If you depend on medicine it may continue throughout the years. It is not good depend on medicine. Sleeping pills get drowsiness, head weight, laziness, may happen. Our natural sleep is best to recovery from ourselves. If you stress. Then overcome from the stress take further remedial measures from the stress. Relax yourself, yoga, meditation will helps to you. Share the feelings with your friends and family members, entertain yourself, feel confident. Feel that it is my responsibility do not escape and do not depend on medicine. If you depend it may have addiction you have. You have very good capability to overcome from this status. Ok best of luck.

How To Know if it is DEPRESSION that You are Struggling With?

MD, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Delhi
How To Know if it is DEPRESSION that You are Struggling With?

How to identify you or your loved one might be struggling with Depression?

Most of us have faced the feeling of being weighed down by life's harsh realities and have been sad or low for a long while. It is very common to be upset for some time and most people recover from this feeling and start smiling again in a short span of time. But, if you or any of your loved ones are almost always very sad and this spirit is affecting your daily life considerably, then chances are you might be undergoing a phase of depression.

Here are certain signs to watch out for to determine whether you are struggling with depression.

1. Cultivation of a pessimistic approach about everything in life - You feel a sense of hopelessness and that your situation in life will always be the same without any improvement is a sure shot sign that you are suffering from depression.

2. Sudden variation in weight or appetite - If you suddenly find that you've lost or gained a significant amount of weight without any substantial reason, then chances are high that it is happening because of your depression.

3. A significant change in sleeping patterns - If you've been experiencing insomnia lately or have got a habit of oversleeping, then these might be symptoms of depression.

4. Feeling of guilt without any particular reason - If you have started feeling guilty or constantly blame yourself for everything you've done in the past then the reason behind this may be your state of depression.

5. Anger or irritated mood - Having a low level of tolerance, getting angry quickly or always being in an irritated mood can be a prominent sign of depression.

6. Displaying an uninteresting behaviour towards regular activities - If you no longer feel pleasure in pursuing your favourite activities or things from daily life like hobbies; socialising doesn't interest you anymore then it can be a warning sign for you. In such cases, you can visit a psychiatrist to get treatment for depression.

Dear lybrate user, welcome to lybrate. Memory and mind power depends mainly on three aspects. Understanding, storage and recollection. To understand what you are studying, you must be able to be attentive or concentrate. Concentration is possible when you are interested in that subject. Creative way of learning can help you concentrate and understand easily. When you are able to understand and concentrate, it is stored within your brain. If you read more and more it will be store in long term memory. Third part is retrieval. Whenever you want to retrive what you learned and stored, your brain gets the request, searches the database and retrieves the information for you. The retrieval may prove to be difficult if you are anxious, stressed, worried or tired physically or mentally. Retrieval is more easy when you are relaxed and healthy. Brain needs nutrients to keep itself sharp. Fruits, vegetables and dry fruits provide much needed nutrients for your brain. Include at least one fruit in your daily diet. Physical exercises, entertainment, hobbies, relaxation, memory games like sudoku etc help keep your memory sharp and active. Take care.

You are emotionally unstable. You need emotional therapy. You are suffering from psychological problem. Because of excessive internal frustrated thoughts. You are very easily getting angerness. Better to analyse your internal thoughts. If anything is secrecy or anything leads to dissatisfaction. Analyse that. Based on that take further steps to come out from this statues. Excessive angerness will not come without any reason. After analyse then take your environment very easily. Maintain calmness and pleasant manner. Better to practise yoga and meditation. Express your internal thoughts to your close friends and family member. Be sociable. Be happy all time. Do not maintain this status. It is always problematic to you. Better to come out from this status. Ok all the best.

Hi, I am student 15 years old And my father is not so good and he always angry on me and he creates mental problems for me. What is the cure? Please suggest.

Hi, I am student 15 years old And my father is not so good and he always angry on me and he creates mental problems...
You are a teenager and he may not want you to do some things that you would be doing. If you are doing some things that are potentially harmful for you then you might want to think through your actions. But if they are of exploratory nature and will not potentiallly harm you or others, then having a word with your father would be important to let him know of your intentions. If you also get angry with him, then he would be seeing it as disrespect. You can talk assertively next time and take responsibility of your actions as well. He might be worried about your future, so if you behave and act responsibly then probably he will see your point and back off. Counselling helps children and parents to communicate more effectively with fewer breakdowns in communication. Children could find out what they want from life and learn skills and tips to safely make a space for themselves in their world of friends and other people.

What could be the causes of dark circles under my eyes.
I do not drink
I do not smoke I am vegetarian I do sleep for ...
Some of the main causes behind the formation of dark circles are heredity, aging, dry skin, prolonged crying, working for long hours in front of a computer, mental or physical stress, lack of sleep and an unhealthy diet. Both men and women of different age groups can have dark circles.. you will have to visit a cosmetologist who will find the cause and give medicines accordingly

Dear lybrate user, agar aisa hai ki, aap ka bachha nursery ya play group me ja raha tha, aur ab nahi jana chahta, to ye thodi serious baat hai, aap ko usse baat karke ye janana padeka ki school mai aisa kya hua jo ab nahi jana chahta. Agar wo ab tak kabhi school nahi gaya ho, to baat itni serious nahi hai. Shayad kisi ne use school ke bare me kuch galat bataya hoga. Aap please use baat kar le aur uske man mein school ke bare mein kya vichar hai jan lijiye. Phir aap ka bachha jisi bhi insan/rishtedar ko chahta ho, unke school or college padhai ke bare mein bataiye. You will have to be little tactful with your child. Don't force your child to go to school, make some stories in such a way that the child should feel like going to school on his/her own. All the best.

Since my friend get ill she goes in depressions so that I am stressed. Please help me.

Ph. D - Psychology, Professional Certified Coach

Since my friend get ill she goes in depressions so that I am stressed. Please help me.
It seems that due to her illness feeling low. At this age sometimes even a small thing could create deeper trauma and emotional turmoil. I would suggest to take her to a counselor or a psychologist. She needs to talk to someone who can understand her situation and reassure her about her recovery. You can also suggest her to try following things. If you both can team up and so these things together it will be easier for her. And of course if will benefit you as well as you are also feeling quite a lot of stress yourself. One or other kind of stress has become part of our life these days. Due to stress we start having more negative thoughts and emotions. The good news is that our mind could be wired to switch back to positive things and resilience building. When things does not happen as we wish or people do not behave as we expect that is when out of disappointment, frustration, loneliness, anger, sadness. Etc we react and our mind starts thinking negative thoughts. Changing this pattern of responding to stressful situation requires both persistence and patience. Also you will only be able to work on this out of love and kindness towards you. Strong motivation will go a long way. Writing a statement about how would you want to respond in a similar situation and how will your life and your happiness will change if you do learn to manage your stress and how to respond to it. Once that is clear. Try following things to learn relaxation response which leads to better coping mechanism on a daily basis. To begin with doing guided progressive muscular relaxation before sleeping will help you relax. You could google and download an audio file. I would also suggest you to take a multiple small break to take 3 nice and deep breath while keeping your eyes closed. You could do this while sitting or standing or while even walking or climbing stairs (keep your eyes open in that case). When you take a nice and deep break there is actual physiological change in your body. This will help you to activate parasympathetic nervous system which promotes relaxation and helps you calm down and think more clearly. This will also actually improve your performance in your work. Along with this exercise is one of the best way to relive stress and stay fit. Engage in any kind of physical activity at least 4 times a week. This also helps in stress reduction. Along with this some relaxation exercises as well as engaging in joyful activities such as music, singing, dancing, reading, being in nature, gardening, talking with friends or anything which you enjoy will help reducing stress and rejuvenation of your mind and body. Have good routine for sleep and eating. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Along with this also increase consumption of raw vegetables in the form of salad in both the meals of your day.

Am I depressed or having psychological illness? I have almost stopped all socializing for past 5 months. I don't like to drink. No addictions. I have started meditation. It was inner calling. I like to spend most of my times now reading. Net researching on higher meanings of life. Psychic development. .practising different meditation. Some times I do get stressed and agitated with results being slow. But I discipline myself to keep on researching. I am new to this new age meditation but nothing else in the world excites me anymore. I don't want to travel and see the world. I just want to keep on concentrating on developing my inner energies. Is this all normal? My healer guru travels and goes to ashrams. But I am super focused on just myself. I have developed reasonable telekinesis and telepathic skills till now. But I hardly go out anymore because everything and everyone saps my energy more. I like to just live in my bubble. I live in a posh apartment locality and most find me egoist not to mix with anymore. I owe noon any explanation. I have started doubting my social behaviour? .Do I need to have a balanced way of life Or Is this Ok? Kindly be blunt and honest in your opinion.

There is a certain limit to finding yourself. We are all social animals and need each other. When we learn something new about ourselves, we want to share it with others. This extent of withdrawal is not normal. You must learn how to live and love people. Otherwise you are confining yourself to your own comfort zone but this will soon feel lonely and boring. We are all made for relationships and if you are not in one, you will become an isolate. All this can lead to depression too. So go out and meet the world and enjoy all the pleasures of relating and loving people.
