I am 39 year old male suffering from stomach pain.

Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), PGDD, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S), General Physician
Dietitian/Nutritionist,
I am 39 year old male suffering from stomach pain.
There are a various causes for stomach problems, treatment depends on the location, severity and type of pain. Laboratory tests such as the complete blood count (cbc), liver enzymes, pancreatic enzymes (amylase and lipase), urinalysis are frequently performed in the evaluation of abdominal pain. If you have h. Pylori infection for which I can prescribe a 14 day treatment plan which will eliminate it. Untreated infection causes ulcers in stomach and may finally lead to cancer. If your pain is occurring once in a year and not regular then such types of pain could be amoebic infection, worm infestation or premenstrual cramps. If pain is occurring frequently then get ultrasound abdomen done.

Hi I'm a male I want to look very fair and have beautiful skin I want my face, hands, legs and body skin to look fair and glowing, clear and beautiful wat should I use please suggest. Me please help.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Hi I'm a male I want to look very fair and have beautiful skin I want my face, hands, legs and body skin to look fair...
Everyone has a favourite face cream or treatment, but beautiful skin starts with nourishment from within. Older cells are constantly shed and replaced by younger ones and a steady supply of micronutrients is essential to support this rapid growth. Eat the correct balance of foods and you'll feed your skin the vital nutrients it needs to help it stay soft, supple and blemish-free. Eat your five-a-day Fruit and vegetables contain powerful antioxidants that help to protect skin from the cellular damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are caused by smoking, pollution and sunlight and can cause wrinkling and age spots. Eat a rainbow of colourful fruit and vegetables and aim for at least five portions a day. Betacarotene, found in pumpkin, carrots and sweet potatoes, and lutein, found in kale, papaya and spinach are potent antioxidants, important for normal skin cell development and healthy skin tone. Vitamin C Vitamin C is also a super antioxidant. It is needed for a strong immune system, radiant skin and helps blemishes heal properly. The best sources are blackcurrants, blueberries, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, oranges, papaya, strawberries and sweet potatoes. They all help to produce collagen that strengthens the capillaries that supply the skin. Cut out crash diets Repeatedly losing and regaining weight can take its toll on your skin, causing sagging, wrinkles and stretch marks. Crash diets are often short in essential vitamins too. Over long periods of time this type of dieting will reflect on your skin. Stock up on selenium Selenium is a powerful antioxidant. It works alongside other antioxidants such as vitamins E and C and is essential for the immune system. Studies suggest that a selenium-rich diet can help to protect against skin cancer, sun damage and age spots. One way to boost your intake is to eat Brazil nuts. Just four nuts will provide the recommended daily amount (RDA). Mix Brazil nuts with other seeds rich in vitamin E as a snack or salad sprinkle. Other good sources are fish, shellfish, eggs, wheatgerm, tomatoes and broccoli. Vitamin E Vitamin E protects skin from oxidative (cell) damage and supports healthy skin growth. Foods high in vitamin E include almonds, avocado, hazelnuts, pine nuts and sunflower and corn oils. Drink up Skin needs moisture to stay flexible. Even mild dehydration will cause your skin to look dry, tired and slightly grey. Drink six to eight glasses of water a day - all fluids count towards your daily allowance, but water is the best. If you work in an office, keep a large bottle of water on your desk to remind you to drink. Herbal, caffeine-free teas are good too. Try to avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, both can age the skin. Don't be afraid of fat Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats - the types found in avocados, fish, nuts and seeds - provide essential fatty acids which act as a natural moisturiser for your skin, keeping it supple. These fats also come packaged with a healthy dose of vitamin E (a vitamin many of us lack), which will help protect against free radical damage. Eat more phyto-estrogens Phyto-estrogens are natural chemicals found in plant foods (phyto meaning plant). They have a similar structure to the female sex hormone oestrogen and have been found to help keep our natural hormones in balance. There are different types, some are found in soya bean products (isoflavones), whereas others are found in the fibre of wholegrains, fruit, vegetables and flax seeds (lignans). Include phyto-estrogen rich soya, wholegrains, fruits and vegetables as part of a balanced diet. Opt for omega-3 Make sure you get enough omega-3 and omega-6 fats. These are essential fatty acids which mean they cannot be made in the body and must be obtained through the diet. You will find omega-3s in oily fish and plant sources such as flaxseed oil, linseeds, walnut and rapeseed oil. Omega-3 fats encourage the body to produce anti-inflammatory compounds, which can help skin, particularly inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psorasis. Go for low-GI carbs Eat plenty of beans, pulses, porridge and other slow-releasing carbohydrates. These release sugar into the blood stream gradually, providing you with a steady supply of energy and leaving you feeling satisfied for longer and therefore less likely to snack. Avoid high GI carbohydrates like biscuits and sugary drinks, as they lead to production of insulin, which may damage collagen and accelerate wrinkles. Don't forget zinc Zinc is involved in the normal functioning of the sebaceous glands in the skin (which produce oil) and helps to repair skin damage and keep skin soft and supple. Zinc-rich foods include fish, lean red meat, wholegrains, poultry, nuts, seeds and shellfish. HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT AUCARE COMPLEXION DROPS ( WOLFE DIETRI) Drink 20 drops in 20 ml fresh water 3 times daily. WHITENING CREAM ( BIOVALLEY)Apply in circular fashion in morning nd at night WHITENING SOAP ( BIOVALLEY ) Wassh face with this face wash before applying whitening cream SUNCARE CREAM ( BAKSON ) Apply 30 minutes before going outsside nd again reapply after 3-4 hrss after washing with whitening soap

My body is to slim and week what I do to make it healthy and fit. Give me some congestion.
Hi! If you are slim then it is ok but if you are slim and weak then don't ignore. Eat eggs, nonvegetarian, milk and dry fruits like cashews and almonds Eat ghee based home prepared sweets Add cheese and paneer to your diet Drink water( 4 to 6 glasses) Join gym you can improve your fitness. Some people that have high metabolic rate they don't gain weight how much ever they eat. If you fit in to that category please don't worry But don't go for any weight gaining pills or tonics etc they are very dangerous in the long run. If you are healthy and free of diseases then be great full for that Don't worry about the rest

Precautions for diabetic patients during Ramzan fast

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
“Patients with type 1 diabetes should avoid fasting. However, those type 2 diabetes can fast,”
All diabetic patients who fast should be aware of certain facts if they fast during Ramzan, he further added.
All patients with diabetes should consult with their family physician regarding the Ramzan fast and learn the warning symptoms.
Type 2 diabetes will be controlled by diet and may require no special precautions.
Patients at risk of diabetes should avoid overeating to prevent post meal high blood pressure, after the predawn and/or sunset meal.
The exercise program for patients with diabetes on diet control should be modified to avoid lower blood sugar level. Exercise should be done 2 hours after the sunset meal.
Food restriction and dehydration may cause some cardiac risk in the elderly.
The choice of drugs in diabetes may require consultation with a doctor. Drugs that act by increasing the production of insulin are to be preferred. Some patients on metformin may fast safely with minimal complications. However, two-thirds of the total daily dose should be given just before the sunset meal and rest one-third before the predawn meal. Patients on pioglitazone may require no change in dose. Patients on sulfonylureas may require medical clearance before commencing fast.
Insulin dose also needs to be modified during the fast. Usually two doses of insulin, one before each meal, are sufficient.
If the blood sugar falls below 60, then the fast should be immediately broken.
Fast should also be broken if blood sugar rises to more than 300.
Patients should avoid fasting on sick days.

Steps Involved in Knee Replacement Procedure

M. Ch. (Ortho), MS - Orthopaedics, MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Steps Involved in Knee Replacement Procedure

Knee replacement is a procedure where the weight-carrying surfaces of knee joint are replaced surgically to ease the pain or any disability. People suffering from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis undergo knee replacement. All these conditions revolve around stiffness and painful knee. This surgery is usually performed on people aged over 50.

Surgery Types:
Knee replacement is mainly of two main types:

  1. Total knee replacement where both the sides of knee joints are replaced
  2. Partial knee replacement where only single side of the joint is replaced

Procedure: In case of partial knee replacement with minimal invasion, a smaller incision, which is 3 to 5 inches, is required. This leads to minimal tissue damage and the surgeon can work between the fibres of the quadriceps muscles. Here, an incision through the tendon is not required. This may result in less pain, recovery time is reduced, and motion is better as scar tissue formation is less.

In total knee replacement, four steps are performed:

  1. Removal of damaged cartilage surfaces, which is at the ends of the femur and tibia, with a small quantity of underlying bone.
  2. Replacement with metal components, which help as a recreated surface of the joint
  3. Incision of knee cap with a resurface made of a plastic button, which is optional based on the case
  4. Insertion of a medical grade plastic spacer amid the metal components. This creates an effortless gliding surface.

After general or spinal anaesthesia, an incision of 8-12 inches is made in the front part of the knee. Joint part which is damaged is removed from the surface of the bones. The surfaces are then formed in a way to hold a metal or plastic artificial joint. The thigh bone shin as well as knee cap is attached to the artificial joint with either cement or a special material.

After Effects of the Procedure: After the surgery, patients may stay in a hospital for three to five days. Post surgery, notable improvement can be seen after a month or later. The patient is gradually relieved from pain with the construction of new gliding surface during surgery.

There will be slow progress in the movement. In the beginning, one may walk with a support of parallel bars and then with the help of crutches, walker, or cane. After full recovery in about six weeks, people can enjoy normal activities except running or jumping.

Presently, over 90% of total knee replacements function well even after 15 years of surgery. Hence, knee problem is no problem at all!

Dear Dr. you suggested me to exercise weekly 4 times for reduce belly fat after cesarean but which exercise can I do.

MSc
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Chandigarh
Dear Dr. you suggested me to exercise weekly 4 times for reduce belly fat after cesarean but which exercise can I do.
Hi lybrate-user yoy can do surya namaskar Every one dreams to be rich! But everyone also dreams about something else, that is having a flat tummy without too much effort. The biggest misconception people are smitten by is that doing a lot of ab exercises helps you lose the tummy flab and achieve a table top flat belly. But that’s not the truth. The fact is that you can never lose you tummy fat only with exercise. Diet plays a major role in shaping up your abs. What you eat decides whether you a get a flat tummy or you develop tyres. The food you eat helps to crash or increase your metabolism to burn the fat around your waist. It truly depends on the choices you make. Here are top 5 foods for losing your belly fat. Almonds Most people think of nuts to be fattening and foods to be avoided when on a weight loss diet. But the fact is that almonds are high in fiber which makes a great mid meal snack and best part is that a few of them are enough to make you feel full. They also contain good fats which help to reduce bad fats in the blood and improve overall health. Avoid salted almonds and nibble on few raw ones along with their skin. Oats It’s only been a few years since this grain has gained a great deal of popularity but it surely has a long way to go. Oats has high amount of fiber, 40gm uncooked oats has 4 gm fiber which is good enough for one meal. It contains both soluble fiber known as beta-glucan and insoluble fiber which acts as a savior for people suffering from constipation by absorbing water, making the stools softer and speeding its elimination. It slows down digestion, making you feel fuller for a longer time so that you tend to eat less, promoting weight loss. Most importantly, they are gluten-free which can be readily replaced by wheat in a celiac or gluten sensitive patient’s diet as they are more prone to bloating due to wheat. Nothing better than waking up to a hot bowl of oats made in porridge or savory form to kick start your metabolism and reduces hunger pangs in the latter half of the day. You can also add oats to your soup, dals, dips, shakes, cutlets, etc. So go and grab a pack of this super healthy food today! Mushroom Not only loved for its characteristic UMAMI (meaty or savory), but also has a host of nutrients important for good health. They are neither a fruit nor a vegetable, but a fungi which the non-vegetarians turning into vegans are more than happily substituting their meat with. They are a great source of B vitamins which provides energy by breaking down carbohydrates, proteins and fats. They are a powerhouse of antioxidants like selenium and ergothioneine which protect body cells from damage, preventing heart attacks, boost immunity and helping you age gracefully. They are quite filling and very low in calories which are a lucrative food for obese people, making complete sense to replace red meat with them helping you shed excess weight. They contain good amount of vitamin D which work wonders to burn your belly fat. Add to your soup/ stir fry or some brown rice. Broccoli Luscious green vegetable which is extremely low on calories and an excellent source of fiber and antioxidants. This means small portion of it can help you to feel fuller for a longer time reducing your cravings for the wrong foods and helping you burn your stubborn belly fat. A broccoli stir fry or pasta is a treat for your palette. Low fat yoghurt White sacred food used from time immemorial. It is rich in protein which increases metabolism and helps you burn your fat easily. It also contains good bacteria that fight against the bad ones in your stomach that leave you feeling bloated and uneasy. This helps to reduce your belly size and make you feel light and active. Have it in the form of raita, buttermilk, smoothie or fruit yogurt.

I feel itching in eyes whenever I use mobile phones n computer, may I know wt will be the reason.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
I feel itching in eyes whenever I use mobile phones n computer, may I know wt will be the reason.
Mobile nd Computer screen is made up of hundreds of tiny pixels that are constantly moving. Our eyes in turn are not naturally able to set focus on these constantly moving pixels, and hence we try to focus on an area behind the actual screen. Therefore, in order to work on a mobile, our eyes need to keep on fluctuating focus between their natural point of focus and the pixels on the screen. And this tires the eyes and causes a lot of wear and tear.As a result, we suffer from irritation, which may range from a number of things like headaches, dry eyes,Itching eyes, blurred vision, problems in focusing and faulty color perception, to something as severe as glaucoma. The electromagnetic waves that are emitted by a mobile phone can be extremely damaging to the eyes. It has been studied and well documented that these cell phone waves can have a damaging effect on the various parts of the eye, including the retina and the cornea. Moreover, they can cause cataract too. Moreover it is more distressing for our eyes to view contents on a tiny screen which requires even more concentration and extenive usage of eyes without blinking thus causing Eye dryness making them vulnerable to frequent Eye problemss. . The solution for this problem I its reduced usage and while uing mobiles use them inproper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the mobile’s screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of mobile usage or take frequent breaks.
