Benefits of Yoga + Walking Vs Gyming

To keep up good health, it is absolutely necessary for one to indulge in physical exercise or activities. Physical activities, in general, are linked to a host of good benefits, such as reduced stress and a healthier and better outlook, besides increasing the body's resistance against complications like heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes and muscle pain among others problems.

Similarly, the practice of yoga is an ancient tradition well known for its health benefits. In addition, walking can further complement the practice of yoga and they can together prove to be highly advantageous, to the extent where they can be possibly regarded a better alternative to the act of gyming.

Benefits:
Here are a few benefits of gym workouts followed by the benefits of yoga plus walking: 

Benefits of gym and other exercises:

  1. Keep muscles fit
  2. Enhance respiration and perspiration
  3. Helps in weight loss
  4. Relieve stress
  5. Increase appetite and food consumption

Benefits of yoga and walking:

Differences:
Although it can be argued that gym workouts are better than yoga and vice-versa, the subject matter is highly ambiguous and debatable. Since both activities are good for your health, physically as well as mentally, it is very difficult to say which one is better; perhaps a detailed comparison of the differences between the two may be more helpful:

  1. While gymming and other exercises focus on building the body and helping you attain the desired body figure, yoga and walking aims at regulating the entire body mechanism, with more emphasis on mental control.
  2. While gym workouts may be more expensive, yoga requires minimal accessories and is therefore, more economically convenient.
  3. Yoga is suitable for people of all ages, whereas gymming and other intense physical activities are not advisable for old people or those with specific medical ailments like hypertension and heart problems.
  4. There are minimal withdrawal effects with yoga, in contrast to gym workouts.
  5. Gymming requires you to go to the gym, whereas yoga and walking can be done anywhere and everywhere.

Hi, one way of overcoming is by graded exposure. Do not expect to become brave overnight. Learn to face small situations initially. Think what can be done at that moment. Do not directly test yourself in a big situation. Gradually climb up the ladder of more and more difficult situations, until you are able to face difficult situations also with ease. Take care!

I am 80 yeras old and having pain in both the knee. I can walk with slight pain but get stiffness feeling after getting up after prolonged sitting or lying down. I had stent about 2 years back. Any treatment without knee replacement/surgery. Please advise regards.

Most probably you are suffering from oa of knee. Knee surgery-total knee replacement (tkr) is quite safe & gives uniformly good results, in our hands. We have well equipped center in delhi. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Surgery should be done when patient is still active & will be able to take benefit of surgery. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem. Kindly show me x rays before a final decision can be taken. You will be thoroughly investigated before surgery is under taken. Risk in surgery is less than the risk in crossing road.

Avoid tea/coffee alcohol, smoking spicy food. Life style changes and food habbits can solve your problem easily. Chew your food properly. Avoid outside food. Walk about 3-5 kms daily. There should be gap of 2hrs after dinner and sleep. Small and frequent meals is of help. Keep your blood sugar controlled. Raise your bed about 4" from headend side. Get your gastroendoscopy done. Tab nexpro-l 1 tab empty stomach.

Its may be due to season. In vasant rutu indigestion is common start following * take ajvayan & jeera 1 tsp each after each meal * take ginger & turmeric before food * take hot water * quantity is much important, assume 4 part of your appetite & take food only 3 part of it * use table kutaj parpati of dhootpapeshvar pharma 1 tab 3 times before food.

Usually ulcer heals by itself only within 1 week. You can take'becosule capsule' once in a day for 1 week for faster recovery. Temporarily you can apply mucopain gel over ulcer for relief.

Pay close attention to your food choice. ·        Eat less carbohydrate food sources like chapatti, rice, noodles, pasta, bread etc as they help in gaining weight and storing fat. ·        While having lunch or dinner eat vegetables and dal to fill your stomach rather eating lots of chapattis or rice. ·        Have a healthy breakfast like poha, idli, upma, plain dosa, oats, dalia or khichdi with vegetables. ·        Eat a balance diet including good quality proteins like: fish, lean chicken and eggs. If you are a vegetarian then include skimmed milk, low fat paneer, butter milk, soy bean or soy milk in your diet. ·        Avoid ghee, butter or vanaspati. Prepare your diet with vegetable oil like sunflower, safflower soybean or olive oil. ·        Eat plenty of salads. ·        Eat fresh fruits including apple, orange, pineapple, papaya, sweet lime, berries, guava, watermelon, mask melon etc. ·        Avoid eating outside junk and fried foods like pizza, pasta, roll, burgers, cakes, chocolates and cookies. ·        Have an early dinner. The earlier the better, giving your system more time to digest the food. ·        Avoid cold drinks/alcohol as they add empty calories to your diet. ·        Avoid fat enriched milk products like cheese, sweets, full fat cream etc. ·        Drink 3 liters of water in a day. ·        Try to have less sugar in food and beverages. ·        Try to drink 2 cups of green tea in a day as green tea helps in weight loss by aiding digestion. ·        Avoid red meat like mutton, beef, lamb or pork. ·        Eat sprouts or roasted chana, whenever you feel hungry.

Hi, main reason of tiredness ,weakness without any other health issue is mainly due to nutritional imbalances, and vitamin deficiencies. Your problem can be solved with good diet chart and nutritional supplements. Pls check your haemoglobin level you should go for brisk walk in the morning. Do regular exercise atleast 20 minutes daily. Take 1 glass lukewarm water with half lemon in the morning. Include more vegetable and fruits in your diet .drink more water in a day. The word fat in itself is very alarming. Body fat or weight is the topic of concern for most people today. Due to the lack of physical activities these day?s people tend to gain weight at a faster rate. Long working hours, which involves sitting in front of computers, have lead to the increase in belly size.Pot belly or beer belly are just few names with which it is known. Abdominal Crunches: Lay down flat on the floor. Bend the knees with feet on the floor. Place your hands by the side of your ears. Take a deep breath. Crunch up lifting the head and chest a bit. The aim is to try and touch the knees with the forehead. But do not try to do it in the first attempt. Give your body some time. Now move down gradually, exhaling the air. Descending movement must be slower than the crunch up movement. Repeat the steps 5 to 10 times some tips ? Squeeze a lemon in a cup of warm water. Drink this water as soon as you get up in the morning. Drink lots of water throughout the day, keep yourself well hydrated. Drink green tea in the morning. It has antioxidants that help the body to burn fat and detoxify. Eliminate all juice (except natural pomegranate juice) and soft drinks from your diet. Drink only 1 cup of coffee a day. Avoid junk food at all cost. Start exercising. Do hour to 45 minutes of cardio, preferably walking on an incline every day. Do light weight training for upper body three times a week. Snack on a small amount of almonds (5 at a time) throughout the day (4 times a day maximum). any queries inform me?

Hello doctor I am posting this query after getting frustrated from seasonal allergy. (1) I am from rajasthan where weather is dry (2) from dec 2011 to Dec 2015 ,I was in dibrugarh ASSAM. During this period, I became victim of this allergy Now I describe my problems DURING WINTER (IN ASSAM ONLY)-during full winter I suffer problems of itching in eyes. Sneezing continuously. Runny nose and due to all this body pain also and some times headache (I repeat sometimes headache) . In between if I shifts to rajasthan THIS PROBLEM IS NO LONGER AND everything IS NORMAL BUT WHEN I BACK TO ASSAM PROBLEM STARTS AGAIN. . DURING RAINY SEASON- problem is same as above .but I mention some difference during rainy seasons humidity is more but weather is hot I feel hotness as normally but when I starts cooler or fan ,my sneezing starts, nose starts running and itching in eye also. Now I am bareilly (up) and here weather is also more humid and its raining also. So I am facing problem again WHEN THIS PROBLEM BECOME WORSE I FEEL DIFFICULTY IN BREATHING ALSO. Also during winter I feel extreme cold and I'm much prone to get cold very soon During summer I feel extreme hotness NOTE: WHEN I GO TO RAJASTHAN I DNT FEEL THIS PROBLEM DESPITE OF ANY KIND OF SEASONS. . Hopefully you will understand my problem well and provide me better solution. I have gone to allopathic doctors many times but every time they give some times avil-25 ,sometimes levocetirizine. Eye drops .nasal drops. But nothing has worked in long term. Plzzzzz guide me Thanx.

Prevention if you are having varicose veins 1. Do regular exercise, reduce weight if over weight, 2. Avoid tight cothing, 3. Avoid prolonged standing/sitting 3. Keep the leg elevated while sleeping, sitting 4. Consult surgeon for further advice treatment 1. Compression stocking if no relief 2. Sclerotherapy, 3. Laser surgery or vein stripping. 4. Consult a good surgeon for treatment.
