I am 28 year old male and have a pain in my right shoulder for last 1 months. So what should I do?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are multiple causes of shoulder pain which can include issues in ligaments, tendons, bursa or the joint itself. I will advise you that if you have a localized pain in your shoulder without any history of recent significant injury or any associated swelling, redness or any other sign of infection or inflammation, then start with physical therapy, anti inflammatory medications and ice packs at home because most of these pains are due to tendinitis, bursitis or ligaments etc. See if your pain starts improving in 2-3 weeks time, then its ok otherwise I advise mri of the shoulder to see whats going on. Also try to avoid sporting activities using the involved shoulder, rest to shoulder is important. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Measure your temperature daily 3 times a day for atleast 1 week. Repeat CBC, ESR, CRP, TSH and also for TB, SLE, Sarcoidosis, or Systemic illnesses. Consult a physician again. Once any infections ruled, you could be having Chronic fatigue Syndrome, which is a post viral malaise like illness. Once all are ruled out, You could be suffering from Somatic Illness which is a physical illness of psychiatric origin. Consult a psychiatrist

I am 29 years old male. I am having knee pain and muscle pain in legs since 3 yrs. I showed one of an orthopedic doctor, he says its nothing but because of my flat feet, I am wearing insoles in shoes (6 months use) as suggested by him, but no improvement. I work in a office where I have to sit all day on a chair. On holidays my plain reduces, but again on weekdays it grows. Its not severe, I can run and walk much. But when I rest, it feels like pain a lot. I have thalassemia minor, no allergy, no operation and had minor knee injury during childhood days. Help me out.

Knee advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).
