What should a person avoid eating if he has thyroid. Is thyroid treatable? please reply.

What should a person avoid eating if he has thyroid. Is thyroid treatable? please reply.
Thyroid is treatable, but we should know the present levels to understand how much intensive its rt now. In hypothyroid patients, better to avoid taking much quantity of cabbage, cauliflower, soya contents, peanuts, bracccoli etc. But in smaller quantity you can take, you need to consume more iodine contained diet. Where in that bhendi contain good amount of iodine.

You seem to be over occupied with your own thought process. Yes being introvert is one of the reasons for the way you feel. You are reading too much between the lines and so your concentration on the happenings around you is less and you think you are absent minded. You have got a kind of guilty conscience about your so called bad qualities, which can be corrected by sincere efforts. Having sugar level 135 is not anything which you have to worry for. The feeling of weakness might be due to your negative thoughts and loss of appetite and poor nutrition. The same may be the cause of mouth ulcers. Think on a positive note and many things can change dramatically.

IUI - 4 Reasons To Go For It

MBBS, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MNAMS, Training in USG
Gynaecologist, Delhi
IUI - 4 Reasons To Go For It

Intrauterine insemination or IUI is a form of artificial insemination that involves the sperm being placed inside the uterus of a woman for bringing about fertilization. The aim of this procedure is to enhance the number of sperms that successfully reach the fallopian tubes and fertilize an egg, thereby increasing your chances of getting pregnant. Depending on the cause of your infertility, the procedure can be synchronized with fertility drugs or your ovulation cycle.

When should you go for IUI?

While reduced sperm mobility or a low sperm count may be the reason this procedure is opted for, there are certain conditions that may cause you and your partner to opt for IUI:

  • If the cause of your infertility doesn't have any medical explanation
  • Problems with ejaculation affecting the release of semen
  • Problems associated with cervical mucus can hinder the journey of the sperm from the vagina to the fallopian tubes
  • Scarring of the cervix due to past surgical procedures, rendering the sperm unable to enter the uterus

At the same time, the procedure is not recommended for women who suffer from:

  • A disease of the fallopian tubes
  • Past episodes of pelvic infections
  • Mild to severe endometriosis (a condition wherein the womb's lining grows outside it)

What happens after IUI?

The procedure takes up only a few minutes of your time and causes very little discomfort. Following the procedure, you'll be told to lie on your back for a short period of time, after which you can get back to your normal routine the same day. You can expect instances of light spotting, which will go away after two days. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

I am 31 year old female. Recently got tsh test having hair fall badly tsh is 6.26.doctor told me dis is hypothyroid. ...
Managing Hypothyroidism to get optimal results is both a Science and an Art. TSH in itself is not a reliable parameter. One needs to check other thyroid parameters as well. Furthermore, in my experience Hypothyroidism is best managed by use of Compounded Thyroids containing T3 as well as T4. Additionally, it is important to balance other related hormones and nutrients to ensure that both endogenous as well as exogenous Thyroid hormones work efficiently. The goals have to be clear defined and one must work towards reaching them. It is important to be aware of the long term risks of hypothyroidism that include subfertility/infertility, miscarriage, gestational diabetes, overt diabetes, Hypertension and other age-related disease. Hence a long term therapy plan is integral to Hypothyroidism.

Common Cause of Infertility in Females

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
IVF Specialist, Delhi
Common Cause of Infertility in Females

Common Cause of Infertility in Females

For pregnancy to occur, every part of the complex human reproduction process has to take place just right. The steps in this process are as follows:

  • One of the two ovaries releases a mature egg.
  • The egg is picked up by the fallopian tube.
  • Sperm swim up the cervix, through the uterus and into the fallopian tube to reach the egg for fertilization.
  • The fertilized egg travels down the fallopian tube to the uterus.
  • The fertilized egg implants and grows in the uterus.

In women, a number of factors can disrupt this process at any step. Female infertility is caused by one or more of these factors.

Ovulation disorders

Ovulation disorders, meaning you ovulate infrequently or not at all, account for infertility in about 25 percent of infertile couples. These can be caused by flaws in the regulation of reproductive hormones by the hypothalamus or the pituitary gland, or by problems in the ovary itself.

  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).In PCOS, complex changes occur in the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and ovaries, resulting in a hormone imbalance, which affects ovulation. PCOS is associated with insulin resistance and obesity, abnormal hair growth on the face or body, and acne. It’s the most common cause of female infertility.
  • Hypothalamic dysfunction. The two hormones responsible for stimulating ovulation each month — follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) — are produced by the pituitary gland in a specific pattern during the menstrual cycle. Excess physical or emotional stress, a very high or very low body weight, or a recent substantial weight gain or loss can disrupt this pattern and affect ovulation. The main sign of this problem is irregular or absent periods.
  • Premature ovarian insufficiency. This disorder is usually caused by an autoimmune response where your body mistakenly attacks ovarian tissues or by premature loss of eggs from your ovary due to genetic problems or environmental insults such as chemotherapy. It results in the loss of the ability to produce eggs by the ovary, as well as a decreased estrogen production under the age of 40.
  • Too much prolactin.Less commonly, the pituitary gland can cause excess production of prolactin (hyperprolactinemia), which reduces estrogen production and may cause infertility. Most commonly this is due to a problem in the pituitary gland, but it can also be related to medications you’re taking for another disease.

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an IVF Specialist.

Health benefits of pickles

Free radical scavenging from antioxidants: pickles can be good source of antioxidants, especially decalepis hamiltonii or swallow root. As the vegetables or unripe fruits are stored fresh without cooking, the antioxidants present in those vegetables or unripe fruits are preserved as it is. Antioxidants are those micronutrients that help in protecting our body against the attacks of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable chemicals that are produced during cellular metabolism. These unstable chemicals react with our cells and damage our dna to become unstable and in the process, create more and more free radicals. We can protect ourselves from free radical attacks by consuming food with high antioxidants. A lot of emphasis these days is put on antioxidants by dieticians and doctors.

Supply of probiotic or gut-friendly bacteria: probiotic bacteria are those friendly bacteria that are present in our digestive system. These bacteria actually help us in the digestion of food. Sometimes, due to the use of antibiotics, along with invading bacteria, these friendly bacteria are also killed. The fall in their numbers can cause digestive problems that can be solved by eating pickles made without the use of vinegar. Naturally fermented salt pickles encourage the growth of these friendly bacteria, which will replenish the numbers in our digestive system and restore our health.

Supply of essential minerals and vitamins: fresh pickles, dips or chutneys are made from leafy vegetables or herbs such as coriander, curry leaves, spinach, parsley, and amaranth. These fresh pickles are interesting and appetizing ways of making children eat their share of leafy vegetables and herbs, which are otherwise boring for children. Eating freshly made pickles not only tastes good, but they also supply essential vitamins such as vitamin c, a, k, folate and minerals like iron, calcium, and potassium. Vitamins and minerals are vital micronutrients which protect us from diseases, help us build immunity, bone strengthening, vision protection, curing anemia, and various other functions.

Diabetes control: studies have shown that consuming vinegar based pickles improves hemoglobin levels in diabetic patients, which in turn helps in controlling diabetes. The acetic acid present in vinegar has been noted to be responsible for this phenomenon. However, care must be taken to avoid the consumption of salted pickles as excess salt increases blood pressure.

Improves digestion: in india, indian gooseberry or amla (phyllanthus emblica) is one of the favourite fruits that are pickled. This fruit is believed to possess several health benefits according to ayurveda treatments and moreover, since amla is a seasonal fruit, unripe amla pickles are prepared. It is customary practice in some indian families to have amla pickle as the first course or an appetizer as it is believed that amla pickle improves digestion.

Liver protection: apart from benefits such as improved digestion, amla or gooseberry pickle also has hepatoprotective properties. Studies have shown that when amla extracts were administered on lab animals with chemical-induced hepatotoxicity or liver damage, the damage was reduced significantly.

Reduces ulcers: ulcers are internal wounds caused due to a failure of mucus membranes and acid interaction on tissues. Particularly, gastric ulcers are caused by a weakening of mucous membrane and hyperacidity. Regular consumption of amla or indian gooseberry pickles also help in reducing ulcers, if any.

Dear, Diabetes is often called the silent killer. Diabetes, is a metabolic disease in which sugar does not get metabolized properly in the body. This means that the blood sugar levels continue to be high, threatening the normal functioning of the body. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When on treatment with adequate dose of Levothyroxine, TSH should be maintained <3 mU/L, then only all the symptoms of hypothyroidism are controlled. So if your TSH is at 46 mU/L, then it is not at all in control. Hence all the symptoms are bound to be there or will reappear. So there is a need for increasing the dosage of thyroxine. Thanks.

Watermelon is one of the good fruits for diabetics. But advice you to not eat more than two bowls a day.(aprox total 100grams a day). As per height and weight you mentioned I suggest you also to reduce your weight slowly because the more you weigh there are more chances of poorly controlling the blood sugar levels and it's complications.
