Back pain is very common in females especially after delivery because the abdominal muscles get stretched and weakened. Her pain may be due to her posture during her daily activities. She needs to strengthening exercises for her back. Muscles which she can learn from a physiotherapist. Perform these exercises on a daily basis after hot fomentation. Also modify your posture while working. Do not bend from back if you have to bend, bend at the knees, take a side turn to get up from the bed etc.

Hi, she may be suffering from osteoarthritis of knee joints or from rheumatoid arthritis if she has morning stiffness of finger and hand joints. She requires xray of both knees standing view to confirm on same. For ruling out ra requires blood tests like cbc, ra factor, crp. Knee cap and physiotherapy will help to an extent. Medicines like pain killers may reduce pain for the time. Get back with xray/ consult ortho surgeon.

Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the cervical spine. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. HI DEAR U CAN FOLLOW THIS EXERCISE I HOPE U WILL FIT AND FINE Thanks Knees bear most of our body weight, unfortunately, they are one of the most ignored body parts. The knee joints are the first to bear the brunt of your increasing weight and also the first joints to start giving up on you, giving rise to ailments like knee pain and inflammation of the joint, which when left untreated, can ruin your knees forever. Here are a few exercises you can do to strengthen your knees and avoid knee problems in future. 1. Leg extensions-Leg extensions are done with the help of a leg extension machine. Begin with using light weights and slowly increase the weights. Sit on the machine with your knees bent at a ninety-degree angle and feet under the pads (of the exercise machine) pointing towards the front. Make sure your knees are in a straight line with the toes and don’t cross the toe line. If knees are over the toe, you may hurt your knees. Sit straight with your spine erect and hold the side bars. Now slowly extend your legs as much as you can. Do not jerk your knee. Slowly lower the leg and come back to the original position. To intensify the workout, you can lift the weights by extending one leg at a time and hold the position for ten seconds and then lower the weight. 2. Standing Leg extensions–The best part about standing leg extensions is you don’t need a machine for this exercise. All you need is a resistance band and a hook to anchor it. Begin with anchoring the resistance band to a wall or a strong support that won’t budge. Attach the band to your ankle and stand away from the support so that the band doesn’t sag but is stretched. Stand with both your feet at the same distance from the support. Hold on to a chair for support if needed. Take your right leg behind to a point where the band just begins to stretch and slowly extend it. Make sure your leg is steady and toes point forward. You can hold the extended position for ten seconds to increase the tension. 3. Static Squat– Squats not only strengthen your knees but also work out your quadriceps. To do a static squat, you can take the support of a wall or any other fixed object. Hold the support with your hands fully extended in front of you and elbows straight. Now, slowly lower yourself as if your are sitting on a chair. Go down only till your knees are bent at a right angle, and do not go beyond that. Your back should be straight and not rounded, and the knees shouldn’t cross the toe line.

Rheumatoid Arthritis - 9 Ways You Can Manage the Discomfort

Rheumatoid arthritis is a painful disease of the joints, mostly affecting older people. It mostly results in swollen, aching joints that make movement extremely challenging. Rheumatoid arthritis results in receding and tenderness of the synovial membrane. This leads to a decline in flexibility, causing intense distress, thus hindering daily activities.

Steps to manage the discomfort caused by it

  1. There is no complete cure for Rheumatoid arthritis. The discomfort however, can be controlled to a certain extent with regular exercises, change in diet and medications.

  2. Regular exercise can help in increasing the flexibility, maintaining the synovial fluid between joints that help in lubrication.

  3. Home remedies including use of medical oils to massage the affected joints on a regular basis. In this case, there are several herbal or Ayurvedic oils available, that can provide temporary remedy.

  4. It is important to increase the intake of vitamin D. This can be done by spending a short while out in the sun every day. Vitamin D supplements are also available in the form of capsules.

  5. A decrease in the alcohol consumption is highly recommended to people with bones and joints disorders.

  6. Swimming is an excellent exercise as it causes minimal labour on the joints. It is extremely beneficial to all people.

  7. It is important to lose excess weight, so as to lessen the pressure on the joints.  For example, heavy and wide waist structure can affect the knees in the long run. It can help increase your energy level and help you function efficiently.

  8. Smoking and drinking affect almost all organs of the body eventually and lead to a painful death or physical abnormalities. It has been found that overindulgence in alcohol and tobacco can also flare up chances of rheumatoid arthritis.

  9. It has been found that rheumatoid arthritis mostly affects women. Therefore, women need to be exceptionally cautious about their daily exercise schedule and diet.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.
