Firstly there's no lifelong cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are only effective against infections of throat and are of no use against cold viruses. Over-the-counter (otc) cold preparations won't cure a common cold or make it go away any sooner, and most have side effects. A saltwater gargle 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2tsp turmeric dissolved in a glass of warm water can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat. To help relieve nasal congestion, try saline (pure salt water) nasal drops. If you have a throat infection, or a viral cold then I will prescribe appropriate meds based on your detailed assessment. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Hello, The food what and how you eat, makes the difference! For increasing your weight, concentrate on the below points ( if you don’t have any medical condition) which helps in gaining weight in a right way without harming your body. - Consume more healthy fats. Foods containing healthy fats are full of nutrients and also high in calories, making them a great option for weight gain. Foods containing plant fats should be your first option - this includes items such as nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados and olive oil. Foods containing healthy animals fats include lean meats and full fat dairy products - although if you have high cholesterol, you should probably stick to low-fat options. -Eat more protein. Good sources of protein include lean meat, fish and poultry, in addition to eggs, whole grains, dairy products and legumes. -Drink more calories. Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full-cream milk throughout the day.Protein shakes will help you to gain muscle mass, particularly if you're working out. -Have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. -Gain muscle mass. It's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Strength training includes working with weights and performing exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, crunches, chin-ups and leg curls. Just keep in mind that the more you exercise, the more calories you will need to consume to replace those you lost while working out. This is where protein shakes and bars really come in handy. -Quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. -Stay healthy. The most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy - eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. -Take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. -Think Positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos., both thrice daily ½ an hour before meals for 1month.

Hi though your diabetes report fine, you have to take precaution in sugar intake as it runs in your family. For cholesterol stop fried intake, you can switch over to rice bran or olive oil. Eat more steamed or roasted form of nonveg if you eat non veg. Avoid egg yellow. Have only egg whites walk daily

If u have not started anything, u can start with rice water. Start with once in a day n slowly increase quantity and frequency. Aftr about 15days, u can start moong dal water. Next veg soup. Next mashed fruits like steamed apple/papaya/chikoo/small bananas. Next moong dal-rice khichdi. Before introducing new item, keep gap of atleast 10-15days. Start with small quantity once a day n den increase slowly d quantity n frequency.

Do physiotherapy. Also take rhus tox 200 - twice daily for 2-3 weeks. As this is a progressing disease and will take time to heal - you need to keep patience.

Side effects are more common with a higher dose and longer treatment. Side effects are much more common with oral drugs. Some side effects are more serious than others. Common side effects of oral steroids include: acne blurred vision cataracts or glaucoma easy bruising difficulty sleeping high blood pressure increased appetite, weight gain increased growth of body hair insomnia lower resistance to infection muscle weakness nervousness, restlessness osteoporosis stomach irritation or bleeding sudden mood swings swollen, puffy face water retention, swelling worsening of diabetes.

Please note the followings in respect to your queries: Banana and Milk -- Bananas are full of calories and contain high amount of carbohydrates and potassium that give you instant energy. Whosoever want to gain weight must eat a banana daily in the morning with a glass of warm milk. Add a teaspoon of sugar in it. Moreover, you can also have it after your meals. Note – Don’t eat bananas when you are down with common cold. If you have any medical disease that needs to be treated. Find a great personal trainer and yoga instructor to keep you consistent. Take Five phos - 4 tablets twice daily.

Summary Sex : - Male Date of Birth : - 20/10/2010 Current Age : - 4 Year, 3 months Weight at the time of birth : - 3300 kms. Present weight- : - 18 Kg Delivery Mode : - LSCS Blood Group : - O (+ve) Patient is suffering from enlarged adenoids as well as acute nose block problem during slip due to allergy, his nose always remain discharged (thick and thin liquid may vary from time to time) Regarding his health issues we have discussed many doctors, but doctors are telling that he had allergic problem or Low immune system to resist Dust, Cold & smoke mainly. As he comes touch with cold, smoke and dust, his nose begin discharged, split coming out of the mouth during sleeping, facing acute problem in breathing then fever and cough had difficulties to him, If any medical treatment not given to him within 2-3 days, then his position becomes critical. We had given him an antibiotic and anti allergic tablets as advised by doctors, but from three years nine months, he is suffering same problem and doctors are telling as he will grow up, his immunity will improve as a result day by day his problem will cure. We have discussed with many Child specialists and ENT who told us to avoid surgery for adenoids because enlarged adenoids will cure by self with the time now main problem of nose block during slip is to be cured, because breathing from mouth may also cause of throat infection. When he go out then he has to face dust, smoke and pollution everything that all was beyond our control. So what to do, I am very worried about his health issues. So, we hope your Excellency will look into this matter and suggest as deemed fit for a child health and future. Lake of concentration is the big problem of my life. It is mainly while the studying time. I find myself lost in somewhere else during my study time mainly with my friends. I talk a lot with them in imagination and suddenly I realise that I am wasting my time again I try to start my study with full concentration only hardy 5 to 10 minutes and again my mind use to go somewhere else. Due to this things I have lost my learning power and I have lost my confidence that I can do something in my carrier. I am really very stressed and tensed due to this problem. Please help me to emancipate from this problem.

This is a sign of stress and your mind will wander frequently because of this. Meet with a counselor and sort out that stress. In the meantime do some of these recommendations very faithfully: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem-solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning, at least, five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position, you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There is some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food. You may also include these noted foods that are good for your brain health: Brain-Friendly Foods MIND stands for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. But the MIND approach “specifically includes foods and nutrients that medical literature and data show to be good for the brain, such as berries,” says Martha Clare Morris, ScD, director of nutrition and nutritional epidemiology at Rush University Medical Center. You eat things from these 10 food groups: •Green leafy vegetables (like spinach and salad greens): At least six servings a week •Other vegetables: At least one a day •Nuts: Five servings a week •Berries: Two or more servings a week •Beans: At least three servings a week •Whole grains: Three or more servings a day •Fish: Once a week •Poultry (like chicken or turkey): Two times a week •Olive oil: Use it as your main cooking oil. •Wine: One glass a day You avoid: •Red meat: Less than four servings a week •Butter and margarine: Less than a tablespoon daily •Cheese: Less than one serving a week •Pastries and sweets: Less than five servings a week •Fried or fast food: Less than one serving a week.

Fortunately, overcoming your procrastination is easy to do when you put your mind to it. Here are few ways that can help you: 1 Remind yourself that there’s always more to be done than can be done. Then ask yourself if you’re getting the right things done. 2 Make a smart to-do list by including only the items that you’re avoiding, not the ones you know you’ll do anyway. Then set deadlines. 3 Break the task down to lessen the sense of being overwhelmed. Once you start to enjoy a small accomplishment or two, you’re more likely to finish. 4 Eliminate temptation to do something else (if your Siren song is the computer, see" Tuning out digital distractions" below). 5 Bargain with yourself. If you finish the business plan now, you can go to the movies later. 6 Focus on the success you will achieve and the joy you will feel. 7 Come up with a consequence that will deter you from avoiding the task. If you don’t exercise two times a week, you have to give up talking on the phone with your friends. 8 Ask someone to help you complete the task. 9 Make your intentions public. This will add pressure, but for some of us, avoiding embarrassment is the mightiest motivator.

My mother is suffering from varicose vein problem from the past few years and had done treatment in Ayurveda as well as in homeopathy, which results in recovery for a short period of time and later again back to the same stage. In her legs the veins are a little bulged and will get swollen with intense pain which finally results in a wound from which a watery kind of pus is coming. The wound is very difficult to cure which takes too many days with severe pain. It is affected on the small veins and tissues. So I request you to suggest the treatment for this type of varicose problem or from where we will get the treatment for this. Awaiting for your soon reply.

Hello, It is unfortunate that you have not had good results in treatment of your mothers varicose veins. The latest treatment is endovenous laser ablation, which is now accepted as gold standard. In any case doppler examination of the veins is a must before varicose veins can be diagnosed. If you have please gat back to me with the results and we can have a consultation.

Hello Arun, If you are expecting pregnancy, you can perform a blood test for Serum HCG to be sure if she is pregnant or no. But the chances are slim since the urine pregnancy test is negative. You can expect normal periods for her.
