Hi, I'm a 64 years old male feel losing balance while bent downwards or sideways and on lying down. Kindly advise.
Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Loosing balance while bending down etc can be caused by a variety of reasons. Most common reason is anxiety and obsession. Still I suggest you to consult a physician for investigation and guidance. Take care.

I am suffering from psoriasis from past 10 years. Have taken homoeopathic medicine.

MD - Homeopathy, PGDMLS, Diploma in Naturopathy & Yogic Science (DNYS), NDDY, Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery

I am suffering from psoriasis from past 10 years. Have taken homoeopathic medicine.
Dear Lybrate-User, Do not worry, the solution to Psoriasis is available with us and many patients of severe psoriasis have been relieved from psoriasis permanently with no relapses in a comparatively short duration. As you mentioned you are suffering from psoriasis for past 10 years, I cannot suggest any medicines or local applications to you as I will require a complete case taking so that the root cause is eliminated to prevent relapse and quick relief. It is extremely important that you as a patient are educated about psoriasis so that you can take necessary precautions as they will determine the duration of treatment. I am providing some preventive measures that you can ensure. Psoriasis is the chronic, non-infectious, inflammatory dermatitis, characterized by well demarcated erythematous plaques, topped by silvery white scales. A normal skin cell matures in 28-30 days but a psoriatic skin takes 3 to 6 days. It can strike at any age, but most often between 15 and 35 years. Psoriasis most commonly appears on scalp, knee, elbow, hands, and feet. It rarely affects the face. The exact cause of the disease is unknown, but few related causes are: -Familial disease brought on by stress, anxiety and mental trauma. -Physical injury -Digestive upset in genetic constitution. -Infection -Drug allergies. Pressure and trauma seem to determine the localization of psoriasis. Whereas the precipitating factors of the disease are the streptococcal infection, diabetes, and purines in the diet. Both topical and systemic treatment conventionally taken may relieve scales for some time only to re-appear at a later stage. Preventive Treatment: - the treatment should be continued till the last lesion has disappeared. The relapse rate is low, if the attack is completely controlled. -general health should be studied and should be regulated so that no undue stress affects either body or mind. -A moderate war on climate frequent sunbathes before the onset of winters and visit to sulphur springs all of which are useful to bringing down the relapse ratio natural sulphur bath should be taken -In winters, animal proteins and fats should be avoided. At Valeda Wellness Centers, the researched Homeopathic oral remedies along with the supported external modalities and external applications are aimed at yielding highly sustained relief from psoriasis. I would advise that you book an appointment so that your treatment can be started immediately.

Working on night shift is good for health if not what are the measures to be taken.

BHMS
Homeopath, Sindhudurg
Working on night shift is good for health if not what are the measures to be taken.
No Try not to work a number of night shifts in a row. You may become increasingly more sleep-deprived over several nights on the job. You're more likely to recover if you can limit night shifts and schedule days off in between. Avoid frequently rotating shifts. If you can't, it's easier to adjust to a schedule that rotates from day shift to evening to night rather than the reverse order. Try to avoid long commutes that take time away from sleeping. If you're working the night shift, expose yourself to bright light, such as that from special light boxes, lamps, and visors designed for people with circadian-related sleep problems, when you wake up. Limit caffeine. Drinking a cup of coffee at the beginning of your shift will help promote alertness. But don't consume caffeine later in the shift or you may have trouble falling asleep when you get home. Avoid bright light on the way home from work, which will make it easier for you to fall asleep once you hit the pillow. Don't stop to run errands, tempting as that may be. Stick to a regular sleep-wake schedule as much as you can. Ask your family to limit phone calls and visitors during your sleep hours. Use blackout blinds or heavy curtains to block sunlight when you sleep during the day. "Sunlight is a potent stimulator of the circadian rhythm, "Even if your eyes are closed, the sunlight coming into the room tells your brain that it's daytime. Yet your body is exhausted and you're trying to sleep. That discrepancy is not a healthy thing for the body to be exposed to.

Knee Pain - Ayurvedic Remedies For It!!

Knee Pain - Ayurvedic Remedies For It!!

Ayurveda is a very old system of medicine, which originated in India. Using herbs found in nature to cure various illnesses, knee pain can also be permanently cured with this method indigenous to India. It reduces knee pain caused by various illnesses including arthritis, inflammation of the cartilage and wearing of the patella among others. Here are some common Ayurvedic remedies, which help reduce knee pain:

  1. Alfalfa: Alfalfa is medically known as Medicago Sativa. Alfalfa is excellent for making sure that your joint pain reduces, when taken in liquid form four times a day.
  2. Ashwagandha: Ashwagandha is medically known as Withania Somnifera. In the West, Ashwagandha is popularly known as Winter Cherry. Also, it has a lot of therapeutic properties, which include reducing joint pains.
  3. Banyan: The Banyan tree's medical name is Ficus Benghalensis. It has a sap very similar to the form of rubber known as latex is derived from the Banyan tree. The Banyan tree's sap is externally applied over the joints and the pain usually disappears after a few regular applications.
  4. Bishop's weed: The medical name for Bishop's weed is Trachyspermum Ammi. The oil extracted from this herb is usually applied to the knees to reduce the intensity of such knee pains.
  5. Celery: The medical name for celery is Apium Graveolens. Celery is not only an effective treatment for rheumatoid arthritis and associated pains in the knees, but it is also helpful in treating gout. It is usually agreed upon that this particular treatment is usually long lasting because of its alkaline nature.
  6. Dandelion: Dandelion's biological name is Taraxacum Officinale. It is rich in magnesium and is crucial for the correct mineralization of the bones. This mineralization allows the bones to become stronger and also prevents knee pain.
  7. Garlic: The medical name for garlic is allium sativum. Five to six cloves eaten everyday has proved to reduce knee pains.
  8. Ginger: Ginger is biologically called Zingiber Officinale. These can be easily included in your diet and go a long way in curbing knee pain.

Don’t worry. You can lose weight easily if you are patient and determined to shed those extra kilos. You just have to alter your daily routine, watch what you eat and be physically active. This requires you to be on your weight loss commitment for quiet long. As soon as you start seeing the results, you will be surprised as well as motivated to go beyond your weight loss and adopt and a lifelong healthy attitude. For a start please follow: 1. Watch what you eat – Are you eating too much junk, drink excessive alcohol and eating too much white food and sugar? Please cut it down to as low as you can from tomorrow. Cut down tea/coffee if you are too addicted to it. It is creating havoc inside your body. 2. Lifestyle – Are you a late sleeper and late riser? You can’t imagine what this schedule of yours is doing to your metabolism. It is degrading your digestive system from inside and your looks from outside. 3. Physically active – If you are a couch potato who loves to watch tv whole day then throw that couch of yours in the street and get yourself a treadmill tomorrow. Yes it is as simple as that. Who is stopping you? You have to be physically active all day long if you want to burn those extra calories. Do daily brisk walk, Pranayam, atleast 20 surayanamaskar everyday to start seeing the results. Take break between office work to walk a little or rather just climb some stairs to get that food you ate in lunch have space and heat to digest and absorb. What’s the harm in using your washroom to do a little middle of the day squats. Do that – No one is watching you. The key is to stay physically active all day long, no matter what. 4. Eat healthy and eat on time: Not only eating healthy is important but eating at right time is equally imp too. Have an early breakfast and early dinner and have 4 small meals between breakfast and dinner. To guide you a bit, here you go: A. Breakfast (Between 8-10 a. M) – Have oats/porridge or brown bread with milk and nuts. B. At 11 a. M - Cup of Green Tea c. Mid day meal (around 12 p. M) – Have a bowl of fruits. Citrus fruits are best taken during this hour and absorb well in the body. Have oranges, amla, pineapple etc during this hour. D. Lunch (between 2-3 p. M) – Daal, roti, mix veg, buttermilk and salad. You can also take brown rice with daal in lunch. Try to get your food cooked in olive oil. Lace your salad with apple cider vinegar, black pepper and seeds like flaxseeds or chia seeds to make it nutrition packed lunch. E. Between 4 p. M – 5 p. M – Cup of Green Tea F. Evening (4-6 p. M) – Have some nice sprouts with tomatoes and cucumber. G. Dinner (2 hours before sleeping, preferably before 9 p. M) – Paneer & veggies salad with olive oil, Roti or brown rice with Daal. H. Have a glass of warm milk. Weight loss is 80% about what you eat and 20% about exercises. That said, both the things go hand in hand. If you want to lose weight in a more healthy way than be patient and just follow the regimen everyday. Slow and steady wins the race.

IMy weight has gona up to 98 kgs to 102 kgs. I want to loose my weight. Please help.
WEIGHT 1. Whole-grain bread. Research shows that people who follow a weight-loss program incorporating whole-grain breads, cereals, and other foods lose more body fat from the abdominal area than those who eat only refined-grain foods, like white bread and rice. 2. Low-fat milk and yogurt. Scientists have found that the more calcium in fat cells, the more fat those cells will burn. In one study, two groups of overweight mice were put on a restricted-calorie diet, but one also got calcium supplements. The no-calcium mice lost 8 percent of their body fat, compared to 42 percent among the mice that did get calcium. 3. Lean protein. Good sources of protein, such as lean meats, eggs, and beans, help keep your blood sugar stable. The result youll feel full longer and get a boost in energy and that will help you burn more belly fat. Consult me in private for detailed treatment and to ascertain your personality symptomatically.

I am suffering from obesity. How to reduce my fat and control obesity? Wait for you r response.

I am suffering from obesity. How to reduce my fat and control obesity?
Wait for you r response.
Being a dietitian my views: there is no single diet chart for everyone. To plan a specific diet we do collect lot of information like height, weight, food frequency, digestive history, medical history, likes, dislike, lifestyle, eating habits. Remember one thing to follow a diet it should be personalized according to person's body type and not generalized. Starting with there is no pills or powder or shake which can help you to lose weight in a healthy way. To lose weight eat an hour within walking up and dinner at least 2 hours before you sleep. Avoiding eating anything after dinner. Breakfast should be your king size have good complex carbohydrates and protein rich. Eat every 2 hours small frequent meal do help in weight loss. And do not overeat. One can come to ideal body weight with few lifestyle modification. Have green tea only 2 cups a day. For exercise I would say diet plays 80 % role and exercise plays 20 % role in losing weight. Personal advise on gym. You should not make your body habituated with machines rather do simple walk or surya namaskar or planks. So only with healthy eating one can lose weight.
