World TB Day Special - How to Prevent Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis is absolutely curable and can be cured with anti-TB medication. As treatment for TB takes much longer than other types of bacterial infections, a patient is often required to take a combination of drugs for six to nine months.

Here is how you can safeguard yourself against Tuberculosis:

1) Maintain strong immunity by adopting healthy eating habits, exercising regularly and getting sufficient sleep.

2) Diet supplemented by turnips, beet root, spinach and other green vegetables and seasonal fruits along with dairy products and eggs can be helpful is fighting against the TB bacteria.

3) Go for a check-up if you suspect that you could be suffering from TB. Typical symptoms include a persistent cough (more than 3 weeks) and low grade fever.

4) If someone you know has contracted TB, encourage him or her to adhere faithfully to the treatment.

However if you have been diagnosed with active TB, please ensure the following:

1) Complete the entirefull course of your TB medications.
2) Stay at home especially during the first two weeks of treatment.
3) Cover your mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and wear a mask when around people during the first few weeks of treatment.

What Indian cooking oils are good for 1) deep frying 2) other forms of cooking like making vegetables and upma etc.

What Indian cooking oils are good for 1) deep frying 2) other forms of cooking like making vegetables and upma etc.
In India, since time immemorial, the oil you use in your kitchen is largely dependent on where you come from. In Kerala, it's coconut oil, in Andhra and Rajasthan, it's sesame oil, in the east and north they use mustard oil and in central India and Gujarat groundnut oil is used. Different cultures eat differently and the type of oil fits beautifully into the food landscape of that region. Extra virgin olive oil or pumpkin seed oil can be used for salad dressings. A little ghee can be used on hot rotis and chapatis. Sunflower, safflower or corn oil can be used for making curries and mustard or coconut oil for other traditional cooking. The secret is to keep a measure of the total amount of oil used for the entire cooking of the day for a family and then correlate that with the age group and requirements of family members. Also, a rotation of sunflower oil to peanut oil or rice bran oil and vice versa can be helpful.

Last year three times I suffered from Gout. My uric acid was high to the tune of 13. I consulted some doctors and got treatment. Every time I suffered from Gout, I took Zyloric 100 mg three times a day for two weeks and got relief. Later on I changed my eating habits and started consuming Gluten free food. Now my uric acid is around 3. But for last few weeks though I am not on medication, nor my uric acid is high, joints of my fingers (palms as well as feet) ache on moving, more especially right and left hand thumb. Can anybody suggest good treatments consisting less of medicines ?

The best treatment of gout consists of restoring the balance of vata (air element) and detoxifying the blood. High protein diet should be avoided in cases of increased uric acid. Mix one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink it two to three times daily. If you find this remedy helpful, you can increase the dosage of apple cider vinegar to up to two tablespoons. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take maha yograj guggul 1-1 twice a day. Kaishor guggul and chandraprabha vati 1-1 twice a day. Avoid junk food. Fermented food. Spicy food. Tea. Coffee. Do pranayama early morning. Avoid alcohol consumption.

Can Diabetes patients opt for homeopathic treatment .not for diabetes but I have gout and the problem of knee pain persists. But most homeopathic medicines are in the form of sugar pills (white small balls of sugar dipped in some medicine) .would it not affect my sugar levels?

Even though the Homeopathic pills are made of sugar, they do not cause any rise in sugar levels as they are not heavily loaded with calories. The Homeopathic treatment is based on totality of symptoms and therefore also help in bringing back vitality and strength naturally thereby helping better control of blood sugar. One must also take care of the daily habits. Healthy Diet and daily exercise (include Yoga and pranayam for better results) are essential parts of the treament. You can contact me for further details about Homeopathic treatment if interested.
