approached Clove Dental for complaint of toothache in 4, 5 on the upper right teeth. They suggested RCT in both which has been done 4 times in each tooth. Now with and without the caps, the pain has increased. After so much efforts to continuously inform my increasing discomfort to Clove, they have asked me to get the CBCT done of the RCT treated teeth. Is it advisable n clinically necessary? Please do note that any x-rays or clinical history is unavailable as it was done at a private clinic. Also, the consultations undertaken were with the private practising Dentists, hence no documentation is available. I in no way want to retry RCT again for this teeth. It has repeatedly failed and added lots of unwanted harassment and increased discomfort and stress levels. Is CBCT required and clinically needed for further diagnosis?

Even it is a private dental clinic, you can still ask for all your x rays and records from them, it is your right to have access to all your history. So I would suggest you get all your past history from them, and let me help you with proper diagnosis. Cbct is mainly used for dental implant, orthodontics treatment. It can be used for root canal treatment, but most of the time, a simple x ray is sufficient for good diagnosis. I would suggest that first you demand all your documentation from them, they cannot refuse to give you that.

You might be under stress. Please check your hb and take iron supplements if necessary. Less libido may be because of not wanting to have sex. Mind and body work together. Probably you do not have desire to have sex. Try to find the reasons for this and then try to resolve it. Are there any other family issues bothering you? if so, that also can affect your libido. It is advisable to see a counsellor/sexologitst who will help you in understanding the reason for low libido and help you in leading a healthy sexual life. Remember that healthy sexual relationship is very important of a marriage.

Stress - Homeopathic Remedies for it!

Stress affects every aspect of our lives. It does not allow you to think or focus on anything else, tempts you to binge eat and takes control of your lifestyle. Stress can also cause severe health problems that can result in heart disease. Thus it is very necessary to learn how to control and manage stress. Managing your stress effectively can help you cope with it better and let your remain in control of your life.

Homeopathy is based on the belief that the mind and body are connected. Thus by treating one, the other can benefit as well. Thus when prescribing a form of treatment for any health condition, attention is always paid to the mental state of the patient. Homeopathy can be very effective in treating and controlling stress and stress related problems. When treating stress with homeopathy, it is essential to first understand the cause of stress.

Some common homeopathic remedies for stress are:

  1. Arsenic album: This is usually prescribed to people who are generally anxious and nervous. People affected by the stress of being late for an event or meeting can also be given this remedy to ease the stress. Patients who benefit from this form of treatment are also often hypochondriacs who constantly feel that every minor symptom is a sign of a major illness.
  2. Bryonia: This is very effective remedy for all kinds of stress. It can also be used to treat stress triggered by uncertainty at the workplace and insecurity about not having enough money even though they work very hard.
  3. Calcarea carbonica: This is also a common homeopathic remedy for work place related stress. People who are concerned about being observed or stressed by an upcoming deadline can be benefited by this medication. This type of stress can commonly be seen at the time of appraisals.
  4. Staphysagria: People who are extremely sensitive and feel that the world is unjust and unfair to them cab be benefited by Staphysagria. This is often faced by children bullied in school and people in corporate work environments. Staphysagria boosts confidence levels and thus makes the person feel less vulnerable.
  5. Ignatia: Emotional stress is very well treated by Ignatia. This homeopathic remedy addresses feelings of disappointment and guilt and stress that follows an emotional loss such as the loss of a loved one or breaking up for a relationship. It also fights the desire to withdraw from family and friends and moodiness.

My name is Saurabh. I had a problem of stammering. I stutter a lot nd this creates a great hindrance in my speaking. I also lack self confidence due to this and sometimes I undergo serious depression. Please help me how to overcome this problem. Its a major issue for me.

BSC - Hearing and Speech
Speech Therapist, Salem
Hi lybrate-user. Stammering can be controlled with the help of Speech Therapy. For Stammering purpose, we call it as “ Fluency Speech therapy”. First we need to find out how much severity of stammering do you have (in terms of %age). There are standardized tests to find the percentage out. Based on that percentage we can start working on Treatment plan. Please find out your Stammering Severity first. Then asap we can start working on your speech to be normal. Wish you all the best! For more details please contact. Thanks,

You have to get the diagnosis confirmed by a psychiatrist and then go for behavior modification techniques from a Occupational therapist. There are many who do not do good job, so you really have to find one who does a good behavior therapy. It will help your son overcome the deficits.

You may consider increasing your weight. Make sure you have a sound and regualr 8 hours sleep. Drink plenty of water (at least 2 litres). You should not remain constipated as that will interfere with your food intake. Eat small amounts at regular intervals. Nuts, egg, meat, cheese, fruit juice, shakes, malted drinks are tasty and nutrient as well as calorie dense. At the same time these are not too filling.

Dear lybrate user, I think, for reasons best known to you only, you are scared of getting infected with hiv. It appears to me that it is disturbing you a lot. I think, firstly, give your blood sample in the pathology lab and get yourself checked for hiv. If you are not infected, then you can be at peace. If you are infected with hiv, then you will need to consult a doctor, who will help you to manage your life. Secondly, please consult a counsellor, irrespective of the outcome of your blood test. There is something, which is bothering your mind, which you need to understand. The consellor will help you to do that. Take care.

Generally speaking, before starting medicines from a psychiatrist, it is advisable to get psycho-diagnostic testing done to determine what is the nature of symptoms- is it psychological –requiring counselling/psychotherapy or does the symptom require medicines from a psychiatrist. HOWEVER, WHEN SYMPTOMS ARE NO LONGER NORMAL OR TOUCHING UPON INSANITY, SEE A PSYCHIATRIST IMMEDIATELY. PSYCHIATRIST IS MBBS PLUS MD IN PSYCHIATRY- HE GIVES MEDICINES ONLY. TREATMENT STARTED EARLIER WILL CONTROL THE PROBLEM VERY FAST. YOU MUST SEE A QUALIFIED AND TRAINED PSYCHOLOGIST FOR CORRECT DIAGNOSIS. MANY PEOPLE CALL THEMSELVES PSYCHOLOGIST, JUST AFTER A BA OR GRADUATION DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY, OR AFTER MA OR MASTERS IN PSYCHOLOGY. - A PhD in psychology is reqd. To qualify as doctor. Difference is same as you see MBBS doctor or MD doctor as a specialist for any illness. PSYCHOLOGIST IS AN EXPERT IN DIAGNOSIS BY PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING AND COUNSELLING/PSYCHOTHERAPY I.E. TREATMENT WITHOUT MEDICINES. GET PROPER DIAGNOSIS FIRST FOLLOWED BY RIGHT TREATMENT. PLEASE GET DIAGNOSIS CONFIRMED FIRST THEN TAKE MEDICINES AS ADVISED. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT PROBLEM IS PSYCHOLOGICAL-THEN IT WILL NOT BE CURED BY MEDICINES. YOU WILL NEED PSYCHOTHERAPY.
