Dear Please drink at least one glass of water every 2 hours. Lack of water can cause acidity leading to migraine. Also, make sure you are eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, chewing the food properly. When there is undigested, oily, preservative rich, un-natural an stale food in the diet, it leads to acidity. This will also cause pimples, rough skin, hair fall, sleep disturbances etc. At you age, make sure you follow healthy diet and exercise habits. Regards.

Migraine can be managed with lifestyle changes and medications, try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation may help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. Rest and relax. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. It is very important keep a headache diary. Continue keeping your headache diary even after you see doctor. It will help you learn more about what triggers your migraines and what treatment is most effective. A dose of riboflavin in appropriate dose as prescribed under supervision, also may prevent migraines or reduce the frequency of headaches. Coenzyme q10 supplements may decrease the frequency of migraines, magnesium supplements may also be used to treat migraines.

No medically, if you want to take care, then you avoid fat related, more carbohydrate intake,& try to take millets, cereals, brown rice, whole wheat contents, if you take soaked almond. Then peel it off, & then take. Take plenty water like. Max 3-4 litres/day, try to do morning & evening walk, regularly for at least 30-60 min, not brisk. 10 min. Before going to walk, must take 1 litre of water and again after taking walk, take water. Night before going to bed{1 hr before]take water atleast 1 glass. Take regularly, sprouts, honey lemon water, all fruits, avoid spicy, oily, fried, junk, ghee made, fast food, sweets. Take bland diet only. Practice pranayama daily twice. Morning & before to bed. I am prone to migraine headache. When I get it my sight becomes blur, numbness in hands and severe pain of head and eye on one side. Whats immediate remedy and long term remedy to get out of it.

MBBS, MD - Anaesthesiology, FIPM
Pain Management Specialist, Pune
Migraine headache is characterised by unilateral pulsating headache associated with nause/vomiting and photophobia / phonophobia. You have migraine with aura in which neurological poblems like blurring of vision or numbness of legs/hands occur but all symptoms are reversible. There are triggers for migraine like sun exposure, certain foods or smell, lack of sleep, excess caffeine etc. The triggers are variable for different patients. Migraine attacks can be managed by simple painkillers like paracetamol but in resistant cases drugs like Sumatriptan may be needed. For frequent episodes of migraine preventive medications are to be taken by prescription. There are various medicines available for this and if control is not achieved with one medicine another drug is to be added. Don't take painkillers daily for migraine headaches, it's better to take the preventive medicines. Painkillers on long term basis can further aggravate the migraine headache into Medication Overuse Headace (Read my health tip on Medication Overuse Headache) Follow these lifestyle changes to avoid migraine headache 1. Maintain regular sleep wake cycle, even on holiday's. 2. Don't skip meals. Take regular healthy diet with adequate fluids 3. Do not consume excess caffeine / carbohydrates / alcohol or smoke. 4. Exercise daily (aerobics and cardiovascular) 5. Identify your headache trigger and try to avoid it. 6. Do pranayam daily. 7. Acupuncture treatment has shown some benefits in migraine. You can consult a pain specialist for therapies like dry needling or botulinum injections for your problem. Consult again for further queries.
