The colour, the height or the facial features, everything is decided the moment pregnancy is set up as all these are dependent on parents genes. So relax and think and pray for a normal and healthy baby. Babies are gift of god and they are all beautiful. Enjoy this wonderful journey.

Before ovulation occurs, the average diameter of the dominant follicle is 22 to 24 mm (range 18-36 mm. Hello, I understand your health concerns. It takes 24-36 hours for follicle to rupture after HCG injection but in case your internal hormones function well then it might get ruptures early as evident by your history. Egg is viable for about 24 hours after ejaculation. After considering all these facts there are moderate chances of pregnancy in your case. All we can do is to wait till 16 days post HCG injection. It is the only marker that can predict ovulation with ease. * In stimulated cycle (hormonal treatment), generally, all or most of the antral follicles grow. The growth rate will be different for each of the You can do IUI as many times as our financial and health condition allows.

Even the presence of faint line is positive and you need to read the result within 5 minutes. Menses can be missed either because of hormonal changes or even stress or even if you have put on some weight in recent times then also menses can be missed. All these problems are temporary and menses will come on its own. You can wait for another 15 days before you can take tablet deviry to get menses. In the meantime, keep repeating urine pregnancy test every week till you get your menses.

Cushing's Syndrome - Causes and Symptoms

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

Cushing's Syndrome - Causes and Symptoms

Cushing’s syndrome occurs due to abnormally high levels of the hormone cortisol. This can happen for a variety of reasons. The most common cause is overuse of corticosteroid medications.

Causes:

Your adrenal glands produce cortisol. It helps with a number of your body’s functions, including:

  1. regulating blood pressure and the cardiovascular system

  2. reducing the immune system’s inflammatory response

  3. converting carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy

  4. balancing the effects of insulin

  5. responding to stress

Your body may produce high levels of cortisol for a variety of reasons, including:

  1. high stress levels, including stress related to an acute illness, surgery, injury, or pregnancy, especially in the final trimester

  2. athletic training

  3. malnutrition

  4. alcoholism

  5. depression, panic disorders, or high levels of emotional stress

The most common cause of Cushing’s syndrome is the use of corticosteroid medications, such as prednisone, in high doses for a long period. High doses of injectable steroids for treatment of back pain can also cause this syndrome.

Other causes include:

  1. a pituitary gland tumor in which the pituitary gland releases too much adrenocorticotropic hormone, which is also known as Cushing’s disease

  2. ectopic ACTH syndrome, which causes tumors that usually occur in the lung, pancreas, thyroid, or thymus gland

  3. an adrenal gland abnormality or tumor

Symptoms of Cushing’s Syndrome:

The most common symptoms of this condition are:

  • weight gain
  • obesity
  • fatty deposits, especially in the midsection, the face and between the shoulders and the upper back (causing a buffalo hump)
  • purple stretch marks on the breasts, arms, abdomen, and thighs
  • thinning skin that bruises easily
  • skin injuries that are slow to heal
  • acne
  • fatigue
  • muscle weakness
  • increased thirst
  • increased urination
  • bone loss
  • depression
  • an increased incidence of infections

Women may also notice extra facial and body hair, as well as absent or irregular menstruation.

Men may also have:

  • erectile dysfunction
  • a loss of sexual interest
  • decreased fertility

Children with this condition are generally obese and have a slower rate of growth. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

kidney stone

bachelor of science, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

kidney stone
According to ayurveda improper diet and lifestyle leads to aggravation of all three doshas (ayurvedic humors) and impairment of the digestive fire, causing formation of toxins (ama) in the body. These toxins travel down the channels carring urine, where aggravated doshas combine with it, causing its crystallization and leading to the formation of kidney stone.

Ayurvedic treatment of kidney stones involves the use of diuretic and stone-dissolving herbs in acute cases the system is then cleaned and strengthened using toning and rejuvenating preparations.

Hello, This is probably due to vaginismus. You need to lubricate it well before insertion and also practice more foreplay to relieve initial anxiety which can often cause vaginal muscles to be tensed.

Obesity reduces life expectancy

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Obesity reduces life expectancy
Obesity in adulthood is associated with a striking reduction in life expectancy for both men and women. Among 3457 subjects in the Framingham Study, done in the United States, those who were obese (Body Mass Index or BMI ≥30 kg/m2 at age 40 years lived 6 to 7 years less than those who were not (BMI ≤24.9 kg/m2). Those who were overweight (BMI 25 to 29.9 km/m2) at age 40 years lived about 3 years less, and those who were both obese and smoked lived 13 to 14 years less than normal–weight nonsmokers. The steady rise in life expectancy during the past two centuries may come to an end because of the increasing prevalence of obesity. Being overweight during adolescence also increase the risk of premature death as an adult. The analysis of Nurses’ Health Study has shown the risk of premature death increases with higher BMIs at age 18 years. For a BMI at age 18 of 18.5 to 21.9, 22 to 24.9, 25 to 29.9, and ≥30 kg/m2, the hazard ratio for premature death were 0.98, 1.18, 1.66, and 2.79, respectively.

A prospective study from the United States, at National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, valuated the relationship between BMI and risk of death over a maximum follow–up period of 10 years among over 500,000 men and women aged 50 to 71 years. Among the subset of individuals 50 years of age (when prevalence of chronic disease is low) who had never smoked, an increased risk of death was associated with being either overweight (20 to 50 percent increase in those between 26.5 to 29.9 kg/m2) or obese (two– to over threefold increase in those ≥30 kg/m2).

Overweight and obesity, when analyzed together, is associated with increased mortality from diabetes and kidney disease. Obesity, when analyzed alone, is associated with increased cardiac mortality and cancers considered to be obesity–related (colon, breast, esophageal, uterine, ovarian, kidney, and pancreatic cancer), but not with mortality from other cancers or non–cardiac mortality.

There are some recent studies which showed that obese people live longer. Overweight was shown to be associated with reduced mortality from non cancer, non–cardiovascular causes, but not with cancer or cardiovascular mortality. In them being underweight was associated with increased mortality from non cancer and non–cardiac causes, but not cancer and cardiac CVD causes. Obesity and increased central fat are associated with increased morbidity in addition to mortality. Overweight and obese individuals have a higher relative risk of hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and diabetes mellitus compared with normal weight individuals. The risk of hypertension and diabetes increases with increasing BMI.

In the Nurses’ Health and the Health Professionals studies, the risk of developing a chronic disease (gallstones, hypertension, heart disease, colon cancer and stroke (in men only)) increased with increasing BMI, even in those in the upper half of the healthy weight range (BMI 22.0 to 24.9 kg/m2). Obesity is measured by using a measurement called BMI, which is calculated by dividing a person’s weight in kilograms by the square of their height in meters.

A BMI of 18.5 to 23 is considered normal (Asians). One below 18.5 is considered underweight and 25 or above is considered obese.
