Cancer indicates the growth of certain unusual cells, generally uncontrolled in nature, in any part of your body. It may also refer to a malignant tumor and it can affect any organ or any part of your body. There are many different cancers accordingly, such as lung cancer, bladder cancer, skin cancer or blood cancer. Ayurveda offers effective measures for preventing cancer.

  1. According to Ayurveda, having fresh foods can help you to prevent cancer. Consuming more of green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits may prove to be helpful.
  2. Avoiding fat based foods or fried foods can be effective in preventing cancer. Strike off hydrogenated fats (such as cookies, peanut butter, crackers etc) or saturated animal fats from your diet.
  3. Exercising on a regular basis may be very helpful. Stretching exercises, walking, breathing exercises and aerobics are considered to be useful preventive measures for cancer.
  4. Meditation and yoga are also effective ways to prevent cancer. These can help you to reduce stress and remain calm.
  5. Drinking green tea regularly can be very useful for killing any growth of cancerous cells in your body and thus help you to prevent cancer.
  6. Cutting down on foods with higher quantities of sugar can help you to prevent cancer.

  8. Incorporate spices like turmeric in your daily cooking regimen. The 'curcumin' present in turmeric coupled with a few other accompanying properties can help to prevent the growth of cancer cells in your body.

Aged 31 I suffered from disease name lymphoma since 2014 my treatment is completed abvd kimo and radiation tell me after treatment preconditions and protection about my life secure.

MD - Radiation Oncology, MBBS, DNB (Radiotherapy)
Oncologist, Howrah
You had hodgkin lymphoma. The prognosis of this disease is good. Although rare, recurrence can occur. For that reason regular checkup is necessary. After successful treatment, patients are usually followed up every 3 months for initial 2 years and every 6 months for next 3 years. What investigations to be performed during follow up depends on initial extent of disease.

Enlarged Prostate - 6 Warning Signs To Help You Detect It!

Enlarged Prostate - 6 Warning Signs To Help You Detect It!

The condition of enlarged prostate occurs due to the enlargement of a man’s prostate gland, with the passage in time. Also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), it is more common in men over the age of 60. Some cases might have symptoms and others may be symptomless. Although the causes are relatively unknown, it is evident that BPH is not a form of cancer, neither does it cause cancer. The prostate is located below the bladder and is responsible for producing the fluid needed by semen. The growth of the prostate tissue that is associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia begins near the inner prostate which is a tissue ring around the urethra. Its growth is generally inward.

Causes
It is of common knowledge that in males, the urine originates from the bladder and flows through the urethra. BPH is a condition where the prostate experiences a benign i.e. non cancerous enlargement which leads to blockage of urine flow through the urethra (the urinary duct). The resultant enlargement, caused due to the gradual multiplication of cells, subjects the urethra to extra pressure. Further narrowing of the urethra causes more contraction of the bladder, resulting in the urine being forcefully pushed out of the body.

With time, the condition leads to the bladder muscles gradually becoming thicker, stronger and oversensitive. Contraction occurs even due to the presence of small amounts of urine, giving rise to frequent needs of urination. At one point, the bladder muscle is unable to overcome the effects of the narrowed urethra. Due to this, urine does not pass properly and the urethra is not emptied.

Some of the common symptoms of enlarged prostate include:
1. Frequent urination
2. Urgency to urinate
3. Difficulty during urination
4. A slow or weak urinary stream
5. Requirement of extra effort to urinate
6. Interrupted sleep due to need of urination

Further risks
Sometimes, when the bladder is not emptied completely, a risk of urinary tract infections develops. Some other serious problems which can be a result of enlarged prostate include blood in urine, bladder stones as well as acute urinary retention (inability to urinate). In some rare cases, kidney and/or bladder damage might also result from such a condition. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Urologist.

Laryngeal Cancer - Ayurvedic Remedies For It!

Laryngeal Cancer - Ayurvedic Remedies For It!

The formation of malignant cells in the larynx tissues leads to laryngeal cancer. Most tissue malignancy occur in the squamous cells (flat, thin cells inside the larynx lining). Men are more susceptible to laryngeal cancer than women.

Laryngeal cancer falls under the category of neck and head cancer. The risk factors of laryngeal cancer include:

  1. Using tobacco based products
  2. Drinking excessive alcohol
  3. Exposure to asbestos and sulphuric acid

The symptoms of laryngeal cancer are:

  1. Coughing or sore throat that does not heal (know more about Whooping Cough)
  2. Difficulty in swallowing
  3. Pain in the ears
  4. Throat or neck lumps
  5. Hoarseness in the voice

The conventional treatments for laryngeal cancer are radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.

Ayurvedic treatment can be used together with conventional therapies. Ayurvedic remedies have minimal side-effects and as such are safe. Usually, conventional therapies weaken the body. Fatigue is a common side-effect of harsh treatments like radiation and chemotherapy. As such, Ayurveda aims to bring the body back to balance by fighting the effects of harsh treatments that cause imbalances in the body. It hopes to achieve harmony through natural methods. It can increase energy, promote wellbeing, balance the body, mind and spirit, reduce stress and prevent the disease from returning.

Eating certain healthy food, herbs and professionally prescribed Ayurvedic remedies can help with cancer treatment. Besides healing your body from the inside, there are other important beneficial remedies that can prove to be useful. They include:

  1. Meditation can reduce blood pressure, anxiety and improve all around well-being.
  2. Yoga and pranayama is supremely helpful
  3. Oil massages with healing herbs and essential oils are good for the body and mind

Cancer treatment requires time and patience. You cannot hasten the process. If you are recovered or you are in the recovery phase, it is important not to fall back to the bad habits that put your body out of balance. So if you are on treatment, or done with the treatment, do not start smoking or drinking again. smoking and drinking harms the good effects and can lead to recurrence of the disease. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

Hello I am sagar of 19 I usually smoke 2 to 3 cigarettes a day .
I did smoking from past 2 months .
All I want to kno...
There is no way you can nullify the harmful effects of smoking without giving it up. You can try nicotine gums and patches if you wish to abstain. Smoking for 2 months, generally does not predispose to cancer, but it is never too soon, to develop cancer. It generally does not sound like cancer yet, but I would still advise to quit smoking. Its uncool.

Hi. You should go and get yourself examined by a doctor. Considering your age it does not seem malignant but still get evaluated in case it's an infection.

Symptoms And Causes Of Lung Cancer!

Lungs are the most important organ of our body that has the responsibility of taking in the oxygen and releasing out carbon dioxide. When cancer develops in it, the entire body gets imbalanced. Lung cancer leads to more death than any other type of cancer, which is why identifying the symptoms and knowing the causes are instrumental in obtaining a timely diagnosis as well as in prevention of this disease.

Symptoms of Lung Cancer

In the early stages:

  1. Persistent coughing
  2. Chest pain
  3. Bleeding
  4. Fatigue
  5. Loss of appetite
  6. Sudden weight loss
  7. Headaches
  8. Coughing up blood

In the later stages:

  1. Bone pain
  2. Joint pain
  3. Facial paralysis
  4. Neck swelling
  5. Blood clotting
  6. Weakness
  7. Sever chest pain

Causes of Lung Cancer

Smoking: People who smoke are more prone to lung cancer. With the increase in the number of cigarettes you smoke, your chances of getting lung cancer increase too. People who don't smoke but are surrounded by the smokers also have high chances of being affected by this form of cancer.

Exposure to Asbestos: Asbestos is a group of mineral, which is present naturally in the environment. Lung cancer can occur due to the inhalation and ingestion of asbestos fibers.

Exposure to Ranon Gas: Ranon is a radioactive gas, which is formed naturally on decaying of radioactive elements. It is found in low levels in the air that we breathe and the water that we drink. Consumption of air and water having this gas leads to lung cancer.

High Levels of Air Pollution: Presence of high levels of dust particles and pollutants in the air that we breathe can cause lung cancer. 1-2% of lung cancer is caused because of it.

High Levels of Arsenic in Drinking Water: Consuming water with arsenic content is harmful as it directly affects the lungs and when the arsenic content is too high, it may lead to lung cancer.

Exposure to Chemicals: Exposure to certain chemicals like uranium, coal products, gasoline, diesel exhaust and mustard gas can also cause lung cancer.

Family History of Lung Cancer: Chances of getting lung cancer increase if your parents, child or siblings are already prone to lung cancer. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Pulmonologist.

I am using Urimax 0.4 mg for benign enlargement of prostate. Is there any natural alternative to that?

BHMS
Homeopath,
I am using Urimax 0.4 mg for benign enlargement of prostate. Is there any natural alternative to that?
Follow the given medication as directed:- 1) 5 drops of homoeopathic causticum 30 at early morning daily before brushing teeth 2) 5 drops of homoeopathic conium mac 30 before going to bath daily. 3) 5 drops of homoeopathic baryta carb 30 just one hour before dinner daily. 4) homoeopathic mother tincture sabal serrulata q, 30 drops, twice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Along with the aforesaid medication few changes in your lifestyle are also necessary. Lifestyle alterations to address the symptoms include decreasing fluid intake before bedtime, moderating the consumption of alcohol and caffeine-containing products, and following a timed avoiding schedule. Also it would be better if you could avoid the urine in sitting position.

My father is 56 years old. He had sphincterotomy. Cholangiogram showed narrowing at mid CBD. No tumour observed in MRI and CT scan. But CA-19-9 is 1829.5 and CEA is 0.35. Does this indicate cancer.

MD - Alternate Medicine, Phd - Medical Biochemistry
Oncologist, Delhi
Sphincterotomy is a method of last resort, to be used when all other attempts at cannulation during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with standard cannulas, tapered cannulas, papillotomes, and guidewires have failed. Usually the pancreatitis, cholangitis, hemorrhage, and duodenal perforation. Cancer is more common in patients who are older and in those with type I and IV cysts. Please note Carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) markers and their diagnostic utility is limited due to significant overlap with benign disease and other malignancies, and also ahs low sensitivity for early stage cholangiocarcinoma (Cancer of the bile ducts). Nect step would be to evaluate Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is used to help differentiate intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). If all tests are normal, one needs to evaluate the cause of Intrahepatic cholestasis. Will need all reports staring from the initial complaint/ procedure and others to see where we are and what could be the issue, if any.

When it comes to ancient remedies, few things have been around as long as myrrh, but its efficacy is definitely not in question. For thousands of years, myrrh has been known to possess certain anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, in addition to being able to boost immune system function, which can prevent any peripheral infections that can complicate cancer and weaken the body’s defenses. Myrrh may be difficult to find in certain parts of the western world, but it should be readily available at specialty or exotic import stores.
