Strain Injury

Don't ignore the early signs of strain injury like the weakness of the grip, numbness, and pain or discomfort in the arms, hands, wrists or shoulders.

This could be due to lumbar spondylosis with nerve root compression. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take paracetamol 250mg od & sos you will need other supportive medicines also. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take you may have to use lumbosacral support for some time. Avoid painful act/activities. Take medicines as prescribed it may have to be further investigated. Do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan.

My back bone pains a lot. Sometimes I suffer problem in sitting and standing. What should I do?
Back pain that is associated with day time sedentary jobs like computer professional s are associated with paraspinal muscle spasms. The best way to tackle this sort of pain is to do well spaced stretching exercises of the back, back extension exercises, using hot water bags to provide relief and avoiding stooping posture while sitting. Posture also plays a very important part in back pain, always maintain a straight posture while sitting. While getting up from the bed try to first go on your left or right side of the body and get up side ways. Avoid cruntches or sit-ups: they may increase the pressure on your back and may predispose to slip disc. Always maintain a healthy lifestyle in terms of regular brisk walking, meditation, eating healthy. P. S: try to avoid pain killers (analgesics) as much as possible as many are associated with side effects that you may not be aware of. Stay healthy. Stay happy god bless you.

I am 30 years old. I have back pain. I am working data entry and I have mobile shop. I am working daily fifteen hrs. ...
Hunching over a desk is a leading reason why people end up with crippling back pain at some point in their lives. But a few simple changes in the way you work can make your pain go away. 1-Keep your head up; Focus on aligning your head and neck right above your shoulders; avoid straining forward. 2-Be choosy with your chair: Pick one that allows your lower back to rest against a lumbar support. Then tilt the back of the chair so it’s very slightly reclined. 3-Plant your feet: Keep them flat on the floor and shoulder-width apart to quiet tension in your knees and ankles. 4-Take breaks: Getting up at least once an hour— just do some shoulder rolls—reduces pressure on spinal disks and boosts circulation. Standing for long periods of time can contribute to lower back pain. This is a low dull pain sometimes felt in the base of the spine. This form of pain is amplified with periods of stress, poor posture, weak abdominals and/or excessive body weight. There are many exercises that should be performed to address the issue of back pain from standing. These exercises try to relieve both the tightness and imbalances in the lumbar spine. They also serve to reduce the added pressure that your facet joints are subjected to. If your back pain is severe please go to a Physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your pain. Best wishes.

Am having leg pain since some days and not able to climb steps like earlier. It starts paining.
You will have to notice whether pain disappear when you are sleeping on bed. If pain decrease then it is a mechanical pain and you will have to do back bending (extension exercise) 10 reparations every hour. If then also you are not feeling better then go for x-ray of lumber spine (ap+lat)

My age is 33 yrs. I am experiencing pain in right shoulder blade. The pain is not spreading to other places. I noticed when I sit for too long I get this pain. Could you please suggest what precausions to take or any medicine.

Hi thanks for your query. If you have only localized shoulder pain, then you have to rule out any injury as a cause for it. There are many causes of shoulder pain but we have to look out for a cause as treatment is dependent on it. If there is no swelling/fever etc, then I think intensive physical therapy with a short course of anti-inflammatory medications can be tried, if it does not improve in next 2-3 weeks, then we will have to evaluate to find out a cause and treat accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

4 Causes Of Dislocation!

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Coimbatore
4 Causes Of Dislocation!

Dislocation refers to an injury, which causes the bones to abnormally separate from each other in the joint, which is the meeting place of the bones. Dislocation causes intense pain and is most common in the fingers, shoulders and the elbows. Although a timely diagnosis can make your pain go away, any future injury in the tendons or the ligaments might bring back the injury.

What can cause a dislocation?
The causes of dislocation are as follows:

  1. A body joint can get dislocated if you have suffered a fall.
  2. If you are into any form of sports that requires strenuous physical activity and intense exertion on certain body parts like gymnastics, football or volleyball you have a chance of suffering from dislocated body joints.
  3. Automobile accidents can also cause dislocation of joints.
  4. Some People who are with a loose ligament and are more likely to get a dislocated joint than other people. This may happen without the influence of a major physical trauma or stress.

Understanding the signs and symptoms
In the majority of the cases, a dislocation of the joint is easily detectable as it induces inflammation along with redness and deformation of the affected area. Some of the other symptoms that might occur as a result of the dislocation of the body joints could be:

  1. You might experience severe pain while moving the dislocated joint.
  2. There will be a lack of sensation near the dislocated portion.
  3. There might be a stinging sensation in the dislocated area.
  4. In certain areas you may not be able to move the joint at all

If you have a dislocated joint, the doctors can easily relocate them. Depending on the amount of swelling and pain you are experiencing, the doctor might administer local anesthesia during the process. If the joint dislocation is too severe or has multiple instances of dislocation, then you may have to undergo surgery. Surgery may also be suggested if the adjoined ligaments or tendons are severely affected along with the joints.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
