Hello sir, hope you are doing good. Pls don't stop bp medication, unless doctor ask you to stop. Diabetes, bp require a long term medication. But this might also lead to your constipation problem. If you have constipation more than occasionally or have severe pain or bleeding, it's important to check-in with your doctor as these symptoms can be a sign of a more serious digestive disorder. However, in most cases constipation is just a sign that your diet needs more fiber. The average adult needs between 25 and 30 grams of fiber a day to ward off constipation, far less than most of us typically eat. To avoid bloating and cramping, you'll want to gradually add fiber to your diet. Badam, orange, apple has more fiber pls eat as raw. Dont make a juice of it. Let me suggest you some best fiber supplement from who certified. This fiber is easily digestible and give a best result you need to take after meals in the afternoon and evening. Just leave a message to me on my private questions. Have a nice day.

4 Tips to Keep Diabetes at Bay

MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS

4 Tips to Keep Diabetes at Bay

Diabetes is also known as diabetes mellitus, is a group of metabolic diseases, which raises the glucose level in the blood. If suffering from diabetes, parts of your body might get affected with other diseases as well, like bad eyesight, etc.

Diabetes is of 3 types:

  1. Type 1 Diabetes: where your body stops insulin production.
  2. Type 2 Diabetes: where your body does not produce enough insulin to function on or where the cells of your body do not react toward the insulin produced
  3. Gestational Diabetes: This is the diabetes you or your partner may suffer from during pregnancy.

Suffering from diabetes can make your lifestyle extremely difficult as you will have to go through a lot of restrictions. In order to avoid diabetes and its various outcomes, here are some tips you can follow:

  1. Keep your weight in control: Make sure you are of the right weight according to your height. If you are more than what you should weigh, and you are creeping towards obesity, you have a high chance of succumbing to diabetes. If you are already obese, start working towards losing weight. Even if you lose 5% of your weight, you will slash the risk of having diabetes by 70%.
  2. Walk: No exercise is better and easier than walking. Try walking as much as you can. Walking will help you reduce the risk of getting affected with diabetes. If you walk for around 35 minutes every day, you are cutting down the risk of diabetes by almost 30%. Walking, being an exercise, helps your body use the insulin produced in your body more efficiently.
  3. Drink coffee: Coffee, unlike common belief of being harmful, is actually very beneficial when it comes to keeping diabetes at bay. Coffee contains caffeine, which is believed to improve metabolism. Coffee also has potassium, magnesium and various antioxidants which enable the cells to absorb glucose. Drinking coffee regularly might lower the risk of diabetes by 29%.
  4. Get proper rest at night: If you sleep for less than 6 hours every night, then the risk of you suffering from diabetes is doubled. But that doesn't mean you are supposed to oversleep. If you sleep more than 8 hours, the risk of being affected with it rises to almost 75%. Hence sleep at least for 6 to 8 hours each night for a healthy life sans diabetes.

Start the same dose of thyroid hormone with which it was controlled earlier and continue it and regularly recheck it. Don't stop medicines without consultation with Physician.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Following are the criteria to decide if one is normal or otherwise: 1) Normal: Fasting Glucose: 70 to 110 mg, PP:<140 mg & HbA1c% <5.9 2) Pre-diabetes: FBG: 108 to125 mg, PP: 141 to199 mg, & HbA1c% 5.9 to 6.4. 3) Diabetes: FBG: 126 mg and above, PP: 200 mg and above, HbA1c%:6.5 and above. Your blood glucose levels are absolutely normal. Thanks.

According to some professional doctors, if I am not pre diabetic patient, Fbs show show 70 to 110, for me it will show 114, 112& some time it show 97 and PPbs normal showed be 80 to 140, mines it shows 135, 138 & 125 like that, but HbA1c - 5.6,really I don't have pre diabetes? Bcoz of this tension I am suffering from headache, not only me becoz of my behaviour my kids are very sad, even my husband is fully tension. Now what had happened means every intake in take after that I want test the reading, it has become habit since from one week. I am became nervous due to this change in my body. Next week we planned to go for vocational, even I think I won't enjoy their also due to this fully diet. I am fully confused what to eat r not to eat.

Bhuvanshreeji, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details provided I really do not see the reason for you to be worried. I am giving below the criteria to diagnose various stages related to blood glucose. 1)Normal: FBG: 70 to 110 mg, PP <140 mg & HBA1c%<5.9. 2) Pre-diabetes : FBG 108 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg & HbA1c% 5.9 to 6,4. 3)Diabetes : FBG 126 mg and above, PP 200 mg and above & HbA1c%6.5 and above. Therefore there is really no reason to worry. Some of FBG levels have shown 112, 114 etc. That could be called as pre-diabetes. But PP levels are absolutely fine. Please remember Type 2 diabetes is a preventable condition, if one maintains good healthy diet, regular exercise of over 1 hour a day and maintains normal weight. Your BMI 24.21 kgs/M2 (normal <23 kgs/M2), which is marginally high. You can cut down a few (3 to 4 kgs) weight very easily. Madam please understand a person with diabetes can live an absolutely normal life if the blood glucose is well controlled. At present level you are neither in prediabetic state or any where near it. Plus your weight is fairly good. So if you take care of diet, take healthy balance diet, eat more of green leafy vegetables and fruits, plus avoid junk foods and pastries and bakery items and exercise for 1 hour a day(brisk walking), then you will be fit and free from diabetes. So please do not worry and spoil the pleasant atmosphere at your home. I am sure you do it. Thanks

Fatty liver is the deposition of excessive fat in the liver and it may be asymptomatic mostly. usually there is no treatment for the same except making some dietary modifications and excercise which may relieve it. Homoeopathy offers good solution for the same . Its done after identifying the cause of this condition by studying the body and the mind of the patient which is genetically determined. if you are interested opt for a homoeopathic consultation. usually fatty livers wont cause a problem but some cases may go for liver damage and cirrhosis

I am suffering from thyroid I put my weight too much present my thyroid level is 0.14 I am using thyroxine 100 mg my doctor (endocrinologist) suggested to me to continue the power for more long time. He feels it helps to reduce my weight is it true? Have I can any side effects to use the high power?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
lybrate-user, Ideally all symptoms are well controlled when TSH level is maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L. 0.14 mU/L is a lower than expected level. 100 mcg of thyroxine is not going to cause any side effects. With current TSH level you should be able to reduce weight provided regular exercise is done with diet restriction. Thanks.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hypothyroidism has to be controlled very effectively for getting pregnant and also for proper growth of the fetus and health outcome of the pregnancy. SInce there is no mention about TSH and T4 levels, or the dosage of thyroxine being taken, it is difficult to give any opinion. Thanks.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query Your information is very scanty. There is only mention about having diabetes, but no details about blood glucose levels & HbA1c%.Plus no other info on BP, lipid profile etc, so it is difficult to give any opinion why there is choking sensation. Please get a detailed blood check up, plus ECG and then come back. Thanks.
