish you good health.

Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4.
