Due to radial fracture in elbow doctors advised to implant stainless steel or titanium. Which one should I go for and why.

MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Hyderabad
Hi , stainless steel is not the material but it is an alloy of steel called 316l which is used for manufacturing of orthopaedic implant. Titanium is off late latest development and has definitely many advantages. But. Owing to the type of fixation and nature of bone, the doctor who has an access to x ray would better advise you the implant. Titanium would be costlier but at times is better. 316l is not bad though!

, go for ayurveda's panchkarma therapy - we have many option for you - kati basti (specialised panchakarma procedure for backpains), localised massgae with herbal oils, localised medicated steam, pottali massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax your back muscles and give strength to your nerves and muscles of back. Also start some yogic exercises - tadasana, dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. This will greatly help. Please avoid pushing / pulling heavy objects, long sittings, long two-wheeler drives. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking.

Most probably you are suffering from oa of knee. Knee surgery-total knee replacement (tkr) is quite safe & gives uniformly good results. Surgery should be done when patient is still active & will be able to take benefit of surgery. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem. Kindly show me x- rays before a final decision can be taken. You will be thoroughly investigated before surgery is under taken. Risk in surgery is less than the risk in crossing road. Why not discuss with me in a video conferee? (facility provided by lybrate. Com)

Try few things for temporary relief of your back pain: -avoid activities that require bending forward at the waist or stooping. -try to avoid lifting objects if at all possible. -sit as little as possible, and only for short periods of time (10 to 15 minutes). -sit with a back support (such as a rolled-up towel) at the curve of your back. -keep your hips and knees at a right angle. (use a foot rest or stool if necessary.) your legs should not be crossed and your feet should be flat on the floor. -Activity is often the best medicine for back pain. “Simple exercises like walking can be very helpful -Strengthen your core. Most people with chronic back pain would benefit from stronger abdominal muscles. -Apply heating pads to comfort tender trunks. Developing an individualized exercise plan is essential to managing chronic back pain. Please get help from a physiotherapist for further assessment and management of your back pain.
