I am a 22 year old working female. Off late I have started putting on weight in my tummy, waist, hips and thighs because I keep sitting in one place. My diet is quite healthy. No junk or fatty foods most of the time. I hardly eat rice too. I get no time to exercise. Please suggest ways I can lose weight fast. (preferably without exercise because my routine does not permit so).

At work you can do some bit exercise. After every 2 hours, do some stretches and walk around/on stairs for 5 minutes. This way you can do at least 25-30 mins exercise during the day. Apart from that wherever you can, you must walk. To markets. Instead of lifts. Etc. You need to build in exercise in your daily routine. This is important to keep your joints, muscles and body toned and fit. It will also prevent various diseases. As for Diet >> > Keep 2-3 apples with you at all times and eat whenever hungry >> Keep drinking water throughout the day >> Skip the Colas and Cappuchinos >> - Add more Fruits /Salads/Proteins to your diet. - Cut down Oils/Sugar/Maida/Ghee from your diet. - Cut down Puris/Parathas/Pizzas/Burgers/Fried Rice. - Eat slowly and mindfully. - Reduce portion size. Take small bits of food in your plate.

Staying healthy is considered to be the first happiness. And, rightly so. Over years, there has been a lot of advancement in Medical Science and understanding of Health. Such has been the knowledge explosion that now we have Superspecialists treating just one system or one organ of the body. For e.g Knee Surgeon, Retina Surgeon, Liver Specialist etc.

While this is good for those patients who have difficult organ-specific troubles, let’s be clear that very few people (less than 10%) need such care. Most people are born healthy and if they live a disciplined life in terms of diet, physical activity, good sleep, etc., they will stay healthy and are unlikely to need a lot of medical interventions. There may be some routine illnesses like cough, fever, diarrhea, minor injuries, etc. which either subside or heal themselves or with a little support from a family doctor. Not all ills need pills.

In recent times, however, it is observed that thousands of procedures and prescriptions of doubtful benefit are employed due to multiple factors like scattered care, payment system, Free check-ups by companies or so called charities or marketing process, defensive medicine are provided to safeguard corporate players from litigations. Diagnostic Packages, etc. e.g, Preoperative ECG is not routinely required before eye surgery unless there is a known heart trouble or risk thereof. Quite often it appears like Services on “Sale” like you have for merchandise.

“Free check-ups or care” can become very expensive in long run. Even if free, a procedure or a drug can be potentially harmful. The first check-up may be free but it may lead to subsequent paid interventions which may be needless for all you know.

Hence in present times choosing your eye care provider and care process wisely is very necessary. Don’t get carried away by luring and fake advertisements of health improvement, etc. Don’t fall for “Free” checkups or care. There is no free lunch, someone pays either in cash or in kind! Health care interventions need to be customized to your specific needs and cannot be generalized and for that you need personalized services of a trusted doctor more than an impersonal huge glossy corporate setup.

There is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.

I am not diabetic, I am obese and I have stopped drinking for 6 months at a time but it did not make me lose any weight and nor did it help me in my premature ejaculation problem!

You also seem to have thyroid problems for which you are taking medications. It's good that you stopped drinking. I would suggest you to consult your endocrinologist to revise your thyroxine doses according to your most recent reports. Start exercising and get a diet plan from a dietician to help in weight loss. Always remember it's not magical! since you didnot gain overnight you won't lose weight overnight either. Good luck and take care.

Padahastasana is a yoga asana which addresses lower back pain by opening up the digestive channels and allowing the vata dosha to flow easily through the body. To practice this asana, stand with your legs together and lift your arms straight above your head while inhaling. As you exhale, bend forward from the hips while keeping your back and legs straight. Try and touch your toes. Hold the position for as long as possible and come back to the starting position while inhaling.
  • Anuloma Viloma: Anuloma Viloma is a breathing exercise that balances the vata dosha. This is a technique that involves breathing from alternate nostrils. To begin, close the right nostril with your thumb and inhale through the left nostril. Close both nostrils and hold your breath for a few seconds. Then, release through the left nostril. Repeat this process, starting from the left nostril.
  • Bishop's weed seed tea: Tea made from the seeds of Bishop's weed is can provide instant pain relief from low back pains. This is suitable for men and women of all ages except those with heart problems.

I am 22 years old and I have some sexual problem, I found that my testis are looking so weak. Also from a couple of days I feel some hard pain in my testis and inside of the penis. Dear lybrate user, first of all let me make it clear that you may experience nightfalls/nocturnal emission of sperm for twice in a month if you do not have a habit of masturbation or if you do not indulge in any sexual intercourse. However, if you experience nightfalls for more than twice in a month then it is surely abnormal. Every person experience an erection after a sleep of 6-8 hours. Such an erection during waking up from sleep is a typical characteristic of normal sexual system. An uninterrupted sleep of 6-8 hours pacifies the nerves which get hyper-activated after a long day's work & results in a sexual arousal by channelising the blood flow towards the male sexual system. But an erected penis cannot ejaculate involuntarily unless it is being rubbed as it undergoes during masturbation & sexual intercourse. Involuntary ejaculation of semen indicates that the internal muscles of your pelvic region are not strong enough to control the outflow of semen. However, nightfalls indicate that you are having a normal erection as well as it also proves that there is no deficit of sperm production in testis. Nightfall implies that there is only loss of control of the pelvic muscles. It is often observed that an unmarried person suffering from nightfalls complains of premature ejaculation after marriage if his problem of nightfalls is left untreated. The cause behind such quick discharge during sex is same as it is in case of nightfalls i. E. Loss of the control of the muscles of pelvic region.
