lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. The main reason for weakness is uncontrolled diabetes. The reported levels are too high. With high blood levels a lot of glucose is lost in the urine, which is the main reason for tired feeling. You may also be having some urinary infection (?) and creatinine is also a bit high. All this can be a consequence of uncontrolled diabetes. There is no mention about BP readings, Lipid profile and weight and height. Plus do you exercise daily? If yes what is the time spent? Plus your dietary intake also needs to be looked at. Plus also inform HbA1c%. My suggestion is that present anti-diabetic treatment is very inadequate, needs to be improved. That can improve your over all health. If you are keen please come in a private conversation with all details asked above, then I will be able to guide. Or else consult your local personal doctor and upgrade the treatment. But that is essential. Thanks.

My weight is not increasing since I was 15, now my age is 20. Am I suffering from thyroid?

My weight is not increasing since I was 15, now my age is 20. Am I suffering from thyroid?
Hello, according to ayurveda weight gain not only depends upon heavy diet but also on other factors like proper digestion, sound sleep, and mental relaxation. Your excess diet/protein powder is not being digested and hence major of its portion is being wasted as excreta. Try these modifications for weight gain- a) avoid fast food and spicy diet. B) avoid late night sessions. C) wakeup early before 6: 30 and perform yogasana like pawan muktasana and slight running schedule. D) increase sweets and dairy products in your diet. E) try to sleep at least eight hours a day. F) take thyroid medication along with this treatment for better results.

I have thyroid. Can you tell me how to reduce it. What food to eat and what to do instead of medicine.

MS - ENT,MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Kolkata
I am outlining  food you should avoid or restrict in Hypothyroidism. It's important  you maintain  your body weight exercise regularly. Weight gain increases thyroid hormone requirements. Avoid cruciferous   group of veggies  like cabbage and broccoli. Avoid soya bean in all forms. No soya ,nugget, chunk, tofu or milk. Limit their intake: Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, turnips, and bok choy. Cooking the vegetables can reduce the effect that cruciferous vegetables have on the thyroid gland. Limiting your intake to 5 ounces a day appears to have no adverse effect on thyroid function. Decrease gluten  intake from processed  food. Always try whole grain varieties of cereals which is rich in fibres and help improve  bowels (Take your thyroid replacement  medicine several hours before or several hours after food rich in fibres .Otherwise problem  with absorption  of hormone. 20 to 35 gram of fibres daily from all sources. Avoid excessive fatty (deep fried) and sugary food as hypothyroidism  causes your metabolism  to slow down &weight gain. Avoid highly salted food, chips, pickles, sauces as they contain  large amount of sodium .Hypothyroidism  puts you at risk of high BP and excess sodium in salt aggravates Coffee  in excess. And coffee with thyroid hormone  replacement  can prevent absorption. Alcohol. It is toxic to thyroid gland and prevents  hormone production and absorption. Hope this helps

You have to drink a lot of water and avoid purine rich meats and this is not too high now Most of it is excreted (removed from your body) in your urine, or passes through your intestines to regulate "normal" levels. Normal Uric acid levels are 2.4-6.0 mg/dL (female) and 3.4-7.0 mg/dL (male). Normal values will vary from laboratory to laboratory. Also important to blood uric acid levels are purines. To reduce the uric acid levels in blood, you may need to limit intake of alcohol, sugary foods and reduce purine rich foods like meat, poultry, seafood and pulses. Vegetables such as cauliflower, asparagus, spinach, peas and mushroom also contain a lot of purines

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area.

Hello lybrate-user, first, now a days, a diabetic patient can eat everything as long as his or her diet is balanced and high in fiber so that the sugar in food goes into the blood in a sustain way. I would recommend you to have complex carbohydrate sources as you need sugar for proper functioning of some of your vital organs like brain and keep your body mass healthy. Consume nutritious balanced diet, liberal amount of fluid, small amount frequent feed, avoid foods and drinks higher in calorie and lower or empty in nutrients, do regular physical exercises and get 8 hrs. Sound sleep. You should consult a dietician who will suggest you a proper and scientifically correct diet plan and only from there you can get a customized diet chart.

lybrate-user, Your BMI is 3737.69 kgs /M2 showing grade 2 obesity. Your ideal body weight should be 57 kgs. Since you have hypothyroidism, weight reduction is only possible if TSH level is between 3 to 4 mU/L. Once if that is achieved, then regular exercise and diet control will definitely be helpful. Thanks.
