Slip disc is a general term, there are many stages in it, Have you got mri of spine, if so then only we can clearly say which stage and treatment depends on stage. Kindly post your mri report. Contact for further details. Only initial stages conservative works otherwise surgery is only option.

Warning Signs And Symptoms Of Breast Cancer!

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in females, affecting one in every eight women in the US. Knowing the symptoms can help in early diagnosis and thereby early treatment and better outcome.  

How and why of breast cancer?


Breasts have milk producing glands as well as connective tissue including fat, fibrous tissue, nerves, blood vessels, etc. Milk produced in the glands reaches the exterior through a network of ducts. Most cancers develop in milk producing glands and ducts and later continue to grow and spread to lymph nodes in armpit as well as distant organs.  

Warning signs and symptoms: 


Given the high incidence of breast cancer, knowing the symptoms helps in early identification. Read on to know more. Pay extra attention if there is a family history. 

  1. Appearance of a lump in the breasts or the armpits 
  2. Any change in the size, shape, or contour of the breasts  
  3. Presence of a watery or bloody discharge from the nipple  
  4. The breast or the nipple turning red
  5. Sudden thickening of breast tissue or skin that continues for a while 
  6. Change in the feel or look of the skin (dimpling, puckering, scaliness, reddishness, warmth, etc.)
  7. Hardening of the tissue under the breast skin 
  8. Difference in appearance or feel of one area in comparison with other areas 

The presence of any of these or a combination of these symptoms should be an indication for a detailed check-up. As mentioned, early diagnosis helps in improving outcome. Treatment is also easier with early stage of disease. It is also good to know risk factors, which also indicate if you need to watch for symptoms. 

  1. Family history: Breast cancer can run in families, and if you have close relative(s) with breast cancer, watch out for symptoms.  Family member or self have a positive test for BRCA1 and BRCA2 Family history of other cancers Age Women over the age of 40 years are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer. 
  2. Hormones: Increased use of estrogen increases the chances of developing breast cancer. Therefore, women who have used birth control pills for long time or are on hormone replacement therapy are at greater risk.  
  3. Abnormal gynaecologic milestones: Women who have abnormal menstrual milestones are more predisposed to developing breast cancer. For instance, girls who have start of menstrual cycles before age of 12, get pregnant after 30, and reach menopause after 55. Women with menstrual irregularities including cycles earlier than 26 days and later than 29 days are also likely to have hormonal issues and are, therefore, at higher risk of breast cancer.  
  4. Other factors: Smoking, alcohol consumption, and obesity also increase the chances of a woman developing breast cancer."

I am male aged 57 years. In 1998, I had l4-l5 disc prolapse. After getting treatment for 5 years I was alright. But now since last 3 years, my calf muscles have become very stiff, unable to walk freely, developed gait problem (body disbalance) and sleeplessness. Presently I am using ropark 1 mg. Tab. Every night, but of no much help. Please Advise.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 1 wk, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I am suffering from sciatica for the last 6 months. Tried back exercises and muscle relaxants. The condition is due to L4/L5 disc herniation. Kindly advice.

Herniated disc is likely to have a course with repetitive episodes of back and leg pain. It is important to avoid postures that may complicate the situation. Surgery is usually recommended, if there is any evidence of neurologic deficit, such as weakness of toes, persistent numbness or bladder/ bowel dysfunction. Most such cases can be managed conservatively with a combination of medication and physio.

Breast cancers can originate from any part of the breast. Most of these cancerous growths start in the milk-carrying ducts. There are also cancerous growths in the glands that produce milk. These are known as lobular cancers. In rare cases, cancer may also start from the breast tissues. These are known as sarcomas and lymphomas.

Here are some of the ways to get prevented from the possibility of developing breast cancer:

  1. Check your weight: It is important that you maintain a healthy weight. You don’t need do follow the hard and fast dieting charts or starve. But eat a balanced diet and exercise a bit to maintain a stable and healthy weight throughout. Being obese or overweight increases the chance of developing breast cancer.
  2. Be Active: A sedentary lifestyle devoid of activities is something that invites diseases. It has been found that women who are physically active and exercise for at least 30 minutes a day are at a low risk of developing breast cancer.
  3. Don’t avoid fruits and vegetables: It is important for you to have a balanced diet. Include lots of leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet to avoid the possibility of developing any form of cancer. Don’t drink excessive alcohol on regular basis. Remember a healthy diet is a key to a healthy life.
  4. Don’t Smoke: Smoking increases the chance of developing heart diseases, stroke and 15 types of cancers. It also increases the risk for breast cancer.
  5. Breastfeed your baby: It is mandatory for good health that you breastfeed your baby. Exclusive breastfeeding is best for the health of your baby as well as yours. It lowers the chances of developing breast cancer.
  6. Avoid Birth Control Pills: These pills have side-effects. They increase the risk of developing breast cancer. It also increases the chances of developing heart diseases and ovarian cancer.
  7. Avoid Post-Menopausal Hormones: Post-menopausal hormones have an adverse effect on the health. They increase the risk of some diseases while lowering the effects of other ones. I have anterolithesis grade 1 disc bulge at l3-4 and diffuse disc bulge at l4-5.i have no pain but my both legs get numb while standing and walking for just 2-3 minutes. C.

Hello, Thanks for your query on Lybrate "As" per your clinical history is concerned please take medication as usual and discuss with your physio therapist for a specific exercise plan. If you have already tried then go for surgical treatment to decompress the nerve. Do follow lifestyle modifications like this - 1)Do exercise. Strengthening the trunk muscles helps stabilize and support the spine. 2)Try to maintain good posture. Good posture reduces the pressure on your spine and disks. Keep your back straight and aligned, particularly when sitting for long periods. Lift heavy objects properly, making your legs — not your back — do most of the work. 3)Try to maintain a healthy weight. Excess weight puts more pressure on the spine and disks, making them more susceptible to herniation. Hope that helps

I am 27 year old unmarried girl. I underwent Myomectomy last year for uterine fibroids. And the fibroid has regrown upto 11.9*7.8 cms in size on the anterior wall within a year. I have taken luprodox 3 doses and Ulipristal for 2 months already. Kindly suggest me the best solution (Myomectomy or UFE). Thank You.

It's a big fibroid .myomectomy. I would suggest to try tab mifepristone post surgery. If you r not looking for a pregnancy for a year.
