Take diet in hypothyroidism:- high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread, Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. flax oil, Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, Avoid few foods in hypothroidism i.e. caffeine products tea, coffee, tabcco, alcohol / wine , kale, broccoli, spinach, mustard green, cabbage, turnip, millet, cassava, linseeds, pine nuts, soy products as soy milk, tofu, soybeans, soy souce, also avoid stress. Hello doctor, I am 26 years woman. I went for a TSH test and it is 5.970.is it too dangerous? Will it come to normal by using thyronorm 50 mg tablets which I was given. Also will I loose my weight if my TSH level becomes normal. Please help me out.

BHMS, MD - Alternate Medicine
Homeopath, Nagpur
Hypothyroidism now a days is more an iodine deficiency disease, but it has become an autoimmune disease. In homoeopathy we give the medicine which makes the body generator, an adequate thyroid level, so that gradually body resume it's original functionality which is visible through the thyroid level test time to time, and gradually you can get rid of your altroxin as well, and may be after sometime you can stop homoeopathy medicine as your thyroid level remains normal afterwards. Avoid cabbage, cauliflower, soya in food.

Recently I gone through sugar test it observed fasting 324mg/dl and after meal 438mg/dl. What medicine and diet I have to take?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr M L Swami, The sugar levels mentioned are exceptionally high, need urgent treatment. You can either start with oral anti diabetes drugs or with Insulin injections, plus diet control and regular exercise. It is better if you come in a private communication with details like fasting, Pp and HbA1c% (all present values), dietary pattern and extent of exercise then I will be able to give specific guidance. The matter is really serious, please initiate urgent treatment.

When should I get checked for my thyroid for normal results if I am taken an ipill. After how many days does the hormone level comes back to normal. thanks.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr Zishan, If treatment for hypothyroidism has been started then after 6 weeks one should check TSH levels to see if levels have come to normal or if there is any need to increase the dose of thyroxine being taken. This treatment has to continue for life time. There is no way to stop it .

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine)
Endocrinologist, Delhi

I take medicine for diabetes 500 mg each metphormin morning and evening & 15 mg pioze in morning my diabetic was under control for last five years. Though I take regular walk in morning & five days swimming in evening but now my reading is 125 fasting & after two hours of eating 200 do you want me to increase dose or add another medicine?

Diploma in Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Secunderabad
Hello please follow the doctor prescribed medicine. Which controls the diabetics and will not allow you increase. But along with medication, you need to concentrate on food also. Make sure you food must have high protein, fiber, multivitamin nutrition. For a diabetics, its good to have more protein rather than carbohydrates, which converts into glucose and may have a chance to increase the diabetes. Let me know if I can help you with more information. Have a nice day.

I hav diabetes its in starting stage what care I should do to not to increase that stage to stop diabetes?

MSc
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Chandigarh
In diabetes diet plays a very important role. You need to be very particular about food choices & timings to control blood glucose levels. Even medicines will not work properly unless you are particularly about food choices. I would suggest you to properly follow the do's and don't of diabetes so to control the blood glucose levels.

You are diabetic since 8 years and you are only on metformin total 1500 mg per day. It's time to increase medication. I advice you should do hba1c test to look for your last three months average. And increase 500 mg metformin post dinner and add 50 mg sitagliptin (januvia/zita) bbf so that will take care of post prandial high sugars.
