Hello, Since how long you have been suffering from this problem? Any associated symptoms or complaints? Any medical condition do you have? Have you got your investigations done (if yes, share the reports with me)? Answer all these questions for proper diagnosis and proper treatment. Any nutritional deficiency can also lead to irregularity. Take more of green vegetables, nuts, salads, seasonal fruits, yellow coloured veggies, milk & milk products, plenty of water and enough of sleep & rest. Take homoeopathic medication for your irregular menses – Schwabe's Pulsatilla 200/ once daily for 10 days (not to take during menstrual flow), Schwabe's Five Phos. And Alfaalfa Tonic – both thrice daily for 1 month. There after revert me back..take care.

Premarital Counseling

Hello, I am Dr. Yashica Gudesar I am a Gynecologist practicing in Dwarka since 17 years and I have a special interest in premarital and preconception counseling. Premarital counseling is very important think now days. Premarital counseling is a therapy that helps couple to prepare for marriage. In marriage, before getting married you should know each other well, you should know the relation, how to get in a relationship and how to complete a relationship and in the relationship what the problems you are facing. In India, we are getting married but we are not talking to each other. We are meeting each other we are talking to each other nut we are not talking about the further things which are involved during after the marriage like the contraception and planning about a baby so that is very important. We should decide early we should… when are we going to plan a baby because unplanned pregnancy are also not very good. We should always have a planned pregnancy and we should go for a preconception counseling. If you are going for a marriage, you should better go with your partner to a doctor and get yourself investigated. There are some test that need to be done like HIV, Hepatitis-B, DVRL some STD tests which is required to be rules out if you or your partner is suffering from an STD. because if any STD is there then post marriage you have some infection like honeymoon cystitis and pelvic Inflammatory diseases which might cause problem in initial months just after marriage. Better get yourself investigated and your partner investigated. The aim of premarital counseling is to prevent oneself from having unwanted pregnancies, to prevent oneself from infectious diseases, prevent from having an unsuccessful relation and to have a planned pregnancy. We should know what the fertile period is, what is the safe period and when is the time when there are high chances to get pregnant and what are the period when you are less chances of getting married. So and you should know completely about contraception. Contraception is very important because if you are planning to get married and into a relationship you should use contraception it’s depending on whether you are planning a baby or you not planning a baby. Just after marriage using a barrier method like a condom and oral contraceptive pills are the best methods to be used together just for 3 to 6 months till you decide which more of you are comfortable in. it is always better to discuss with your doctor. You should start planning 1 month, at least, one month prior to your marriage, because contraceptive pills oral contraceptive pills have effect starting one month if taken one month before. By failing to prepare, you preparing to fail. Thank you and if you want to further contact me you can video call me, you call on Lybrate or you can visit by website and the blog and we can have a discussion of premarital counseling. Thank you

DMPA contains a progestogen. This is similar to the hormone progesterone, which is naturally produced by the female body. DMPA is given by injection every 12 weeks and is slowly absorbed into the blood stream to prevent pregnancy. Side effects; Side effects include weight gain and menstrual cycle changes. Nearly all women experience alterations in the menstrual cycle—irregular bleeding, spotting, or rarely, heavy bleeding. After 6 months, fewer women experience excessive or frequent bleeding, and more women experience amenorrhea.

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. The development of pregnancy is counted from the first day of the woman's last normal menstrual period (LMP), even though the development of the fetus does not begin until conception, which is about two weeks later. You must count April dates if your last menstruation date is in April. Take care.

How Much is Too Much SITTING? And, How Deadly is it?

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
How Much is Too Much SITTING? And, How Deadly is it?
Do you know that sitting for too long, i.e. for more than 8 hours, can significantly increase your chances of suffering from heart disease, diabetes and cancer while shortening your lifespan?

Although it’s still not clear as to how sitting can lead to poor health, one of the causes that researchers cite is a fall in metabolic activity, which has an adverse effect on your body’s fat and sugar levels, making you vulnerable to various health disorders.

Ideally, sitting or any sedentary activity associated with sitting shouldn't make up more than 4-5 hours of your day. Several studies have revealed how sitting for long hours can be bad for your health:
- It increases your chances of dying from Cardiovascular disease by 18%
- You face an increased risk (about 17%) of dying from Cancer if you sit for a very long
- Prolonged sitting can cause your risk of suffering from Type 2 Diabetes increase by 91%

To negate the effects that sitting might have on your health, you need to move around or stand up from time to time. You might begin by standing as often as you get the chance to, or try to walk if your work allows you to. Other strategies that you could adopt are:
- Instead of sitting, have your lunch or talk on the phone standing
- Increase your physical activity by taking the stairs
- Take 1-3 minutes break every 30 minutes to stand or walk around
- Exercise or stand when watching TV
- Lastly, try to lessen your daily sitting period by 15 - 20 minutes every day

When you're standing or moving, you end up improving your metabolism, which is responsible for fat and sugar burning. As a result, there’s an increase in your energy levels, which in turn increases your stamina and also helps in shedding off the extra kilos. When you sit, these processes stop performing, thereby increasing your chances of suffering from various diseases.

To clear your doubts I will suggest you to get her urine checked for pregnancy and follow up with reports for further guidance and if negative we can plan for initiation of withdrawal bleeding.

I pill is emergency contraceptive pill & not to be taken casually 4-5 times in a month as and when thought. Instead go in for oral contraceptive pill daily dose which will regularise period & also help in not getting pregnancy.
