I started smoking in 2010 & i smoke quite a bit much than normal ( means avg. 10 cigarette per day ) so i just want to ask how many months or years it will take to come back to normal life / healthy life as i never smoked if i quit today. Also is there any medication available to quit ? please reply me

Yes. If u stop cigaratte u will be like before only in few weeks. For that u need to set a quit date. Dont be too much enthusiastic and keep the quit date as per ur convenience. It is not necessary that the quit date should be very close to the day u decide to quit smoking. Lower down ur cigaratte slowly, initially lower down the number per day than when it comes to 2-3 cigarates per day, u can increase the interval period between two cigarattes. Finally u will be able to quit. For craving u need to be highly motivated and still if u feel for cigaratte go for nicotene gums which is awailable in market. Take care

There is no need to be alarmed to this extent but you do need to develop some control over these desires because if left unattended and if you indulge in it, you may feed into impulses where you may one day lose control. Between the ages of 16 to 18 years, for a duration of almost exactly two years, all boys and girls will have a spurt in the production of the male sex hormone, testosterone. Due to this hormone there are three identified effects, all because of this chemical: you will become sexually active; you will become aggressive and rebellious; and you will all suffer acne and pimple problems. You have no choice because this is a body clock mechanism that gets activated and over the two years that it prevails, it will gradually subside and return to normal. But during this time you could (driven by the hormones) do something inadvertent that there may be no turning the clock back. So you need to exercise control and channelize this energy through games and sports and hobbies. Also, you would have developed secondary sexual characteristics and they seek to be used and seek fulfillment. Again this is not a problem but the drive can be very bad for those who do not have sufficiently well-developed value systems or a good conscience. These kids can lose control and become reckless. Most kids have a problem, like you do, around their sexual urges and may resort to acting out in the form of masturbation, pornography, and other sexual exploits. If you indulge in any of these you can get into a guilt trip or develop an addiction that may plague you for a long time. There is no threat to your mental well being. Your character will certainly be tested, and it will reflect your development in this regard. The best thing to do is to get a sex education from a counselor and ask all the questions you wish answered. Otherwise, you will want to experiment or seek information from your peers who are not adequately qualified to really do justice to your queries.

I am sorry for your loss. Feeling sad during this time is normal. There is nothing you can do other than giving yourself some time. After sometime you should be able to feel better and move ahead. But if the symptoms continue over few months then you should get yourself evaluated.

I am 25 years old male, I am getting much dreams (like my future, about family, or any other) all the night daily, I not able to feel that I slept for 8 hours, Its all about my mind is even running all the night. Dreams are the realm of the unconscious mind. Every body dreams every night but only some recall their dreams more than others; and some recall them very vividly. If you have indigestion, you are more likely to remember them. These dreams can be quite revealing or may mean nothing at all. So it is very subjective to the dreamer and his or her circumstances. You could take these dreams to a dream analyst for an interpretation to garner some meanings out of them. My concern is that there seems to be some stress associated with them, which means that these dreams have an element of emotions that may be seeking expression. So talk to a counselor about these emotions and take care of them regularly in the form of healthy expressions. You may also attempt to sleep on your left ear only and change your dreams into positive ones.

You all need to sit down together and talk about the reasons for getting get married to her husband. If she is not feeling sexually attracted to her husband, then it' s a loss for both of them as sex is an important need for all humans. If they are interested, then they can visit a sexologist and counsellor, who can help them understand how to consummate their marriage and if they are having any differences between each other then they can be sorted out with the help of a counsellor. Nowadays, however, some couples are ready to live together without consummating their marriage with each other. Yet they have sexual partners outside of their marriage. If your daughter and her husband are open to this solution then it can be worked out this way. They can also remain as friends or companions within the marriage without having sexual relationship with anyone at all. A marriage need not break over this issue.

Dear lybrate user. Anger and aggression are emotions. Anger comes when you become irritated. Irritation happens when you don't like something, or when something is repeated. As anger is an emotion, it should be vent out. You should be able to throw anger out instead of controlling it. But more perfect will be, know the frustrating situations and stop being emotional. If practiced properly, you will not get irritated at those circumstances at all. Those techniques are much easier to understand. I suggest anger management therapy. Take care.

Ideally you must send a lot of time convincing him to stop the smoking. Of course he will agree sometimes and sometimes he will change his mind. Giving up is difficult but if you highlight the dangers of smoking regularly he may one day decide to quit. Never give up on him. Because of the quantity of cigarettes smoked and the length of abuse, he will find is even more hard. When quitting, he must take one day at a time. If he looks too far ahead he will get discouraged and will give up. If he sits and counts the number of days he has given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. He must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if he fails one day, he must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. His persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But his desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms him about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and he must remind himself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So he must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for him. In fact it is highly toxic too. He will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. He should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time he feels like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. He may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. He may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep him occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that he has quit smoking. Here?s a piece of very good advice: even if he accidentally/willfully takes a cigarette, it is not the end of the world ? he can start the cessation all over again. He must persevere with the best support until he defeats this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest. Everyone who can help him should be involved until he succeeds.

I have been a regular smoker with around 10-12 cigarettes per day. I now have a regular cough and condition is worse in the evening and during morning as soon as I wake up. Recently I went unconscious many a times while coughing. Please suggest remedies and also I am now quitting smoking with around 3-5 cigarettes per day.

Best age to stop smoking is before 40 only by using strong will power and avoiding all situations where you feel like smoking, or drinking or using drugs avoiding friends who smoke and diverting mind by reading or chewing a gum, like nicorette and taking a walk when you crave for a smoke can all help. You can chew nicorette gum which is nicotine replacement.

Such conduct falls under Child Abuse, and should be reported to the police at the earliest. If confirmed, the teacher will be dismissed immediately, and the matter further investigated. The onus will then be on the accused teacher to prove his/her innocence. Good luck.
