Dear lybrate user. Welcome to lybrate. I can understand. Loosing someone near and dear is called grief and depression related to grief is pretty normal. But this sort of depression does not stay for long. This depression gets cleared within a span of some weeks. The best option for you is to undergo counseling and depression related therapy. Take care.

My mother had SDH - Craniotomy operation 1.5 month ago. Now she cant speak still she try to speak but cant speak clear to understand sometime she speaks 1-2 word clearly. What should do?

You could consult a speech therapist or make her read things like we use to do when we were kids. One alphabet at a time, then very small words, then small words and progress gradually. Don't stop talking to her as this will motivate her to speak. Thank you.

Sometimes if parents have not looked into what the child wants to buy instead they have brought stuff of their choice or deprived the child of such pleasures or been overly indulgent and never taught him that he can not pick up stuff that does not belong to him. Children tend to learn to steal. 1. This habit needs to be understood first and then look at possible solutions by calling the family for family therapy and giving space to all members of the family an unbiased and confidential environment to talk about their needs which were not met including expectations from each other. This exercise can build back the burnt bridges and get a chance to communicate without fear of implications. 2. F the parents have been very strict in their parenting style, then they need to update their beliefs about parenting and develop a new strategy which brings them emotionally closer to their child rather than create distance and differences. 3. Since your cousin is a teen, they need a different kind of parental attention. His parents could also explore any outdated myths and beloefs that they hold about teens. 4. Your cousin needs to realise and acknowledge his boundaries and know that such acts have legal and social implications which might land him in legal trouble and social ostracization. What is his need to get that kind of attention? 5. He could benefit from some rehabilitative and counselling process to help him give direction and meaning to his life. He might find answers to some questions which could be troubling him. How does he make place for himself in this world and what should he do to be a part of his gang of friends or who should he befriend? he might also need some psychiatric treatment if the counsellor feels that will help your cousin.

I am 65, male suffering from too much of anxiety. The other day when I went to board a train to go to Guruvayur, someone stopped me and started enquiring about my journey, claiming to be policemen. They let me off, when my wife, who was coming far back, came and questioned as to what is going on. The duo said that there were bad elements, out to deceive passengers of their belongings and so they called me to warn me to be careful. After this I am afraid to going to the station to board any train. This kind of fear occurs often and I keep imagining about some bad situation, blow it out of proportion and make not only myself miserable but others around me. Several times I have been confronted by people in railway station, bus stand, etc. Like this and duped of money and valuable and this has left a deep impression leading to awful anxiety. How to overcome this?

Dear, these type of problem and negative thoughts are due to obsessive thoughts. Obsessive thoughts are common for everyone. But for everyone, these thoughts happen for a certain amount of time, say 24 hours. Then, they recover mainly because they get themselves busy in some other areas of their life. That is what you have to do. Get yourself engaged in some other areas of life. Take care.

There is s possibility that you are having learning disabilty (dyslexia) with limitations in working memory. Check whether you are attentive to whatever you do, or preoccupied with some other thought whenever you are doing any activity. If this is the problem then improve your attention by overcoming the preoccupation using" here and now" method consistently. If you feel that you have to improve you memory there are a number of techniques such as cue control, sequential prioritizing etc. If you feel that you are anxious stressed or sleep deprived which leads to forgetting consult a clinical psychologist at the earliest edit answer.
