I have a gum reducing problem. Till I noticed it. It was late. Now the condition is. I hav a whole on the right side of my gum above molar teeth. My front gums are down badly. My dentist came up with a conclusion that it was because of wrong way of brushing. I followed the way they showed me. Of strokes. Up and down. But that doesn't seem to stop the problem. Kindly advice is something over it. And also it is possible to regrow the gums?

Hello lybrate-user, thank you for asking your question. From the info that you have provided, we can assume that you are have what is called'recession' of your gums. Recession is simple words is'moving backwards' this can happen due to a few reasons. 1. As your previous dentist suggested, it could be due to wrong brushing techniques. You need to use a soft tooth brush and brush your teeth gently. 2. It could be because of some trauma to that area. 3. It could be genetic. Meaning it runs in the family. 4. Another reason could be poor oral hygiene. For this you will need to pay more attention to carefully brushing your teeth. So, the treatment usually depends on the cause. As we have not evaluated or seen your teeth and gums, we can only provide some treatment options. 1. A good cleaning of your teeth especially of those affected areas. It is called subgingival scaling and root planning. It will help to start the healing by removing all the harmful bacteria present that could be causing the recession or'moving' of your gums. You can observe for 3 to 4 weeks while maintaining excellent oral hygiene. You may see that the gums are slowly moving back to its normal position. 2. If its not healed or some areas are not healing you can also think of getting a flap or gum surgery done. The dentist will use this method to cover the exposed part of your teeth. This procedure depends on the amount of bone present underneath. If it's less, you will need a bone graft which has to been done by a skilled dentist. And depends on your general health. Use a soft brush and use a mouth wash. We hope you find this information useful and you get better soon. Regards.

Cause of discoloration ? Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent toothpaste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need re-root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection.

Dear Lybrate user, no treatment can change the natural tooth color but you can maintain healthy white teeth by brushing twice daily, visiting your dentist at least twice a year and staying away from tobacco, excess black coffee, red wine and other such products which easily stain the teeth. You can get a professional cleaning/scaling done to get rid of the stains on your teeth near gum area. There are certain options available to whiten the teeth like bleaching, lase whitening, zoom whitening etc. The results however are temporary and also depend on your dietary and lifestyle habits. The results usually go away after 6-12 months. Visit your local dentist and choose the best suitable option for yourself.

There are a few conditions like this with whitish and yellowish which occur right from birth or childhood. It could be flurosis which is because of the water having high fluoride level. If iit is a genetic condition in which case it will be seen right from birth or early childhood. Other members in your family might also have this. In these cases you can try some procedures to change your teeth color by going to a dentist. It will not go with brushing. If you have other problems like cavities or weak teeth because of this condition then some treatment can be done for that too. If this has occurred later in life and not from birth then it could just be very poor oral hygiene maintenance and a lot of food particles could become hard and white over a long period of time. This could give a white or yellow appearance. For this also you need to visit a dentist and clean your teeth.

Hi, is there any method to cover the space between from teeth. If yes what it is called.

Dentist, Gurgaon
Hi, is there any method to cover the space between from teeth. If yes what it is called.
Hi lybrate-user, yes, there are two types of techniques by which this space closure can be achieved. One is the cosmetic treatment done for minor spacing in which some tooth colored fillings, laminates or veneers hides this space. Other one is orthodontic treatment for larger spaces, in which braces or wires or elastics are used to orient the teeth in correct position. I suggest you to visit a good cosmetic dentist and take the opinion about the treatment after proper diagnosis of your condition.

I am a 32 years old male and have teeth pain for last 4 months. What should I do?
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need root canal treatment. Until then apply clove oil on the decayed tooth. Rinse frequently with mouth wash. Advise c. Amox 500mg 1-1-1, thrice daily, t. Metrogyl 400mg 1-1-1, thrice daily, t. Imol 1-1-1, thrice daily (contraindicated in conditions with gastric ulcer, asthma, wheezing, allergy), c. Becosules 1-0-0 once daily all for 3 days only. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

I'm 50 years old I am suffering from mouth ulcer problem. what should i do? please advice

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
there are so many causes of mouth ulcers like- -Stress or tissue injury is thought to be the cause of simple mouth ulcers. -Certain foods, including citrus or acidic fruits and vegetables (such as lemons, oranges, pineapples, apples, figs, tomatoes and strawberries), can trigger a mouth ulcer. -Sometimes a sharp tooth surface also trigger mouth ulcers. -Some cases of complex mouth ulcers are caused by an underlying health condition, such as an impaired immune system; nutritional problems, such as vitamin B-12, zinc, folic acid, or iron deficiency and gastrointestinal tract disease, such as Coeliac disease and Crohn's disease. -When you first quit smoking, you may develop more mouth ulcers than normal, but this is temporary. Usually ulcer heals by itself only within 1 week. You can take 'Becosule capsule' once in a day for 1 week for faster recovery. Temporarily you can apply mucopain gel over ulcer for relief..

I have crowded teeth. Is there any possibility to make my teeth in order other than braces method?
There is some thing called as invisiliners. The results and outcome may not be as great as you can achive with traditional braces. Other option which is is with veneers and crowns, crowiding can be rectified but again there as many factors that has to be taken in consideration like degree of crowding etc. Visit your dentist so that he can help you out.
