Premature greying is greying before the age of 30 yr. After that it is natural physiological process. There are various reasons involved in it. Genetic inheritance is the main causative reason. Stress, nutritional deficiency esp vitamin b, thyroid problem triggers it further. Oiling is very important as it helps in conditioning the scalp. Protein rich food is good for hair. Melanin ; the pigment which gives colour to hair is also produce through protein. Sprouts, beans, nuts give proteins. Green leafy vegetable support iron. Drinking 3 lit of water /day helps to support minerals.

I am suffering from hair fall problem for last four years and baldness problem also.
While your hair mostly depends on your genetics; stress, hormonal imbalance and poor diet have a great influence on your hair growth. Start by following a good diet - Eat adequate amount of protein. Your hair is made up mainly of proteins. Include skimmed milk, cottage cheese, lentils in diet. Vitamin C, Zinc and Vitamin B are other important nutrients for great hair health. So include lot of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your daily diet. Next important step is to follow good hair care - Oiling your hair with a mixture of oils like olive, sesame, coconut and castor oil keeps provides moisture to your hair and prevent them from drying and breakage. Once in a week apply a good hair mask. You can mix and prepare different types of masks using green tea, olive oil, milk, gooseberry, etc. You can also start with zinc and biotin supplements. Amla juice will also help to control hair loss.

Chemical Peels - What To Know?

Fellow of ACSI , Fellow of IADVL , MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy, MBBS

Chemical Peels - What To Know?

A lot of teenagers face common skin problems such as acne, which leave behind scars that appear worse with time. There are many products available in medical stores to treat acne, but not all are effective. With advancements in the cosmetic industry, it is now possible to improve the appearance of the skin on the hands, neck and face. Chemical peels, where a chemical solution is applied to the skin, are used for this purpose. The chemical solution exfoliates the skin and it eventually peels off. The old skin which is wrinkled and less smooth is regenerated and the skin is now smooth and flawless. The use of chemical peels is safe and they work wonders to your skin.

Types of Chemical Peels and their Use
Chemical Peels are also known as BHA (beta-hydroxy corrosive) or AHA (alpha-hydroxy corrosive). It is a treatment that can be performed on your skin to exfoliate it. They are mainly used to attain smooth skin. The first peel is superficial. The medium peel, which is used for the second level of intensity mainly targets the damaged skin cells. The effect is used on central as well as external layers of skin mainly to remove wrinkles, freckles and age spots.

The third type of chemical peel is the deep peel which infiltrates into the skin deeply. It helps to treat wrinkles, skin discoloration and spots. It is also useful in removing shallow scars as it can reach deeper and distinctive results can be attained in comparison to any other treatment. It is very important that this treatment using deep peels is done by a well-qualified cosmetic surgeon.

Conditions Treated By Chemical Peels
Skin appearance can be improved to a great extent by the use of chemical peels. These help to reduce fine lines around the mouth and under the eyes. They are also used to treat wrinkles that are caused due to aging and sun damage. Mild scars can also be removed using chemical peels and they can even treat certain types of acne. They are beneficial in reducing dark patches that occur due to pregnancy. The feel and look of the skin can be improved with these peels. The peels are very sensitive to skin and it is very important that you make use of a sunscreen every day as it protects the skin against UVB and UVA rays of the sun.

Individuals having severe wrinkles and sagging skin must not opt for chemical peels as their skin does not respond to them. In such cases, it is best to make use of surgical procedures such as facelift or laser resurfacing methods. However, it is best to consult a dermatologist surgeon in this matter to determine the best treatment. They are good anti-ageing weapons and are beneficial in treating uneven skin tone, acne prone skin and pigmentation disorders.

My hair's are very soft and it's look like I m bald and suffering from hair fall problem can you please help me out.
Lustrous, beautiful and healthy hair is a result of a healthy body and a healthy diet Foods high in protein are soy, tofu, dairy products like milk, curd, paneer, cheese, nuts, oilseeds, beans and pulses. Lifestyle changes 1. Along with a healthy hair diet it is important that you exercise properly as it will ensure that there is proper blood flow to your scalp and will help in the growth of hair.  2. Treat your hair delicately. Avoid unnecessary brushing, combing or handling. Use a soft, round bristles brush.  3. Have a weekly scalp massage to provide stimulation to the hair follicles. 4. Have regular trims to eliminate split ends and allow the hair to look and feel healthier. 5. Get plenty of rest and sleep to allow your body to grow hair. Follow the diet plan given below as a starting point for healthy and lustrous hair. Breakfast  Skim milk / soy milk Whole grain bread or toast or poha or breakfast cereal or sprout Bowl of fresh fruit Morning snack Fresh vegetable juice like carrot or cucumber juice Handful of nuts like walnuts, soaked almonds, raisins, dates Lunch Fresh veg. Soup or salad  Whole-wheat flour or jowar or bajra chapatti Green veggies  Dals or whole pulses Brown rice Curd / tofu Afternoon snack 1 glass skim milk  Kurmura or roasted channa or popcorn Evening snack Fresh veggies and fruit juice (carrot, apple, lemon, dudhi, palak) Dinner  Fresh veggie soup or salad with sprouts Chapati Vegetable Buttermilk Bedtime snack  Fruit like watermelon or banana  Use natural substitutes like fruits, dates, figs or honey instead of sugar. Acne and pimples in my face not too much but at an average level please help me to remove it.

Acne and pimples in my face not too much but at an average level please help me to remove it.
Acne usually subsides after adolescence, but may last into middle age. Scarring may occur if severe acne is not treated. Some people, especially teenagers, can become significantly depressed if it is not treated. Homeopathic treatment has very encouraging results in acne and pimples and gives relief in long term. Moreover all medications are natural, safe, gentle, effective, easy to administer and without any adverse effects. With homoeopathic medicines, also take the following self-care steps to lessen the effects of acne: clean your skin gently with a mild soap removing all dirt or make-up. Wash many times a day with plain water. Try not to squeeze, scratch, pick, or rub the pimples. Although it might be tempting to do this, it can lead to scarring and skin infections. Avoid touching your face with your hands or fingers. Identify and avoid anything that aggravates pimples. Your triggers may include foods, lotions, or make-up. Avoid greasy cosmetics or creams. Look for water-based or" non-comedogenic" formulas. Take make-up off at night. Homeopathic treatment is strongly recommended for patients who are desperately looking for an effective remedy. If you have any specific question about your condition, consult for treatment.

Baking soda peel your skin, it may works on your spot but soda may cause a reaction on your skin and burn. So avoid all these experiments with your skin. For a good and glowing skin, take a proper sleep, lot of water, green vegetables and fresh fruits avoid sunrays without wearing a sunscreen. Wear a broad hat or cover your face whenever you step out in the sun. Apply good quality broad spectrum sunscreen or alovera gel, calamine lotion.

Hello doctor, Though my thyroid level is normal, my weight does not reduce and I have got acne too, what should I do?

MBBS, Diploma in Diabetology

Hello doctor,
Though my thyroid level is normal, my weight does not reduce and I have got acne too, what should I do?
This could be due to pcos (excessive weight) and insulin resistance. Get your insulin fasting and hba1c test done. Diet and exercise is key to loose weight. Consult any diabetologist for weight loss medication if you are not able to loose weight even after 3 months of diet and exercise.
