All About Child Bedwetting

Bedwetting, also known as Nocturnal Enuresis, can be referred to as the unintended and involuntary urination during sleep. Enuresis, being a medical term, stands for wetting, whether during the day in full clothing or at night in bed. For young children and infants, urination is certainly involuntary. It is worth note that children who wet their beds are not actually being disobedient or lazy.

Child Bedwetting can be classified into two types- Primary and Secondary

Primary Bedwetting

It has been continuing since the phase of early childhood without a halt; which means the child bed-wets every night.


  1. The child is unable to hold urine over the length of the night.

  2. The child cannot wake up in case his or her bladder is almost full..

  3. The child has been taught poor toilet habits as he/she puts off urinating for hours during the day.

Secondary Bedwetting

Secondary bedwetting can be an indication of a repressed medical or emotional condition.


  1. Infection of the urinary tract can cause irritation and pain along with a strong urge to urinate.

  2. People suffering from diabetes need to urinate frequently.

  3. Any injury or abnormality of the nervous system can take a toll on the neurological balance that fundamentally controls urination

  4. A peculiarity in the muscles or other organs that are involved in urination can be the reason behind bedwetting.

How to address the problem of bedwetting?

  1. Motivational Therapy: This involves parents motivating their children to reinforce their sense of self-control over bed-wetting.

  2. Moisture alarms that can detect wetness in the child’s trousers while sleeping and sound an alarm bell to wake the child up.

  3. Tricyclic anti-depressants that lower the amount of urine produced by the kidney.

Don’t worry. You can lose weight easily if you are patient and determined to shed those extra kilos. You just have to alter your daily routine, watch what you eat and be physically active. This requires you to be on your weight loss commitment for quiet long. As soon as you start seeing the results, you will be surprised as well as motivated to go beyond your weight loss and adopt and a lifelong healthy attitude. For a start please follow: 1.Watch what you eat – Are you eating too much junk, drink excessive alcohol and eating too much white food and sugar? Please cut it down to as low as you can from tomorrow. Cut down tea/coffee if you are too addicted to it. It is creating havoc inside your body. 2.Lifestyle – Are you a late sleeper and late riser? You can’t imagine what this schedule of yours is doing to your metabolism. It is degrading your digestive system from inside and your looks from outside. 3.Physically active – If you are a couch potato who loves to watch tv whole day then throw that couch of yours in the street and get yourself a treadmill tomorrow. Yes it is as simple as that. Who is stopping you? You have to be physically active all day long if you want to burn those extra calories. Do daily brisk walk, Pranayam, atleast 20 surayanamaskar everyday to start seeing the results. Take break between office work to walk a little or rather just climb some stairs to get that food you ate in lunch have space and heat to digest and absorb. What’s the harm in using your washroom to do a little middle of the day squats. Do that – No one is watching you. The key is to stay physically active all day long, no matter what. 4.Eat healthy and eat on time: Not only eating healthy is important but eating at right time is equally imp too. Have an early breakfast and early dinner and have 4 small meals between breakfast and dinner. To guide you a bit, here you go: A.Breakfast (Between 8-10 a. M) – Have oats/porridge or brown bread with milk and nuts. B.At 11 a. M - Cup of Green Tea c.Mid day meal (around 12 p. M) – Have a bowl of fruits. Citrus fruits are best taken during this hour and absorb well in the body. Have oranges, amla, pineapple etc during this hour. D.Lunch (between 2-3 p. M) – Daal, roti, mix veg, buttermilk and salad. You can also take brown rice with daal in lunch. Try to get your food cooked in olive oil. Lace your salad with apple cider vinegar, black pepper and seeds like flaxseeds or chia seeds to make it nutrition packed lunch. E.Between 4 p. M – 5 p. M – Cup of Green Tea F.Evening (4-6 p. M) – Have some nice sprouts with tomatoes and cucumber. G.Dinner (2 hours before sleeping, preferably before 9 p. M) – Paneer & veggies salad with olive oil, Roti or brown rice with Daal. H.Have a glass of warm milk. Weight loss is 80% about what you eat and 20% about exercises. That said, both the things go hand in hand. If you want to lose weight in a more healthy way than be patient and just follow the regimen everyday. Slow and steady wins the race.

I am 21 now. And I've been smoking since I was 13. But now I've quite smoking. Can I reverse the effects of smoking or decrease them any how? Are physical exercises like yoga or running helpful?

Congratulations on quitting smoking. Yes, you will be ab; le to revert most of the effects of the habit. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chew gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine gums and nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join smokers anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i. E. At least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

I have lot of dandruff in my hair due to this I am facing hair fall problem. I have shaved my hair twice but nothing helped.

dear friend dandruff is the problem which starts @ puberty due to multiplication of sebaceous glands and excessive secretion. this is normal phenomenon which is exacerbated in oil skin persons. shaving the head doesnt provide permanent solution for it, and even all commercial dandruff shampoos are also help less in this regard. as you stated you are severity suffering, i think better to consult personally to look into the severity of the problem.meanwhile have head bath at-least alternate days, once dandruff is controlled hair fall automatically reduces. requirement of anti-fungal anti-dandruff can be advised after personal interview....if you want further clarification reply to this message

I'm having a headache from last 2 days. And I also feel that I'm week. So what I have to do.

You can take(If No drug allergy) : 1. Tablet Crocin (Paracetamol 500 mg) one tablet after food when required for headache after food for 2-3 days (maximum 2 tablets with gap of 12 hour can be taken in a day) you may be having headache because of stress/ refractory problems/ any ENT problem or may be Migraine Headache consult physician/me for further management.

Hi. My father (59 yrs) is having breathing problem since past few years. The problem get worse after he gets up from sleep in the morning and that continues till 10 in the morning. One thing has been noticed is that if he remains awaken whole night then the problem doesn't arise. It arises only when he wakes up in the morning. Please suggest some ways to cure this problem. Also suggest which field of doctor should I consult for curing this.

Please do this for few nights before sleeping and see: strongly dust or hit all pillows before sleeping in nights. The dust accumulated on pillows during day may act as trigger during the hours of sleep in night. Taking warm drink like cow's milk in night is nice if not allergic to milk.

Dear, For Recovering from low BP follow these best methods: • Anaemia is a cause of low BP so check your hemoglobin level (Hb) if this is low so eat green leafy vegetables, beetroot and fruits like pomegranate. • Eat an apple daily it maintain your BP normal. • Take your meal daily do not skip meal. • Drink 8 - 9 glass of water daily. your weight should be around 82 kgs..Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one cup of water..If you use freshly ground black pepper, then just add one-quarter teaspoon...Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach....Do this daily for at least three months...

The ability to see is one of our greatest powers and it needs to be valued and looked after. Sometimes this involves wearing glasses to improve our vision. Spectacles not only help us see better but also prevent straining and further deterioration of the eye muscles. Here are a few signs to watch out for that will indicate your need for spectacles. Keep in mind however that a comprehensive eye exam is the only way to determine the power required for your spectacles. 

-  Blurred vision
Blurred vision or the inability to focus on something in the distance is one of the first signs or eye deterioration. When it comes to children, watch out for complaints of inability to read the writing on class blackboards.

-  Frequent headaches
Unexplained headaches that come and go could be a sign that you need glasses. These headaches can usually be felt at the end of a long day or after watching television. 

-  Constant squinting
Squinting is a natural way to improve vision. This is because the act of squinting reduces extra light and light scattering thus allowing us to see something clearer. Thus, if you notice yourself squinting more than usual it is time to schedule an eye exam.

-  Difficulty working on a computer
Struggling to read figures and words on a computer screen is usually a sign of poor vision. Try adjusting your screen angle and the distance of the screen from your eyes to see if your vision improves or worsens. 

-  Difficulty adjusting to lights
Sudden increased sensitivity to lights can be a sign of many eye disorders with vision problems being the most common. 

-  Eye strain
Occasional pain in the eyes after a long day or as a result of an allergic reaction is nothing to worry about. However, if this pain persists for a few days, it could be an indication that you need spectacles. 
Deterioration of vision is usually a very gradual process and so you may not realize when it begins. However, the earlier you start wearing corrective glasses to improve your vision the easier it will be to control the deterioration of the eye muscles and you may even be able to rectify your condition completely. So, do not ignore any of these warning signs. Even if you do not have any of these symptoms, it is a good idea to get a thorough eye examination at least once a year.
