Hi It requires a lot of courage to accept that something has gone off-track. Appreciate yourself for taking this step. You have already started your recovery. Don't worry about time. Slow and steady wins the health race. Its good to take help of people whom you trust. You can also continue to search for online forums where you can find support for recovery... You can also try these steps. 1. Accept yourself the way you are. 2. A person is more than his looks and weight. Focus on your inner self. 3. Focus on your good qualities. 4. Focus on your work and studies. 5. Try to pick / follow a hobby. 6. Listen to music you like. 7. Read books you like. 8. Eat small portions of food you like. Try to balance carbs/fats/proteins. 9. Do breathing exercises. 10. Try meditation. You can try Minda.lee.kumar videos on youtube. 11. Continue your journey towards health step by step. 12. Believe that you will achieve better health. Never give up.

I have body pain for last two days. What can i do?
What is the severity of pain? is the pain continous or intermittent? is it pulsating? since pain is a complex phenomenon, there are many treatment options medications, therapies, and mind-body techniques. Apart from pain killers, there is evidence that certain dietary supplements and vitamins can help with certain types of pain. Fish oil is often used to reduce pain associated with swelling. A therapeutic diet complemented with few medications for pain management can also work wonders. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

One of my family member is addicted with smoking and is unable to relax. How can he quit smoking?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

Whoever it is, this much is clear, whoever has the smoking habit has to want to stop the habit himself, first. Anybody else that wants to stop someone else’s habit, even if you use force, cannot succeed in the long run until the person himself wants to stop it. Now the person will want to stop the habit as soon as he has ‘Hit Rock Bottom’ when he is really ready to give it up and wants help and support. You can keep encouraging and warning him about the damage he is causing to himself and that the effects may be visible much later. Initially he needs to meet with a counselor who will encourage him to give up the habit by pointing out the imminence of ‘Hitting Rock Bottom’, and some responsive candidates respond with a serious motivation. Once that has been achieved he can be taken for detoxification either to a hospital or to a rehabilitation center and he can then follow their schedule for complete cessation. If it is not too serious, he can cope with counseling itself to sufficiently give it up.

My memory is very low and I can't concentrate on the work my mind will get disturbed again and again.

For concentration and memory try following things on a daily basis and you will see positive results. Concentration is a mental skill that you can develop. There are two ways to improve your concentration: first, raise your brain's natural ability to concentrate. In other words, increase your attention. Second, adjust the environment around you to make concentrating easier. To improve your concentration takes a little time and effort, but it can be worth it. In my personal experience with students. This can make noticeable improvement in a relatively short time. Ideas for daily concentration-boosting habits include: mindfulness meditation - many studies confirm that 20 minutes of meditation or more per day improves concentration and attention span. Focusing on your breathing, known as mindfulness meditation, is one of the simplest way of meditation. Start with ten minutes in the morning and ten minutes before bed. Proper sleep -i am sorry to say it. Pulling all nighter will not help with your grade. Unless you are getting sufficient restful sleep, you are not going to be as mentally focused as you could be. Brain game -. The more you use certain skills, the more they are reinforced in the brain. So it makes sense that playing concentration games and games that require you to focus will improve your concentration ability. You need to be consistent in this. Play for about 10 to 20 minutes each day. Have fun, and get the benefits but remember not to spend more than 20 minutes a day. Your goal is to improve your concentration and not the score in the game! eat healthier - your brain needs the proper nutrients to allow you to focus. Eat more vegetables and fruits and avoid consumption of junk food as much as possible. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Exercise is helpful in both reducing stress and increasing focus. At-least 20 minutes a day would go a long way. Optimize your mental state & environment in addition to building the habits described above into your daily routine, also adjust your environment and your current mental state to improve your concentration when studying. Create a study spot. Your brain loves routine. Create a place where all you do is study. An obvious choice is a secluded desk of some kind, but the trick is to make sure you only study in that spot. Studying in bed is a bad habit, for example, because your body is trained to want to sleep once you get into bed. Remove distractions. Turn off the ringer on your phone and take other steps to prevent interruptions. Don't study with the television on or with talk radio playing. Some studies have shown that soft instrumental music (no vocals) can help improve your concentration. Block background noises. If you have to study or work in an environment where it is too loud (classroom or open space) or too quiet (such as at home or at a library) you can get easily distracted by outside influences. With the right amount of background noise you can actually block out distractions and enhance your creative thinking. Use time boxes. Set a time limit when you need to study new material. For example, let's say you want to read one chapter in a book (and remember it). Decide in advance that you can have 45 minutes to read the chapter, and 15 minutes to review it. Set a timer to keep yourself honest, then pace yourself to keep within the allotted time. Stay motivated with rewards. If you see studying as burden, it's hard to concentrate. One way to stay motivated is to set up a reward system. Tell yourself you have to earn that hour of watching your favorite show later in the evening by first completing one hour of intense studying. That way, even if the material is dry, you have the reward to look forward to. Take a break every two hours. You mental energy will begin to decline after a long period of study. So every two hours or so, take a ten minute break. Walk around, eat a light snack, or just stare at the wall to relax your mind. Concentrating is the first step to learning anything new. It only makes sense that if you improve your concentration, your memory will improve also.

I just don't enjoy the things I used to, and I don't feel much like visiting friends or family. Is this part of aging?
Age is nothing to do with enjoying your activities and not wanting to visit friends and family. And you are just 22! it is a person's mental and emotional state that is responsible for such thoughts and behaviours. I have seen 75 year old people enjoying tremendously in social gatherings and enjoying their life. Yet I have also seen 15 year olds so disappointed in life that they have cut them selves from active social interactions. This means that it is your own experiences which make you respond to life in different ways. 1. I am sensing disappointment and sadness with yourself and others, from your statements. I suggest that you undergo counselling to learn tips and techniques to manage social relationships and expectations from self and others which seems to have taken a hit in your case. Withdrawing from people may be a short term solution but never a long term solution because humans are social animals and need each other for their survival and achieve their fullest potential. 2. Some amount of self awareness and" other" awareness can help you to build bridges again with your friends and being able to appreciate differences while accepting similarities is definitely a desirable trait in people in these fast changing times. 3. Disinterest in your own actions might be coming from doing stuff that you don't want to do or may be below your skill level or some other reason. A counsellor will be able to help you to direct your daily and weekly activities in a direction which makes sense and meaning to you so that you feel a sense of achievement and fulfillment. How to overcome from depression?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist
Ask Free Question
You are so young and having depression could mean that there is something serious bothering you. You must meet with a counselor and then under that person? s guidance you may choose to seek psychiatric help. The combination is ideal to combat this condition. This is the only condition were you are required to literally do the opposite of what you feel like doing. Depression makes you want to withdraw, lie down, sleep, become lethargic, slow down, make you too lazy to even think etc. So when I suggested doing the opposite, you will need to fight this disease. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, and wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend yoga classes etc. Watch a lot of sitcoms on tv or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. I hope you can find someone to love and be loved too. Whatever happens please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in god to alleviate your sufferings.

The medication you took does not cause any such side effects. But if you still feel uneasy and not comfortable taking these medicines, you may stop taking them. Most of then are vitamin b group vitamins and do to remain in body for more than 3-4 days.

It seems like you are being anxious and it's effecting your studies. According to you social media n smart phone are huge distractive elements and you are not being able to limit their use. It would be helpful to know whether this issue has started recently or has it been there for some time. Do consult a counsellor for further exploration as more information is required to really understand what's happening and how to help.

She will feel drowsiness so suggest her not to go out or drive. Once the drug is put of her system she should be fine and will not have any other side effect. I would also request that you suggest her to seek help outside for few months. See a counselor or psychologist who could help her cop with her current state and lead healthy life ahead.

Its usually occurs in middle ages, more common in males than in females. Pt usually develops unusual beliefs like he's being watched, followed, being plotted against, being discussed by others. At times bizarre behaviours and thought content could also be found. It is a complex syndrome which affects perception, thought, judgement, insight, cognition, motor and behavioural aspects of an individual. If left untreated, chances of spontaneous remissions are less, would gradually worsen. It is a treatable condition, treatment predominantly involves antipsychotic drugs such as haloperidol, risperidone, olanzapine, clozapine etc. Some rare cases also require mect as well. Hello, aap ek tarah ki anxiety se safar kar rahe hai, jisme kuch unhoni hone ka dar laga rehta hai, per pata nahi hota kya. Fear of death. Remember to take a deep breath and try to find something to do to get your mind off of you anxieties and stresses. A person could take a walk, listen to some music, read the newspaper, watch tv, play on the computer or do an activity that will give them a fresh perspective on things. This will distract you from your current worries. A lot of times, our worrying can make the problem even worse. All the worrying in the world will not change anything. All you can do is to do your best each day, hope for the best, and when something does happen, take it in stride. If you still have trouble managing your anxiety of the future, then talking to a counselor or clergyman can be of great help. There are ways to help manage your fear and all it takes is some effort to find those answers. Aap psychiatrist se consult kare.

You must be under some stress and that will cause a problem for sleep. The lack of sleep, i.e. Sleep for less than 6 hours per night, is directly linked to about 86 diseases! So let us first focus on that. In your case particularly, do not sleep during the day; don’t even lie down. Go for regular exercise (breathing through your nostrils only) at a fixed time (at about 6 am) every day, whether you sleep or not. You must develop this habit of sleeping by 10 pm latest every night and wake up at a uniform time by 6 am every morning, even if you do not get sleep. If you do not get sleep, just lie down and if you have a bed lamp (or you could get one) lie down and read something light but not exciting. Your eyes will tire and you will fall asleep. If you like you may also put on light and soft music with the sleep function on. Depending on whether you are a visual or auditory person, you may watch TV in a lying down position until you feel sleepy. Have a warm bath before going to bed (for some people a cold bath at night seems to induce sleep! If you are one of them, please do so). Place the head side of your bed in a North-South position. The room must be as dark as possible and there should be no electronic items that give off even a light LED glow. There must be ample ventilation in the room. Avoid strong odors, except lavender, on your body or in the room, or on your sheets and clothes. There should not be any live plants in your bedroom. Sleep with the lightest of clothes or without any clothing. When lying down to sleep, lie down on your left ear as much as possible. Do not sleep directly under an overhead fan. You must eat a good breakfast, a fairly light lunch, and an early dinner, which should be a very light meal. Whatever you eat in the other meals, have only a pure carbohydrate meal at night with any vegetables, and preferably before 8 pm. Do not drink much liquids after or near about dinner time. When lying down to sleep you may use the 4-7-8 breathing pattern of sleep inducement i.e. Breathe in for four counts through your nostril only, hold for 7 counts, and exhale with a whoosh sound, through your mouth only, for 8 counts. Repeat this four times in the morning and just before you sleep at night. If you know Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT , then please practice this too for sleep induction. Self-hypnosis and slow relaxation techniques, at night will be tremendously useful. Acupuncture or acupressure will both be very useful too. Pray last thing at night before you sleep.

Dear lybrate-user, you are unnecessarily worrying. You are thinking more about your crush because she is your crush. Not your priorities. That means your crush your priority. Once you make your future your priority, your attitude trds your priority will change. Your priority itself will change. I suggest psychological counseling.

Dear lybrate user, if you wish to lose weight, you need to modify you lifestyle and food habits. If health is important for you, then please find out some time slot in your tight schedule which you can devote to either yoga, jogging, cycling or going to the gym. It may appear difficult to find time for this, but you need to somehow find time for this. May be get up earlier than your usual time or work out at night. Once you start your physical exercise, you will realize that it will help you in losing weight and at the same time it acts as a stress buster. It is very important to have healthy food and on time. If home food is not possible find out some other options like getting tiffin delivered at office from online catering services or any mess or find a place near your office where you will get a square meal. You may also consult a nutritionist.
