Are there any disadvantages of ICL surgery for eyes in long run? and Is the surgery permanent or lens have to be replaced after few years?

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Icl implantation carries several risks associated with eye surgeries, such as the development of small cloudy areas of opacities on the crystalline lens which could occur if the lens is touched during the surgery, increased rate of endothelial cell loss from the back surface of the cornea, and increased pressure inside of the eye. To minimize pressure in the eye post-op, drops are usually applied to the eye, or the creation of an additional peripheral iridotomy may be necessary to improve fluid flow. Additionally, short-term irritations include conjunctiva irritation, corneal swelling, infections, non-reactive pupil, and irritation of the iris. Usually these irritations are transient in nature.

For this you will have to get computerised eye checkup by eye care specialist. Also I would recommend you that take frequent breaks while watching tv. If you get too much eye strain. Dip a handkerchief in cold water and keep it over closed eyes. That will give you relief.

Identify the cause for allergy and avoid it. Use mild soap for the face. Dont splash water inside your eyes. Cold packs will be better . Artificial Tears will not help you. Cold packs will be good. Avoid antibiotic eye drops.

I have red eyes last three weeks what should I do please give me your suggestion and headache I need your help.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Lybrate itching, rednessredness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic. (4) raised intraocular pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the coats of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. In case you have a family history of glaucoma or if you have pain in the eyes along with the headache, it would be better to get your eye pressures checked.

I have problem in eyes has I can not see properly I use spec so there is any treatment in order to remove spec.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Sangrur
There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 24 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

My eyes are burning for over 3 days. I am not able to understand why its happening. Please suggest me what should I do?

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
If redness and associated with discharge and pain it's probably acute bacterial conjunctivitis. Dont. Worry. Put topical eyedrops toba and flur four times a day and tearsubstitute like genteal four times a day in the affected eye. It would be okay in 3 -4 days. Take care of eye hygiene that you yourself/other family members don't share the clothes and hankie of the affected eye to the normal eye else the normal eye with also contract the infection. You can wash your eyes twice to thrice but not very frequently as it washes away the tear film which naturally contains imp antibacterial and anti infective elements. But still its wise to see an ophthalmologist for a thorough slit lamp examination. If no redness you can use genteal thrice daily.
