I am 18 y/o male. Found one projection coming out of my anal opening three days ago. It is a hemorrhoid. I am taking Daflon 500 mg tablets twice a day (as consulted by my doctor). My constipation is gone now. But the size of the pile isn't shrinking. Will it go away if continue eating the tablets?

From your symptoms it seems that you had constipation / or straining in stools, which resulted in a small bleed in the skin region of anal opening (called thrombosed piles). Continue your medication for the period as advised (1- 2 weeks usually). Also take SITZ bath (that is sit in a tub of warm water) twice daily for 10 min each for about 2 -3 weeks Avoid constipation in future - you can take laxatives (ISabgol preferable for long periods) regularly for a period of 1 to 1.5 months. FOR THE PILE MASS TO SHRINK SHOULD REQUIRE A MINIMUL PERIOD OF 4 TO 6 WEEKS. So you do not need to worry, if you avoid constipation.

High uric acid levels in the blood stream can lead to a common form of arthritis called gout. To prevent gout, it is essential to maintain good eating habits and have proper medication. To reduce the uric acid levels in blood, you may need to limit intake of alcohol, sugary foods and reduce purine rich foods like meat, poultry, seafood and pulses. Vegetables such as cauliflower, asparagus, spinach, peas and mushroom also contain a lot of purines. Digestion of purine leads to the formation of uric acid. If uric acid is not eliminated normally which is seen in gout sufferers, it can build up in the blood stream leading to joint inflammation and pain. Water Water flushes out toxins including excess uric acid from the body. Have at least 10- 12 glasses of water daily. Cherries Cherries have anti - inflammatory substances named anthocyanis that help reduce uric acid levels .It prevents the uric acid from crystallizing and being deposited in the joints. Cherries also neutralize the acids and help prevent inflammation and pain. 200 gms per day is very effective in bringing down uric acid. Berries Berries especially strawberries, and blueberries have anti-inflammatory properties so include them in your diet. Apple Malic acid in apple neutralizes uric acid and thus provides relief to the sufferers. You should consume one apple daily after a meal. Lime The citric acid found in lime is a solvent of the uric acid .The juice of half a lime squeezed into a glass of water should be taken twice daily. French bean juice Another effective home remedy for gout is French beans juice. The healthy juice can be consumed twice everyday for treating gout or high uric acid. Celery seed This is a popular home remedy to lower uric acid levels in the body. Have celery seeds extract to get best results. Apple cider vinegar Drink apple cider vinegar. Add 3 teaspoons of vinegar to 8 ounces of water and have it 2-3 times every day to treat uric acid. Pinto beans A diet rich in folic acid can help lower uric acid naturally. Folic acid rich foods like pinto beans, sunflower seeds and lentils should be included in your diet. Vegetable juices Carrot juice in combination with beet and cucumber juice is also very effective .100 ml each of beet juice and cucumber juice should be mixed with 300 ml carrot juice and taken daily. Low fat dairy products like milk, curd help lower uric acid level. Foods rich in Vit C Include vitamin C rich foods and supplements in your daily diet to reduce uric acid in the body. It disintegrates uric acid and forces it out of the body through urine. Good sources of vitamin C are awla, guava, kiwi, sweet lime, oranges, capsicum, lemon, tomato and green leafy veg. High-fibre foods According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, adding foods high.

6 Things to Remember For Safe Sex

6 Things to Remember For Safe Sex

Getting to be intimate with someone is a great feeling as you can get to enjoy and explore each other’s bodies, mind and spirit. However it is also important that you avoid getting infected by sexually transmitted diseases. Although you are probably aware of how to protect yourself in general circumstances, you could be mistakes in the heat of the moment and fail or forget to use adequate protection. Always be safe, never sorry.

The following tips will help you stay safe, each time you have sex and should never be forgotten:

  1. Single partner and regular testing: The safest way to have sex is have a single partner and to ensure that neither of you have any form of STI (sexually transmitted infections). If you have been with multiple partners before then get yourself tested for STIs and STDs (sexually transmitted diseases).
  2. Bring your own condom (BYOC): Never rely on the partner to have dams, condoms or lube. It is highly recommended that you have your own supply and the expiration dates should be checked before usage.
  3. Contraception: In addition to condoms, other forms of contraceptives like cervical caps and contraceptive pills must be utilized to prevent unwanted pregnancy. One should also consider using female condoms.
  4. Lubrication: Even though friction during sex can help in elevating pleasure levels, it also increases the risks of infection. In order to prevent friction, try to use a lubricants during sex. Oil-based lube should not be used on a latex condom as it may cause breaks within. Water and Silicon based lubricants are better options
  5. Set personal boundaries: Having personal rules and boundaries around safe sex can be helpful in setting a standard for behaviour. Writing down what one personally approves of and doesn’t is helpful in setting proper boundaries around the concept of safe-sex. In case of a history of sexual abuse, it is important to contact a therapist or somebody close and opening up to them so they can initiate the process of recovering from it.
  6. Drink responsibly: It is important to consider the limit of alcohol and the people one chooses to drink with. It is also necessary to understand the concept of consent. You should not be or allowed to be pressurized into having sex.

It is important to understand the importance of safe sex and being able to speak up about sex without feeling any shame. Furthermore, it is important to understand your responsibilities in initiating safe sex and it is okay to find it difficult in the beginning. We have cultural stigmatization around sex and it is okay to be uncomfortable in the beginning, but it is equally important to develop the confidence to talk about sexual practices and safe-sex without guilt, shame or the fear of judgement.

Hello lybrate-user. I have gone through your question and can understand your concern. First of all there are many reasons which may lead to erectile dysfunction like BP, diabetes ,stress etc. In your case as you said that you had a normal physical relationship with your girlfriend. So it seems like a case of psychological impotency as it happened only with your wife. It is called selective impotency. I want to know did you try to establish physical relationship with anyone else after your wife. I would suggest you to consult a psychologist to overcome this problem.

I wanted to know about treatment options available for polycystic kidney disease. Is there any surgery option available to treat cyst which measures around 3.5 cm.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, M.Ch - Urology
Urologist, Mohali
Polycystic kidney doesn't require treatment per se. Most important is to keep monitoring kidney function because Polycystic kidney can lead to kidney failure. For a cyst of 3.5 cm again usually no treatment is required unless it is causing pain/infection /bleeding or there is some abnormality detected on ct scan.

It's wrong what you are saying about rubella. If a pregnant woman catches rubella, the infection can be passed to her baby. This can result in problems such as miscarriage and a range of birth defects known as congenital rubella syndrome.
