Dear Ms. lybrate-user, I went through your query in detail and from what you have mentioned, it is clear that despite being on medicines, you are still having the symptoms of depression. The medicines that you have mentioned consists of two salts, an anti depressant Escitalopram and a sedative Clonazepam. Youu haven't mentioned how long you have been taking this tablet. If it has been more than two weeks, had I been your psychiatrist I would have considered increase in dose of the antidepressant. The best way forward will be to talk to your psychiatrist and discuss with him the option of increasing the dose. You can also consider adding psychotherapy sessions which will help you recover. Best wishes.

Dear, stress is simply a reaction to a stimulus that disturbs our physical or mental equilibrium. In other words, it's an omnipresent part of life. A stressful event can trigger the? fight-or-flight? response, causing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to surge through the body. A little bit of stress, known as? acute stress? can be exciting? it keeps us active and alert. But long-term, or? chronic stress? can have detrimental effects on health. You may not be able to control the stressors in your world, but you can alter your reaction to them. I need to know, what are the causes with which you are stressed? once you know the reason, you will be able to adjust with it with some tips and tricks. Please let me know the details. Take care.

Sir, I am too serious about my career. I also take small small things into pressure. If anyone angry on me I felt that I am looser. I am not angry person. I can't raise my voice against wrong decisions of any one related to me. I am afraid of unknown people. I can't easily phase unknown people specifically if he/she is at higher position like managed or head or boss and also can't raise my voice if they are wrong. But in my mind I fill same on me and I thought on the topics which are related to my career again and again. I feel anxious sometime and sometime it feels that the attack will come on my heart. My mind never thought to go behind because I was average as student. But in my class all are toppers. They doing well in each and every work. But I can't study and work like them. So many time I insulted by my professors in my bachelor of engineering career. So I am very judgmental about my career and do not accept thing easolily and thinking about them again and again. I completed my 4 years of bachelor of engineering with lots of fear because I am average student. But I proved my self I will tolerate but not claim any issue against any bad thing it is my big Problem. I want to achieve highest education I wat be like other professionals in any way. I am vey anxious about it. But I am afraid of unknown people. I can't easily interact with them. I feel that he/she will avoid me and also angry on me. After that o feel like rejection. Due to this sometime I leave all my tension of study one side and go with my some naugty friends of my society. So that I feel happy. But it is for some time. Then I also think that this is not original happiness. original happiness is what I achieve in my life. Sometime I want to do nothing and want to sleep whole day but this is also very scary. I feel lik I have nothing to do. I thought that how others will remain home at homw whole day. I can't sit at home without any work. I always want to busy in work. But the work should be respective. But I am in this condition that I have no direction but I want to do it. I want to be person like shahrukh khan comedy and also successful. But in my life it is not possible. Because I always seem people who are stand first and also their behaviour is alway boss type. So I always feeling loose against them. I want to tell much more but I can't explain you. Now a days I started to hear brahmakumairs lectures. I am attracted towards their views about life. But same way I also feel that if I am not feel fear I can't do any work and only I will enjoy the tv and sleep. So acc to my view career and peace of mind both important. But I can't make mak it balanced. I am very judgmental. I also feel that others are bigger than me in any profession. Dear you should follow my these instructions seriously - *first you have to stop thinking that you are nothing. You are very good and intelligent thats why you have passed all your education. * do not think that you feel nothing. You are feeling everything thats why you told about your deep feeling of your heart. Follow my these best instruction that you must follow everyday to make yourself feel more confident and better person - * on getting up every morning, just stand in front of mirror and say you are happy and you can do anything. By saying these words, you get positive energy about yourself and that makes you feel better. * in morning and evening, take a little time for meditation. You just have to sit in a peaceful place, close your eyes and take long breaths in and out. While breathing just concentrate on breathing only and do it for atleast 10-15 minutes daily. * when ever anything make you feel stressed, do not try to hide it. Just go to your parents or the nearest person you trust most and talk to him/her about the problem and discuss it very clearly. It will solve the problem and make you feel that you are not alone in the world. *join the charity functions and help those persons which are so poor and can not afford their meal and other daily routine things. Helping other make you feel inspired and boost your confidence level. * go to the temple or any nearest religious place who you believe daily. Going to that place daily give you positive energy and bless your life by the grace of god. Apply these things in your life and I assure you that you feel that your life have changed completelyy and you live your life with full confidence.

Tobacco and nicotine are intoxicants which are bad for body, mind and well-being. One should be ready to realize the bad effects, then one can avoid cigarettes by engaging mind and body in more constructive activities.

Mother feels discomfort and depressed. She doesn't get sleep although she doesn't have any sort of tension.
Dear lybrate-user, Diabetes and depression go together in many persons. Depression is a disorder of brain chemicals causing feelings. It does not come through only tension. Please request your doctor to refer her to psychiatrist or let him/her consult a psychiatrist on your mother's behalf. She may be given an antidepressant in addiction to other medicines. Let her not try any sleeping tablets on her own. Unless depression is treated, she will not be able to sleep with sleeping tablets also.

Dear user, I can understand. You must understand the difference between alcohol addiction and abuse. You can definitely quit alcohol in one go. Just stop it and swear not to drink again. Engage yourself in games and other engaging activities during evenings or when you feel the urge. Just a week, your habit should change. There are many other methods, which you can see through internet. The best method is what I suggested. Please try it without fail. Take care.

Dear lybrate-user, mobile phone addiction is almost equivalent to other addictions. The pleasure center of your brain gets activated and it asks you for more and more. You need to find another alternative activity which gives you more pleasure than mobile phone. Engaging in entertainment, games etc can give you more pleasure.

I am a 35 year old male 6ft, 80 kgs. I have been smoking an average of 5 cigarettes per day for last 20 years. My health was good until 5 years back, my mother expired due to cardiac arrest, at home and in front of my eyes. I was very attached to my mother and could not handle the trauma. Everyday post that day, I used to blank out and felt racing heartbeats, and a feeling of getting passed out. Everyday my father used to take me to hospital in emergency wherein doctors would do ecg and echo too of a couple of occasions. Everyone suggested that trauma was the reason behind all this feeling. I resumed office after a couple of weeks and tried to forget the issue. After about 6 months, I was driving back from office when I felt an urgency to pass urine which I did. 15 minutes later I felt palpitations and again an urge to ease out. For the remaining portion of my journey I kept on urinating every 5-10 minutes and my hands, face and feet started tingling. By the time I pulled up at a nursing home, my whole body was shaking vigorously. When I entered doctor' s cabin, my hands, feet and tongue started twisting and I was barely able to speak anything. Doctor injected something in my arm post which I was fine in 5 min. He told me that this is panic attack. After that day I had been feeling tingling in my hands, feet and face on a daily basis along with palpitations and frequent urination. I have consulted numerous cardiologists, gastro experts, general physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and the list is unending. Although with my latest treatment, things are in control and I do not face the panic attacks daily, but that feeling of tingling does not go away, coupled with the persistent fear of dying. I want to regain the same mental and physical self confidence that I had before my mother' s death. Please help.

Psychologist, Bangalore
Your mother? s death has left a huge vacuum in your life, and that has triggered the panic attack. The smoking would have contributed to the poor response to stress and trauma. The tingling is probably the effect of this long period of smoking. You need to develop you physical constitution and your emotional fitness. The smoking has to go. These panic attacks are nothing but an exaggeration of your response to normal stimulus. The death you witnessed of your mother has to be wiped out of your memory banks through some therapy. Also, I suspect that your attachment to your mother may border on some unhealthy symbiosis with her. You were 30 years that that time and I think that you should have been able to handle that situation better. Now, I don? t want you to get the notion that her death was to be taken lightly or that it was easy. Relatively speaking, a person of your age could have handled it better. However, it is the closeness that you had with her that made you vulnerable. So you need to deal with that in counseling. Further to develop emotional fitness, you must work on, your fear in particular, and learn to express it and reach out from it. You are having daily trauma and reactions of self-induced heart attack-like symptoms and you cannot live like this except by some extensive counseling. You will be surprised how quickly and effectively these symptoms will disappear, if you cooperate and go for therapy. The mind is very powerful and together with unexpressed emotions can play havoc with your life and system. After seeking the doctor? s permission, I suggest that you get into a healthy regimen of exercise, good diet, and proper sleep; and perhaps settle down in marriage. This latter will help generally, and not as a solution to your problem.

I'll smoke usually so for further side effect I should not get addicted so what is the solution.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Wonderful decision. You must quit it and quickly too. When quitting, you must take one day at a time; though you must give up all smoking at once, and promptly. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine gums and nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here’s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world – you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

Hello- this is due to summer season, sleep disturbances are commom around this time. Try these ayurvedic tips to get benefits- 1) replenish your body with some sweet sharbat (ruhafja etc) daily, instead of drinking plain water. 2) increase the amount of dairy products in your meals. 3) massage your head with coconut oil during bed time, it soothes your brain tissues. 4) use gulkanda with meals.
