My brother is having brain tumor from last 3.5 years. When it diagnosed it's of 2nd stage glioma. After that 1st surgery done. In that surgery he had loose the control of right side cause tumor is on left side. Then after 1 year again it occurs and he had a second surgery in hinduja hospital mumbai. After 2nd surgery radiation of 6 weeks also took with 5 cycles of chemotherapy tablets. After a 1.5 years again it occurs and surgery is done in July 2015. Now his tumor is in 4th stage. 4 cycle of chemotherapy have took after 3rd surgery. But from MRI doctor said that the tumor is not responding to the chemotherapy tablets. It's occurring and increasing. Please suggest actual condition and treatment if there is.

MCh Neurosuregry
Neurosurgeon, Sirsa
Hello it is unfortunate that your brother had to undergo repeated surgeries, but from the information you have given it appears that he has been treated properly as per the standard guidelines for these kind of tumors. Now I guess it is grade 4 not 4th stage of the tumor and grading not staging is used for these kind of brain tumor. Treatment now is difficult and depends on the neurological and general condition of the patient, findings on mri scan like location and extent of the tumor and expectations of the patient and relatives from the treatment etc. You have to understand that these tumors are difficult to cure completely and all we can do is to give best available treatment and care. Thank you.

I am 27 years female. And I have migraine. Please tell the proper solution for this as I am having medicines like headset or combiflam but they giving just temporarily relief.

BHMS

Hello, Self-care measures can help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation techniques may include progressive muscle relaxation, meditation or yoga. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. Medication: Take Bakson's Mig Aid tablet/ 1 tablet 3 times a day.

Hello Doctors, I am a migraine patient and often I had severe migraine attacks too. But after practicing yoga my intensity to migraine attacks has reduced. But now a days again I am suffering form headache after every 2 days although the intensity is not that severe. I am having pain in my neck and ears as well with lots of yawning and dullness and tiredness in my eyes. Please suggest.

Migraine is a relapsing disorder. The relapses may be precipitated due to various physical and psychological factors. Yoga and other relaxation exercises do help in preventing relapses caused by stress and anxieties. But still if relapse occurs it is advisable to start some medications to control the active symptoms and later treat for prevention of further relapses.

I have gone through spine surgery l4-l5, there is still numbness in my right leg, even after three years.
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually the relief in symptoms will be better if surgery is done as early as symptoms appeared and I will have to see your discharge papers to understand what was the exact story in your case. Also a recent mri of ls spine can be of help along with a detailed neurological examination to see whether there is any compression there or not? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

5 Natural Homeopathic Medicines For Bell's Palsy

5 Natural Homeopathic Medicines For Bell's Palsy

Some diseases like Bell’s Palsy have a sudden onset. One moment everything is fine and the next, half your face feels paralysed. Bell’s Palsy is a viral infection that causes temporary paralysis of one side of the face. The exact cause is unknown but this virus is said to be related to the herpes virus. The sudden onset of this condition can make a person believe that they have suffered a stroke and this condition can last for several months. Many people do not completely recover from this condition. A numb sensation, lack of control over the lips and eyelids, drooping of one side of the face and an inability to smile or blink are some of the symptoms of this condition.

Homeopathy has been used to treat a number of Bell’s Palsy cases successfully. However, the results vary from person to person and the extent of nerve damage done. This form of treatment does not address only the visible symptoms but addresses the physical, mental and emotional health of a person as a whole. Since homeopathy has negligible side effects, it can be prescribed to children and adults alike. Some common homeopathic remedies for Bell’s Palsy are:

  1. Aconite and Causticum: Aconite is prescribed in the initial stages of this condition especially is paralysis seems to have set in after exposure to a cold draft. Patients who can benefit from aconite often also complain of a tingling sensation on the affected side of the face. On the other hand, causticum is prescribed to treat chronic cases of facial paralysis.

  2. Hypericum: This is the most preferred homoeopathic remedy in cases of paralysis caused due to injury to a nerve. In addition to the symptoms of Bell’s Palsy, the patient may also complain of tingling or numbing sensations and burning sensations on the affected side of the face.

  3. Ignatia: Bell’s Palsy can also be triggered by grief. In such cases, Ignatia has been proven to be quite effective. It also resolves excessive saliva production and frequent biting of cheeks of the tongue while talking and swallowing.

  4. Cadmium Sulph: Bell’s Palsy that develops as a result of a sudden haemorrhagic condition can be treated with Cadmium Sulph. In such cases, the patient may have a distorted face and may face difficulties swallowing food and speaking properly. He or she may also be unable to close the eye on the affected side of the face.

  5. Bacillinum and Causticum: The medicines are prescribed in cases of Bell’s Palsy triggered by the suppression of facial eruptions. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Homeopath.

My son was 4 years old and he is suffering from fits once twice in month. What should I do ?

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Patna
Epileptic fit/seizure is a kind of neurological illness. The cause of seizure is abnormal electrical discharges from a part of brain. The cause of discharge may be a tumor, old trauma, vascular injury or any other brain insult. Many of the time this abnormal electrical activity may be seen in eeg recordings. This is a potentially dangerous situation. You should immediately consult a paediatrician/physician or neurologist who may investigate your son with eeg, mri brain etc and prescribe anti-epileptic medicines for cure. He should avoid cycling, riding bike, swimming, going at height, playing near machinery, going near fire or going near water bodies like pond, lake, well, river etc. He will be ok with medicines, but the medicines may be required to be continued for many years. I wish him a better health.

Hello Readers I'm writing on behalf of my mother who has been suffering from Migraine since she was 16; she is 60 now. All these years have been intense especially the mornings that has numbered to 16000 now; we tried all the alternatives, namely Ayurveda, Acupressure, Homeopathy, myriad doctors such as Neurologists, Physicians, General Practitioners. Based upon the advices, my mother has been taking drugs, Vasograin, Suminat, Ambulex, Alprax for last 5 years and have seen a reduction in the frequency of the attacks ; I will try to be concise about the schedule/methodology as mentioned below: a.Migraine attacks come every morning (I believe after the sleep); vasograin and ambulex are taken which subside the pain before my mother could start her day. B.There are days when after upon eating several foods (such as milk product items, wheat products, spinach, tangy fruits), migraine does come back and the solution is a second dose of vasograin. However, introduction of Gasex (Himalaya product) after the food has reduced the intensity of the pain. C.Alprax is taken (once or twice a month) in case the headache is intense and a feeling of numbness is there. D.Every 15 days or so, my mother gets a severe attack that goes away only with the Suminat (25 mgs) that comes with the nausea. After all these years, I?m intensely worried about the GI Tract of my mother, poisoning of the organs because of drugs ingestion, overall general health and what not; your inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Doing this daily also will show effect in reducing the intensity & frequency of the attacks of ha. Take plenty of water[better to take minimum 1 litre of lukewarm water in morning with empty stomach is better for all purpose]. If you find any relation with any food or any stress related thing that causing you getting, then try to avoid that like sun exposure. Have good sleep. Sometimes I have pain in half portion of my head at that time I have to grab painkiller Some Dr. Says that it is a symptoms of migraine effect stay away from hot weather.what to do

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Few things related to headache so that we can plan the treatment accordingly - if pain is associated with blurred or decreased vision than check your eye sight for refractive error - if the pain is pulsatile in nature and with a throbbing pain usually with an aura than we have to rule out migrane as the cause - if the pain is associated with neck problems than we have to rule out cervical spondylosis as the cause - if the pain is associated with either low or high bp or due to hyperacidity than we have to treat the cause after examination - if the pain is associated with cold and fever than we have to rule out sinusitis as the cause.

Active tremors do not usually point to a serious neurological disorder such as Parkinson’s disease. take homeopathic treatment for your complaint. It is safe, natural and highly effective in neuromuscular complaint. few more details about complaint are needed to select right remedy. you may message back for further details and proper homeopathic treatment.
