Hi, If you are taking Femilon regularly without fail, and if you are not at a risk of sexually transmitted diseases, you can have unprotected intercourse on any day without having to worry about unwanted pregnancy.

Hi, The reason you underwent cerclage was to prevent preterm delivery. It's advisable not to travel, not to lift weights, abstain from sex, and take complete bed rest till 37 completed weeks of pregnancy.

Hello, I have 4 months baby boy. He is insufficient of milk. What should I do to increase my milk? I am using lactonic granules. Somehow it's helping me but not completely.

MBBS, DGO, FCPS

Hi, Take C.Lactare 2 capsules thrice daily, along with Lactonic granules 2tsp thrice daily. Try T.Perinorm 2 tablets thrice daily for a week. Drink 4-5 litres of fluids daily including milk. Eat healthy. Feed the baby frequently, every 2 hours or so. Try to relax and take rest whenever possible. Do not wear tight bra.

I am now 26 weeks pregnant. I don't feel baby movements daily. Sometimes I do feel. Is it normal. Is there any test to determine if baby's mental and physical development is normal?

Hi, It's normal for first timers to be anxious about baby movements, and its sometimes difficult to appreciate till 28 weeks sometimes. To appreciate the baby movements better, after meals lie down in left lateral position (left side), in an undisturbed room, keep your palm on your abdomen, and concentrate for about 1 hour. This way you can keep track of baby movements thrice daily after every meal, movements should be more than three in 1 hour. Do not get worried if the baby doesn't move every now and then.

The tablets you have been prescribed are to support the pregnancy, not to abort it. If you want to terminate the pregnancy, get an ultrasound done to confirm the pregnancy and its duration, then consult a gynecologist for termination. If your pregnancy is less than 7 weeks, you may opt for pregnancy termination pills.

TORCH IgG values in positive range indicate past infection. If IgM values are negative, there is no current infection, and does not require any treatment. There could be several other reasons for not getting pregnant. To check for fallopian tube patency, get Hysterosalpingography done on Day 9 of menses. Fallopian tube blockage needs to be treated by surgery, laparoscopic preferably.

Alternating chills and hot episodes are common during pregnancy with no adverse effects on baby. Don't worry, all is well. Do an NT scan at 11-13 weeks.

I had unprotected sex with my wife about an hour ago. I do not want a baby as we got married just 10 days back. Her periods are scheduled to arrive after 6 or 7 days from today. Can you please answer my worries - What are the chances of her getting pregnant? - Is there any side effect of the emergency contraceptive pills? Your quick turnaround is highly appreciated and I will be thankful.

If your wife's periods are due in 6-7 days, chances of her getting pregnant are very less. Emergency contraception is an option to avoid accidental conception, but its not 100% guaranteed, moreover, the chances of menstrual abnormalities increase following emergency pills. So choose wisely. Don't make emergency pills a habit. Use a regular method of contraception to avoid accidents like this.

Hi my delivery done on 8 November by c-section. Today on 16 December little bleeding started and feeling back pain. Is periods started? Is anything to worry. Please reply soon.

If you did not have bleeding after Caesarean for about a month, then started bleeding, its possibly menses. If breastfeeding properly, especially during night, menses are delayed.

If you happen to have sex on regular basis and don't want the risk of even accidental pregnancy, condoms are not reliable mode of contraception. I- pill is an emergency contraceptive and must be used judiciously. Its better to resort to more efficient modes of contraception like OCPills (if you want to delay 1st pregnancy, or intrauterine contraceptive devices like multiload or Copper T (if you want spacing between two pregnancies. Hormonal injections like DMPA and implants are other equally reliable options. As far as torn condom is concerned, chances of pregnancy depend on the fertile period. If your wife is in fertile period you may opt for I-Pill, but don't make it a habit as I-pill can hv serious side effects.
