I was bit by a street dog in connaught place Delhi. It scratched my hand and a bite mark in my leg. I do not have money for vaccination right now. What should I do. What are the chances of the dog being rabid? How do I know I have rabies or not?

MBBS
General Physician, Cuttack
Rabies is due to a virus which is transmitted to human being by the bite of infected wild animals like wolve, jackals, fox, wild bat, dog, cat, monkey etc. The incubation period (the period between the bite and appearence of symptoms) may vary from 10-90 days. Some times it can develop as early as within 4 days. (the vius is present in saliva of infected anima (even if bitten/scratched) l and is contagious. A bite in face, neck, head will have shorter ip than bite in arm/leg. The initial symptoms are similar to flu like fever, headache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite feeling unwell, anxiety which lasts for 2-10 days. Then severe symptoms like aggressive behaviour, auditory/visual hallucination, anxiety, insomnia confusion, agitation, increased salivation, seizure, mild or partial paralysis, difficulty in swallowing, fear of water (hydrophobia). Death occurs in few days due to respiratory failure treatment 1. Thorough washing/flushing of the wound with soap and wate for 15 minutes, injection tt, antibiotic. 2. Remove cloth contaminated by saliva 3. You have to take 5 doses of rabipur vaccine 6. Consult doctor for further advice.

Sir, way back in the year 2011 I am not sure about whether I was either bitten or got a scratch by a dog but I am pretty sure that there was no flow of any blood. At that time I ignored as there was no blood and even I couldnt find any scratch. Now I am bit reluctant about it. Can I take vaccine now as there is not even a single symptom of rabbies after almost 6 years of the incident.

Hello! Rabies infection is caused by rabies virus, transmitted by bite of a rabid dog. The incubation period of this infection is usually 1 to 3 months. WHO (world health organization) says it can range from 1 week to 1 year. Since 6 years have passed since the incident, you don't have to worry about possibility of infection and vaccination now. Moreover from what you said, it looks like you had a Class 1 bite. Meaning, mildest form of dog bite. Hope this has helped you:-)

I suffering from asthma. From childhood. I'm now 24 years old .how I clear asthma from root.
A respiratory condition marked by attacks of spasm in the bronchi of the lungs, causing difficulty in breathing. It is usually connected to allergic reaction or other forms of hypersensitivity Description To understand asthma, it helps to know how the airways work. The airways are tubes that carry air into and out of your lungs. People who have asthma have inflamed airways. The inflammation makes the airways swollen and very sensitive. The airways tend to react strongly to certain inhaled substances. When the airways react, the muscles around them tighten. This narrows the airways, causing less air to flow into the lungs. The swelling also can worsen, making the airways even narrower. Cells in the airways might make more mucus than usual. Mucus is a sticky, thick liquid that can further narrow the airways. This chain reaction can result in asthma symptoms. Symptoms can happen each time the airways are inflamed. Cause • Allergy • Tobacco Smoke • Environmental Factor • Obesity • Pregnancy • Stress • Genes • Airway Hyperactivity • Atopy Allopathic and Homoeopathic Treatment o Most people need to take more than one type of medication to control asthma. O Not everyone with asthma takes the same Homoeopathic medication. There are many different asthma medications and they come in many forms: pills. O Allopathic medications are often divided into two groups: bronchodilators and anti-inflammatory agents. O There's no allopathic medication to cure asthma completely. Asthma medications are used to stop, control and prevent asthma symptoms. O Within three month of Homoeopathic treatment Asthma is permanently curable. Hello Sir, When we breathing the impure air such as sand dust, etc. Would those dust settle in lungs. Or would it com out in human waste.

PGD Maternal Child Health, MBBS
General Physician, Akola
While the micro hairs in respiratory passages try to trap and throw away all particulate impurity above a few micron size but still many fine particles do enter the lungs and block the gas exchange areas. People working in coal and stone crusgeries, cement factories are exposed to this as an occupational hazard and suffer from diseases like anthrosilicosis where there lungs become so hard that on post mortem need to be cut with saws to be examined. Proper masks on mouth and nose can help us in saving ourselves from such pollutants entering our lungs.

MD - General Medicine, MBBS

Significant time has passed and efficacy of rabies vaccine at this juncture is not 100%. Still my advice is to take vaccine along with tetanus toxoid. If the cat is domestic and healthy you need not worry.

Moreover when weather changes or I come in contact with dust or smoke then also I have breathing issues. My chest x-ray is always normal. I don't understand what the problem is. Dear Lybrate user, Anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. These feelings may cause physical symptoms, such as a racing heart and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. Anxiety medicines alone cannot cure anxiety disorders mainly because medicines do not alter behavior. Behavior change and Continuous practice of the changed behavior cure anxiety. I suggest anxiety education, progressive counseling and progressive psychotherapy. I assure you complete cure. I need to know more about your anxiety so that I will be able to diagnose it properly and provide you tips to overcome and manage your anxiety. Take care.

Save your body from dust, allergens, you can take regular homeopathic medicines and can avoid inhaler frequently. It's a bronchodilator, you know better if you dilate something continuosly than elasticity of that gets affected. So, it can give side effects even after 10 -12 years. Now you are 30, so young, save your body from steroids, prolonged use of harmful drugs.
