She is suffering from thyroid for 3 years now values are T3-93 T4-7.2 TSH -<0.01using Neo macronizole 10mg please tell what medicine and power to make it normal.

Mabashasji, Treatment of hyperthyroidism (Neomercazole 10 mg), has to continue for at least 12 to 18 months. If thyroid function returns to normal with TSH levels increasing, then drugs are stopped. In some cases, patients remain free of any symptoms for a fairly long time. In a few symptoms return in some moths, then other options of treatment are considered.

Mr Satyapal First thing is she should control her hypothyroidism very well. With treatment TSH level should be between 3 to 4 milli units/ml, If this is not achieved then dose of thyroxine has to be increased. secondly her diet should be restricted based on ideal body weight. Her present BMI is 25.6 kg which is slightly high, normal being 23 kg/M2. Regular exercise and diet control and proper thyroxine treatment should help. For increasing Hb % she should take Iron preparation for a few months.

Hypothyroidism slows down metabolism so you need to burn out more calories than you consume to create negative energy balance & lose weight. 1. Be physically active- take stairs instead of lift, walk instead of hiring transport, exercise daily for 1 hr, join aerobic/ dancing/ swimming/ karate classes 2. Take your medication regularly as prescribed by the doctor 3. avoid raw cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli) 4. Have small frequent meals (6-8) 5. Eat slowly & chew your food well 6. Avoid junk/ processed/ packaged/ canned/ sugary/ fried foods, cold drinks, alcohol, energy drinks, chocolate, ice cream, sweets, glucose, potato, sugar, sabudana 7. Have plenty of whole fruits & vegetables (raw , cooked, boiled) 8. Replace refined grains (maida, white bread, white rice, noodles, biscuit, cake, sewai) with whole grains (atta, dalia, suji, bajra, oats, barley, atta bread, brown rice, jowar) 9. Maintain a regular sleep cycle. Sleep & wake up early. 10. Use less oil in cooking

Hi, Type-2 Diabetes is a lifestyle related problem, so making a few lifestyle changes can lower the chances of developing type 2 diabetes. -Excess weight is the single most important cause of type 2 diabetes, so control or reduce your weight if you are overweight! -Avoid sedentary lifestyle and start get moving. Brisk walking for a half hour every day reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. -Modify your diet: *Choose whole grains and whole grain products over highly processed carbohydrates. The bran and fiber in whole grains make it more difficult for digestive enzymes to break down the starches into glucose. *Avoid sugary beverages which have a high glycemic load, and drinking more of this sugary stuff is associated with increased risk of diabetes. *Choose good fats instead of bad fats. Good fats found in liquid vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds. Trans fats or bad fats are found in many margarines, packaged baked goods, fried foods, fast or junk foods. *Limit intake of red meat and processed meats. Nuts, seeds, beans, tofu, or poultry are much more healthful protein choices. -Quit smoking. -Moderate alcohol consumption decreases the risk of type 2 diabetes. -Avoid taking unnecessary stress or tension! And keep an optimistic attitude in life! Medication: Take homoeopathic SBL’s Diaboherb medicine/ 3 times a day daily. Home Remedies: Dry the leaves of mango tree and grind to a powder. Mix 1 teaspoon dry powder in a glass of water and drink it daily to reduce high blood sugar levels. Take 2 teaspoons of bitter gourd (karela) juice once a day. One can also increase its use as a cooked vegetable. Take 1 teaspoon of Indian gooseberry (amla) juice mixed with 1 teaspoon of bitter gourd juice twice a day.

I am blood sugar patient for last three month. So what should I do to release from it?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

I am blood sugar patient for last three month. So what should I do to release from it?
Mr Sanjeet, If you have been diagnosed to have diabetes mellitus (T2), then only way to remain fit and healthy is to take prescribed medication regularly, without missing the dose, take a planned restricted diet, that gives exact calories based on your ideal body weight, sugar levels and extent of physical exercise. Avoid sweets, direct sugar and jaggery, deep fried foods, junk foods and pastries. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads, permitted fruits (100 g a day). Refrain from alcohol and smoking. This changed life style has to be adapted for your life. The disease does not go away, you have to learn to live with it.

I had sugar and I take sugar free gold regularly. Is any side effect occurs if I take it for lifetime?
Sugar free gold contains the artificial sweetener Aspartame, which has been shown to be safe for long-term use. However, simply getting used to drinking coffee/tea without sugar would be a better option.

Hi Mr. Lybrate-user, taking only medicines is not the solution towards controlling your sugar levels. For controlling your diabetes you have to follow proper diet, do some brisk walk along with medicines. These all 3 will work together and you will get to kwow how fit you can be. Controlling diabetes are important as fluctuations of sugar levels can cause many other problems also like heart problems, kidney disorder, etc. You need to follow a proper diet plan so that your sugar levels will be in normal range. There are some general guidelines you must follow till you consult for your own diet chart. 1. Avoid sugars. 2. Avoid simple carbohydrates like maida and its products, white rice etc 3. Have complex carbohydrates like whole wheat flour chapatis, oats, dalia, brown rice etc. 4. Avoid banana, chiku, mango, grapes. 5. Avoid fruits juices. 6. Avoid potatoes, sweet potato, arbi. 7. Have more salads and other vegetables. 8. Have small and frequent meals.

Hello, both the sugar levels are slightly on the higher side suggestive of igt - impaired glucose tolerance. Kindly tell me what is your height and weight. So initially we need to start with dietary modifications and repeat sugars after 1 month if they come down its fine. If sugars are persistently elevated and your bmi is high then some medications need to be started do hba1c blood test. This will show wat is our blood sugar status in previous six months, if this is elevated it will confirm diabetes. Diet: stop sweets, no potato, no beetroot. Daily 30 min walking or jogging, no grapes, banana and watermelon, rice once a day.
