I am suffering from chronic constipation with hypertension and parkinson's. What is cure. Am 64 years old.
Please note that you need to consult and take treatment properly for your chronic problems. For constipation please use the below: Baking soda lies at the heart of home remedies. It’s is so incredibly versatile, and it pretty much does its job 95% of the time. It works incredibly well for constipation (and tummy aches in general) because it is a bicarbonate, which will encourage air to come out of you one way or another, and relieve pain from pressure. It also re-alkalizes the stomach, neutralizing the acid a little bit and helping things pass through your gut. You will need… -1 teaspoon baking soda -1/4 cup warm water Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with ¼ cup of warm water. Drink all of the mixture-the quicker you finish it, the better it seems to work. Rest of the problems get back to me...

Dear Lybrateuser, - Good to know that you have left smoking as it will help reverse any damage it has caused to your body over a period of time - take a well balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables especially green leafy ones, protein foods, healthy fats, whole grains - do regular exercise, brisk walking, jogging, swimming for 20-30 min, also do yoga & deep breathing for 10-15 min daily morning for good supply of oxygen & blood circulation in the body - take a tablet of Paracetamol if pain is more - get an x- ray chest & ECG done to rule out any other problem, consult a doctor if not much relief.

Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that occurs naturally in all parts of the body. Your body needs some cholesterol to work properly. But if you have too much in your blood, it can combine with other substances in the blood and stick to the walls of your arteries. This is called plaque. Plaque can narrow your arteries or even block them. High levels of cholesterol in the blood can increase your risk of heart disease. Your cholesterol levels tend to rise as you get older. There are usually no signs or symptoms that you have high blood cholesterol, but it can be detected with a blood test. You are likely to have high cholesterol if members of your family have it, if you are overweight or if you eat a lot of fatty foods. You can lower your cholesterol by exercising more and eating more fruits and vegetables. You also may need to take medicine to lower your cholesterol. High LDL high cholesterol put you on a higher risk of atherosclerotic diseases and heart attacks especially if you have other is factors including hypertension diabetes or a history of smoking so I would advise you to continue / start taking statins which are cholesterol medications the dose of which depends upon your cholesterol levels also you need to start changing your dietary habits and include a regular physical exercise at least 45 minutes a day 5 days a week into your schedule nonetheless you have to stop taking fatty and junk food good luck

You have to take your father to a heart hospital to get basic tests done to know the status of ' heart attack' without test report , it is difficult to tell you on forum whether it was a heart attack or not. you write back with reports of ECG, ECHO,Lipid profile and blood sugar.

Dear lybrate-user, you are dependent on alcohol. Alcohol is a ready made sugar/glucose, fully digested. It will difficult for you to control your blood sugar level if you continue drinking. Cholesterol is produced in the body by liver. Probably your liver is damaged causing cholesterol problems. High creatinine level shows your kidneys are under protest. They may give up if you don't get treated. It is better for you to give up alcohol completely. It can not be done by yourself at home. It will have withdrawal symptoms which needs treatment in a hospital for at least 10-14 days. During detoxification itself your sugar, cholesterol and kidneys can be repaired with appropriate drips and tablets. You are still young. I think your children may be still dependent on you. Probably your parents may not be able to support. So there is an urgent need for you give up alcohol in a hospital and get treated for other medical problems. All the best.

Hypertension and Diabetes - How They are Related?

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine)
General Physician, Delhi
Hypertension and Diabetes - How They are Related?

Hypertension or High Blood Pressure can trigger as well as worsen complications related to diabetes. Most people suffering from diabetes tend to develop hypertension later in their lives. Diabetes tends to increase one’s blood pressure, making him/her even more vulnerable to other heart diseases and cardio-vascular disorders. Diabetes often leads to a condition known as atherosclerosis, which is the hardening of the arteries. A combination of diabetes and hypertension drastically increases the risk of suffering from a heart disease. The risks of kidney diseases and retinopathy (damage to the tiny blood vessels present in the retina) also go up, resulting in blindness. With age, chronic hypertension can also result in numerous cognitive disorders such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease (degenerative mental disorder).

How to prevent Diabetes and Hypertension?
1. Walking for about 40 minutes each day or engaging in any type of aerobic exercise can better one’s heart health. Chalk out an exercise plan upon consulting the doctor
2. Limit drinking and abstain from smoking
3. Go for regular kidney check-ups
4. Eat food rich in fiber such as vegetables, fruits, breads or whole grain cereals
5. Examine blood pressure as well as blood sugar levels regularly at home
6. Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga to cut down on stress level; as stress is one of the major contributors to diabetes and the subsequent hypertension
7. Shed off your extra pounds as blood pressure escalates with weight

Pulse rate & blood pressure are independent. If the pulse increase, it does not mean that your blood pressure increased. Blood pressure is the pressure of blood on vessels wall & pulse is the number of times the heart beats.

I am suffering from chest pain usually from left side of my chest. When I breath in I feel relaxed and when I breath ...
Chest pain whether, right or left sided, especially when it is associated with chest or arm movement and when it is increased with breathing is rarely due to heart disease. The chest heaviness which makes you breathless is due to heart but the chest pain that builds on due to breathing is due lungs. Being breathless is like being suffocated but it doesn't pain on breathing. The description that you are providing point towards lung pathology and hence it is advisable to first get a chest x ray done. It could be a minor infection of the lung or something serious. But either ways, you need to know more by a x ray.
