Selfitis and effects

Recently concluded study says taking selfitis is the obessive disorder of clicking one's own photos as a mental disorder taking selfies is ok but a compulsive urge to click yourself and uploaded the image on social media several times a day makes a candidate for selfitis which stems from self confidence
Borderline acute and chronic are the three levels of this disorder and counselling is the way to reduce it

Best option for you is invest in interest and aptitude testing from a qualified and trained psychologist. These tests will reveal which fields/jobs your interest lies. Aptitude testing will tell which are the fields/jobs where you have the ability to succeed. In other words, you will get to know your strengths and which jobs are most suitable for you. Knowing your inner strengths, you will never have to depend on what people say about you. The tests will tel you what you are good at. So, you need not bother about people anymore. Based on test results, if you make a career choice, you will be successful. All the best,

You are currently suffering from the symptom of hypersexuality. Your mind is using this unhealthy coping mechanism to deal with emotional stress, probably arising from a fear of abandonment or rejection. It is just like using illicit drugs to deal with a problem. You need to quit it immediately, but with professional help. You also have a lot of myths. First of all, there is no age limit to lose one's virginity. Unfortunately the average indian male has a very wrong and skewed concept of sex. You need to get some facts right. Your body is your responsibility, not your friend's. High risk behavior like visiting a csw can put your entire life in danger. Secondly, no girl or woman is impressed with how many girls a man has had sex with. So don't beat yourself about it. Please visit a psychiatrist and get yourself treated as soon as you can. You have a lot of other things in your life to focus on and enjoy. This problem will not go away on its own.

What is the best solution for people who smoke, so that the thar in lungs can be cleaned or what ia the precautions should be taken. Plse suggest me so it can useful.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
You have to quit cold turkey because the body and mind will torture you endlessly while attempting reduction in smoking. The tobacco tar in cigarette smoke lines your lung with huge patches that make that portion dysfunctional. Your oxygen carrying capacity is jeopardized, and breathing is impinged. But don’t be discouraged because it is not too late even now to reverse all the ill-effects of smoking. I don’t know what other organs could be damaged but do go for a thorough medical check up to assess the effects of your abuse. Regarding improving your lungs, do a lot of aerobic exercise breathing through your nostrils only. Then there are a lot of deep breathing exercises in Yoga which you can learn too. Deep breathing cleanses your system and lungs and restores it to good health. Deep breathing uses the 80% of the lungs which are not normally used in normal breathing and even when exerting yourself. The greatest effect is in the lungs because this substance is processed through the respiratory system directly through the lung surface. When quitting, you must take one day at a time; though you must give up all smoking at once, and promptly. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine gums and nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i. E. At least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here’s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world – you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

I am 45 years male. Taking alcohol since last 15 yrs. Now I feel it is effecting my health as I feel tired every time .pls help me to quit .

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
You have been on the reactive mode but it does not matter. The decision to quit is very important and it seems to have come of your own accord. Please go for a complete medical check and then follow these guidelines even if there are no manifest problems as yet: You need to identify why you needed to drink, and go back to your childhood to find out other influences on your personality that makes you prone to addiction. Meet with an addiction counselor and work with them to sort out this drive. The simplest thing to do is to do some other interesting activity during the evening times or the times when the temptation is strongest. Meet your oral need with some other non-intoxicating drink like soups, juices, and sodas with lime, etc. If you think that you will find it very difficult, then admit yourself to a hospital and go for de-addiction: which normally lasts for about two weeks. Then follow that up with addiction counseling from a professional for at least three years to completely get rid of the habit. If this is also not enough, then admit yourself into a de-addiction center and stay there for at least 6 months and after that attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving. Ultimately, it is your will power and the support that you receive from the medical fraternity and your close and dear ones. You must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i.e. Another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide you on several measures and precautions you will need to take to stay with your resolve. Even after the rehabilitation you must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. Your family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. You cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to your drinking and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. Make a serious plan with the family and whoever else’s support you can get and act on it fast. As a combination, these two therapies (counseling and rehabilitation) will aid in dealing with the addiction. It will, however, take a long time to completely come off of the enslavement.

Pain in the Hands or Legs!

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, MCh - Vascular Surgery, F.V.E.S

Pain in the Hands or Legs!

Problems with the arteries and veins present in the hands or legs can lead to vascular disorders. The arteries carry blood from the heart to other parts of the body in order to deliver nutrients and oxygen. The veins carry the blood back to the heart, after the nutrients have been used up. If these blood vessels of the arteries or veins become blocked or narrowed, it can lead to a vascular blockage.

A vascular blockage that occurs in the hands or legs comes under the category of Peripheral Artery Disease or PAD. These type of disorders are less common in the upper extremities of the arms or hands than in the lower extremities of legs. Few of the signs for the same are:

  1. Pain and difficulty in movement due to decreased blood flow
  2. Numbness or weakness of leg or fingertips
  3. Sores on the toes or feet
  4. If the blockage is deep, symptoms of redness, swelling, extreme pain or cramping can be experienced
  5. Abnormal color changes in the fingertips
  6. Ulcers or wounds that don’t heal
  7. Skin sensitivity problems when in cold temperatures

How can it be diagnosed?
The blockage can be detected by various methods namely-

  1. Physical Examination – Your doctor may find decreased pulse at armpit, wrist or fingers, full veins, masses, wounds or gangrene.
  2. Doppler or Ultrasound examination to determine the blood flow in the arteries and veins
  3. MRI Scan of the affected area to pay special attention to the blood vessels
  4. Cold Stress Test
  5. Arteriography to show clear blood vessel details
  6. Angiography to map blockages and narrowing of the arteries

What are the Risk Factors for Peripheral Artery Disease?
An individual is at risk for developing vascular blockages in the hands or legs if one or more of the following factors are present:

  1. Smoking
  2. Diabetes
  3. Heredity Factors – A personal or family history of blood vessel disease
  4. High blood pressure
  5. High cholesterol
  6. Aging – People aged above 50 years and older are more prone to vascular blockage

Can it be treated?
Treatments for vascular blockage can vary depending on the age, cause of the blockage, intensity and overall well-being.

Treatments can include:

  1. Self-care – Reducing risk factors and making lifestyle changes to quit smoking, sedentary life or diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol management can reverse symptoms of vascular disease.
  2. Medications – A variety of drugs can be prescribed to lower the risk and progression of narrowing blood vessels or prevent blood clotting.
  3. Interventional Procedures – Minimally invasive surgery like saloon angioplasty, stenting or removal of artery plaque build-up.
  4. Surgery – If the blockage is severe, surgery may be performed to lessen the vessel narrowing, reconstruct the artery or tie it off, depending on the circumstances.

Mood fluctuations can be controlled with the medications you are on. But Zero level will be there for sometime and you may have to keep an eye on your symptoms subjectively.

I am feeling alone now a days why even though there is none of reason of this please let me know why?

BHMS, VLIR Belgium, Canadian Academy Of Homeopathy

I am feeling alone now a days why even though there is none of reason of this please let me know why?
Sandeep, the feeling of feeling low is very common now a days in youth. There could be many reasons. Bad parenting, lack of exercise, no friends, no outing, monotonicity in the schedule, less proteins in diet etc. First of all, I would suggest to start getting up early and doing some vigorous exercises. They can bring a substantial change in your behavior. Researches suggest that doing exercises can make the mood happy because it produces happy hormones called endorphins. The rest you can manage later.
