Hello all Just wanted to know I have a friend 28 years who has 2 babies 4 years & 2 months old both are born by cesarian. Can you please let me know she is planning to have a child again till how many months she needs to wait (last baby boy she had in feb )?also please let us know how many babies she can have without any complications or any worries or any discharge if it happens .(normal or cesarian) as she is planning to have 4 childrens. Thank you in advance.

Hello all
Just wanted to know I have a friend 28 years who has 2 babies 4 years & 2 months old both are born by cesar...
It's her individual choice but I don't feel there is any logic in having 4 kids in current scenario where inflation is increasing and country is having problematic population growth chart which compromises the quality of life we can provide to our future generation. Coming to your question atleast 2-3 years gap is needed in between two children and if there is history of two ceaserian section, it becomes increasingly complicated further number of deliveries. On a lighter note, she can fulfill her wish to have 4 kids by adopting further 2 kids, to stay in good health by avoiding further deliveries and doing social service.

10 Reasons for Toothache

10 Reasons for Toothache

Toothache is a painful dental condition that affects many people worldwide. At times the excruciating pain can drive a normal person insane. Cavity and tooth decay contribute to toothache in a big way. However, toothache can also be an indication of some serious dental ailments that needs immediate attention. The following factors/reasons can equally contribute to toothache (mild or severe).

  1. Tooth decay: Tooth decay and cavities are synonymous to unhealthy teeth and toothache. Cavities can also give rise to awkward complications like bad breath. Thus, proper dental care and hygiene is of topmost priority. It is highly recommended to brush the teeth three times daily.
  2. Accidental falls: Accidents incurred during sports or games often go unnoticed and untreated. This can invite unwanted complications like broken teeth, infections or inflammations resulting in toothache.
  3. Unhealthy gums: Bleeding, painful and swollen gums and many other gum ailments can severely affect the teeth. At an advanced stage, this can lead to unbearable toothache.
  4. Bruxism: Many people knowingly or unknowingly indulge in Bruxism or tooth grinding. Bruxism can have serious dental implications. It exerts tremendous pressure on the teeth and the supporting tissues. Eventually the jaw muscles also get affected, with toothache being the inevitable consequence.
  5. Decaying enamel: Healthy enamel implies healthy teeth. Factors like excessive intake of sweets, drinks and chocolates play a significant role in enamel decay.  This can have a detrimental effect on the teeth resulting in toothache.
  6. Abscess, a serious dental ailment:  Abscess is the manifestation of dental infections, whereby pus formation takes place between the gum and a tooth. Pus formation can also take place at the base of a tooth resulting in toothache.
  7. Cracked tooth syndrome: A fractured tooth often acts as a catalyst, leading to toothache. The crack on the tooth is so small that even an x-ray fails to reveal it. Factors like bruxism, tooth decay, to name a few; contribute to the Cracked Tooth Syndrome.
  8. The wisdom mystery: Lucky are those whose wisdom teeth erupt completely, at a single go. Impacted wisdom teeth can give a person sleepless nights. Misaligned teeth are no better.
  9. Toothache and periodontal complications: It is a serious condition leading to shooting pain and inflammation. The inflammation and pain affects the root of the tooth immensely. It usually results from infections in plaque formations.
  10. Sinus infections: In many cases, it has been found that sinus infection can lead to toothache. Positioned close to the upper back teeth, the sinuses give rise to what is known as a dull ache.

Toothache can be an amalgamation of many factors. Thus, it is very important to go for periodical dental & full body check ups.

My baby is having frequent cough and cold she is 2 and half month old. What to do? Please advise.
Please be more detailed in descrbing symptoms like when the cough is more (night or day) any phlegm while coughing and if there is fever. In pediatrics weight is must for prescribing drug dosage. However if there is no fever, it can be allergic cough and you try levocet-m syrup 2.5 ml once a day and tell me, personally.

It depends on which class and strength shes been prescribed and fr which condition. Common antibiotics targetting general infections donot pose significant harm. What you can do to be safest is: 1) Take Capsule Becosule once daily. 2) Drink plenty of water. So that antibiotic does not overstay in your body .its excreted as soon as its done with its work. All the best.

MIx 1 spoon Isabgol Husk with 2 spoon fresh curd and feed twice in a day, till the stool become normal. Will ease in 1 or 2 dose. Also give electrolyte inbetween to recover water loss in loose stools. Take care, if you are offering Kadhi to the child, add curry leaves, methi and ajwain in it while cooking.

My six years old son has been passing stool in clothes in day as well as in night. We have consulted more than doctors but no result. Please tell us the possible cause of this?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
It is called encopresis and usually due to psychological problem. Find out any stress inducing events in the family or school. It will resolve slowly. Get an mri spine to rule out a neurological problem which sometimes may cause that.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
See paediatric surgeon, he will guide you and answer all your questions. You need to know for sure, if it is retracted or descended testis. In any case nothing to worry as both are treatable entities. Hope this helps.

My daughter is 2 and half months now. She is. Passing stools from last two weeks in a watery way. And it happens as soon as I feed her. Coming along with a fart. She is only on breast feeding. She s not sleeping in the day time after this. Am not eating anything from outside. Only diet from home. Kindly guide.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
Breastfed babies usually will not develop diarrhoea. It may be breastfeeding stools due to exaggerated gastrocolic reflex if the baby is active tongue is moist & pass it adequate urine, not to worry about it. Reduce the consumption of excessive tomatoes. Give rota virus vaccine.

There are number of factors to decide if any loose motion require treatment or just to change dietary habit. Nature, quantity and number of loose motion in a day are few to decide any intervention.

My son is 9 years old. He has a bed wetting problem almost since birth. Otherwise he is fit and healthy. Recently we did the urine culture test but it is negative. We also did sonography and mcu test and both test reports are normal. What shall we do?

Pediatrician, Pune
Don't make him feel bad about his passage of urine, he can strengthen his urinary sphincter by trying to control his urine during day time, avoid drinking of water after 7 pm, make him pass urine before going to bed, reward him for his dry nights.
