Hi. You can go for depigmentation. It is a very minor surgical procedure with no side effects. There are very good results with laser. I will advise you to see a periodontist.

Actually my mouth is smelling very badly. What is the proper treatment for avoid it and what is the best usable tooth brush and tooth paste?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Infections in the mouth, such as dental caries (tooth decay), periodontal (gum) disease or mouth sores related to other conditions may contribute to bad breath. Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. Dry mouth also can cause bad breath. Smoking or chewing tobacco-based products also can cause bad breath, You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then.

Saliva is a magical healthy teeth elixir: It's antibacterial, acid neutralizing and full of minerals that strengthen enamel. But 25% of women in their 50s don't produce enough, so they suffer bad breath and other problems as a result.

Tongue cleaning is as important as brushing and flossing. Use of a proper tongue scraper every morning will remove tongue plaque and freshen your breath.

Use dental floss regularly. Avoid mouth breathing as it is the most common reason of gum related problems.

I want to have a brace on my teeth. But I don't know how if it's gonna affect my brain as I heard that bracing led a girl to brain cancer. What should I do?

I am suffering from Dry mouth syndrome and mild anxiety. I am hypertensive and taking MetXL AM 50 OD on cardiologist advice. Please help.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Dear Concerned Dry mouth could be a side effect of your medication. Discuss it with your cardiologist. 1.sip water at regular intervals. You can try ice cubes. Drink at least a litre and a half of water everyday. 2.Smoking and coffee can worsen a dry mouth. 3.Citrus lozenges and sugar free gums can be of some help. 4.Avoid mouthwashes.(alcohol free can be used) 5.Try and get lozenges that are more natural. Ginger candy is a great option. Another great option is amla candy. Avoid sweetened or salted options. Go as natural as possible. Take care.

My colleague's son reported tooth ache. Pathology tests revealed cancer. He is nonsmoker and do not use alcohol. He died at 47 last week. Why his health worsened? Is it due to poor food habits?

BDS, MDS, MBA (Healthcare), FAM
Dentist, Hyderabad
Hello Sir, Deeply saddened by the news. My condolences to the family. Oral Cancer can happen to any one at all and without a reason. But there are certian factors which can increase the risk to getting one, like tobacco usage both smoke and smokeless form, poor general health, poor diet etc etc. Or in rare cases it could be genetic too. We as doctors take it upon ourselves to reach out to people and educate and create awareness regarding Oral Cancer. We propogate timely and regular oral health check ups to catch the problem in an ealy stage and then adequately treat it or maybe even some times identify risk factors and help in preventing it altogether. So my advice, as has always been, to get regular oral Health check up done and consider the recommendations of the dentist. After all as they say "Prevention is beter than Cure" Take care! Cheers!
