Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

I m 38 years old last 15 days back I fell due to that I got a swelling on my ankle but I committed a blunder by not going to doctor. I m able to stand but can't walk. When now I showed to doctor he says its dislocated n fractured n needs to be operated. I don't want surgery. What should I do? shall I take a second opinion?

Kindly show me digital x rays of affected part.(ankle) rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use pillow under the leg & ankle. Do hot fomantation. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days bio d3 max 1tab od x10 do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I just suffer from continuous bearable pain in right hip side. When I take some medicines I get temporary relief. Again the pain occurs.

Please correct your posture while sitting, sleeping. Also try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Consult after 5 days.

Exercises for AS may be done at home or in a gym, or in a group or individual physical therapy program. The activities below may be incorporated into your AS exercise program, but your doctor or physical therapist’s specific recommendations should be followed first and foremost. Breathing exercises These movements may not cause a sweat, but they are invaluable at maintaining flexibility in your rib joints to keep you breathing easy. Breathing exercises are a great way to begin and end your workout. One example of a breathing exercise is below: Take a deep breath, filling your chest with as much air as possible Hold the breath for three seconds Slowly exhale through your mouth If you do yoga or tai chi, those exercises also focus your attention on deep breathing. Flexibility exercises Speaking of yoga and tai chi, they are among the top exercise programs to improve spinal flexibility. These activities use isometric training—that is, you strengthen muscles while holding a position rather than moving between different positions—to increase range of motion. Flexibility exercises gently stretch and extend your spine, keeping joints flexible and warding off stiffness. Strengthening exercises Strengthening exercises cannot be overvalued to spinal health. Strong back muscles support your posture, which is important for anyone with AS. Also, keeping your spinal muscles strong allows them to support your joints. You don’t have to lift heavy weights to effectively strengthen your back muscles—light hand weights and resistance training using your own body weight (eg, yoga) are effective. Cardiovascular exercises Low-impact cardiovascular exercises, such as walking or cycling, are great for joint health. But few exercises are as widely recommended for AS as aquatic activities, such as swimming or water aerobics. Water offers an anti-gravity environment that is easy on your joints, and the pool provides gentle resistance to help you comfortably build cardiovascular health.

I am 25 years old. I never had sex till now, but I am facing certain problems -swelling in foots, lumps in lower part of leg and lower part of legs have become fatty as compared to my body, whitish water during urination, gastric problem and back pain.

it could be due to the demyelination of the nerves. the best treatment would be to undergo shashtik shali swedana at a panchakarma centre near you. It will benefit a great deal. Also start taking ashwagandharishtam 15 ml twice a day after meals.

I am 32 years old male having pain in my heel both feet. The pain would rise when I get up from my sleep that would make me difficult to walk. Eventually it would subside after an hour or 2. But the pain remains if you press your heel with your hands. At this point it is bearable. Also I have a pain in my lower back. Just 2 of the bones in the lower back. I am not sure which specialist should I consult because my friends say either visit a medicine Dr. Some has suggested an Orthopaedic and others a neurologist. Please suggest.

Requires detailed examination and investigation. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, inform

In the childhood when I was students I was doing homework and doing computer work my sitting posture on the table are not good becoz of that my back bone are not straight little curved and now am habitual so please tell me what to do. This is cervical pain (neck pain) and that's the reason the pain radiates until the shoulder blades. If you keep ice that would help to reduce the pain and feel relaxed and comfortable. You shall also do hot water fermentation that would improve the blood circulation to the painful area and thereby the pain would be reduced. You shall use cervical collar which would help you to reduce the radiating pain and also that would improve the cervical angle and improve the anatomical posture. The pain actually triggers due to nerve compression and that would definitely improve by wearing a cervical collar.

Hello start physiotherapy treatment and learn posture care/ spine exercise. Meanwhile take few precautions. 1) take hot water fomentation for 20 min. At every 3hrs. Interval. 2) do not lift heavy weights or twist your spine 3) do not wear high heals do not ignore your back pain and do reply for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Best wishes.
