Hello lybrate user, - as preventive measures you can follow few things like - maintaining position of back while sitting, traveling etc -careful while lifting heavy weight without back support - avoid some foods like potato, brinjal, peas, etc which are told to avoid in ayurveda - daily application if some medicated oils keeps our body strengthy. - for the present pain, apply mahanarayana taila and do hot fomentation for 15 min for 10 days. -if it is muscular pain then it will relieve by that time, if not go for x-ray to rule out bone or disc involvement thank you.

One of the reasons that insomnia is high stress levels and time pressures associated with modern living. Many people complain of insomnia, with stress during the day making them too tense or worried to be able to fall asleep at night. Lack of sleep, in turn, creates more stress on the job and at home. However, it is important to know at the outset that not all people require the same amount of sleep. Sleeping cycles vary among people and throughout a person’s life. Restful sleep is one of the three pillars of ayurvedic healing, the other two being diet and lifestyle. Causes: There are many causes that a person is not able to sleep properly. Insomnia mainly results due to mental disturbances. Any type of body pain, uncomfortable weather or surroundings, some disease also results in to insomnia. Overwork and extreme worries may also cause lack of sleep. People who have a history of improper digestion, constipation and habits of eating irregularly are Treatment of Insomnia: Some lifestyle changes and herbal medicines can help treat the problem. You can try these time-tested remedies: •- Do some exercise everyday—but never late in the evening. •- Avoid caffeine in all forms, especially after lunch time. •- Avoid taking naps during the day. •- Drink buffalo milk. It contains rich amounts of an amino acid, L-tryptophan, which induces sleep. •- Take a nice, long, warm bath before bed-time. Charaka Samhita says that bath is the best remedial measure to counteract exertion. •- Read a book or do some repetitive, calm activity such as chanting a mantra. Japa etc. •- Avoid distractions that may hold your attention and keep you awake, such as watching a suspense movie or a thrilling game, TV serials. •- Make your bedroom comfortable. Create a quiet, dark atmosphere. Use clean, fresh sheets and pillow and keep the room temperature comfortable. •- To balance Vata, gradually introduce regularity into your lifestyle. Eating, sleeping, working, and exercising at the same hours promotes harmony. By varying routines with the seasons, you can better adjust to changes in the environment and climate. Ayurvedic Herbs for Insomnia The useful herbs for the treatment of insomnia are:- Brahmi: It is a powerful brain tonic, which supports and improves all aspects of mental functioning. It is a calming and tranquillizing herb. A cup of brahmi tea or powder or any other preparation with brahmi, taken at bedtime, will induce a peaceful sleep and its regular use will help to cure insomnia. Aswagandha: This is an overall tonic for greater vitality and longevity. It enhances coordination between the mind and senses which, according to Ayurveda, is essential for good sleep. Effective Ayurvedic Treatment For Low Back Pain

Effective Ayurvedic Treatment For Low Back Pain

Ayurveda is an ancient healing technique that is very effective for today's lifestyle ailments. For many people, low back ache can be troublesome. While strong pills and capsules may give you temporary relief, they do not address the core issue and have a number of side effects. Ayurveda on the other hand, addresses the trigger and has no side effects.

Intrigued! Take a look at these Ayurvedic techniques to cure low back pain:

  • Cut out on spices: We may think it unrelated, but low back pain is often accompanied by indigestion. Spinal cord nerves connect to back muscles and digestive organs. Hence, a small change in your diet can have a great impact on your health. Spicy food aggravates the digestive system and has a drying effect on the body. By cutting back on spices and oil, the digestive system can work better and there will be less stress on the nerves connecting the spinal cord and back muscles and thus result in lesser back aches.
  • Warm your body: According to Ayurveda, back pains are caused by an increase in vata dosha or the amount of air and ether elements in the body. Warming the body can help lower these levels. Apply a heat pack to the back as a way of keeping the external body surface warm. Additionally, add warm food to your diet. This opens out any blockages in your digestive system and in turn reduces low back pain.
  • Padahastasana: Ayurveda is very closely linked to yoga. Padahastasana is a yoga asana which addresses lower back pain by opening up the digestive channels and allowing the vata dosha to flow easily through the body. To practice this asana, stand with your legs together and lift your arms straight above your head while inhaling. As you exhale, bend forward from the hips while keeping your back and legs straight. Try and touch your toes. Hold the position for as long as possible and come back to the starting position while inhaling.
  • Anuloma Viloma: Anuloma Viloma is a breathing exercise that balances the vata dosha. This is a technique that involves breathing from alternate nostrils. To begin, close the right nostril with your thumb and inhale through the left nostril. Close both nostrils and hold your breath for a few seconds. Then, release through the left nostril. Repeat this process, starting from the left nostril.
  • Bishop's weed seed tea: Tea made from the seeds of Bishop's weed is can provide instant pain relief from low back pains. This is suitable for men and women of all ages except those with heart problems.

The core principle of Ayurveda is to listen to your body's messages. These techniques will help you become more tuned to your body's needs and keep you free from back aches.

Severe depression can make one feel helpless and life worthless to live. How ever let me assure you depression like any other illness is treatable and once you are out of it, life is worth living. I would sincerely suggest you to talk to anyone you trust and consult a psychiatrist. Start treatment urgently along with counseling. Also follow some suggestions - never stay alone - ask some one to stay with you 24 x 7 - whenever you have negative thoughts, don't keep it to you, just talk it out with anyone - be with family, friends and people who comfort you consult again in case of any queries or assistance required.

Hunching over a desk is a leading reason why people end up with crippling back pain at some point in their lives, specially for those who has desk job. But a few simple changes in the way you work can make your pain go away. 1-Keep your head up; Focus on aligning your head and neck right above your shoulders; avoid straining forward. 2-Be choosy with your chair: Pick one that allows your lower back to rest against a lumbar support. Then tilt the back of the chair so it’s very slightly reclined. 3-Plant your feet: Keep them flat on the floor and shoulder-width apart to quiet tension in your knees and ankles. 4-Take breaks: Getting up at least once an hour— just do some shoulder rolls—reduces pressure on spinal disks and boosts circulation. If your back pain is severe please go to a Physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your pain. Best wishes.
