Hey. I want to ask you that is it rumour that ipill sometimes don't work even taken before 72 hours from sex? Or it is real fact? And one more thing, is this possible that girl may get pregnant even when she is not in the time of periods? Waiting for your response.

MBBS, DGO, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Gynaecologist, Chennai
I pill if taken within 72 hours will not fail. A girl can get pregnant before attaining menarche because ovulation may start first and then periods start.

What's sex? At a glance -

What's sex? At a glance -

People define "sex" in different ways. It can include vaginal, oral, and anal sex, and other activities.

Vaginal, oral, and anal sex have more risks (like pregnancy or spreading STDs) than other sexual activities.

If you're going to have any kind of sex, it's important to make sure you (and your partner) both feel ready and are protecting yourselves against pregnancy and STDs.

What?s sex?

People define "sex" in different ways. Some people believe that it only counts as sex if a penis goes into a vagina, but this isn't true for everybody. There are lots of different ideas about what sex can be:

Vaginal sex (penis-in-vagina intercourse)
Oral sex (mouth-to-genital contact)
Anal sex (penis-in-anus intercourse)
Dry humping or genital rubbing
Fingering or hand jobs (hand-to-genital contact)
Masturbation

Most sexperts like us believe "sex" includes any or all of the above.

However you define it, being sexual with another person takes a lot of responsibility. Before you have sex, think about what things you feel comfortable doing, and if there are consequences to them (like STDs or pregnancy). It's just as important to think about what you DON'T feel comfortable doing. And if you're in the middle of doing something that you thought you wanted to do, but change your mind, that's OK, too. You can stop any time you want to.

If you're going to have vaginal, oral, or anal sex, talk with your partner about how you'll protect yourselves against STDs.
If one of you has a penis and the other has a vagina, and you're having the kinds of sex that can cause pregnancy, it's also important to use birth control if you don't want to get pregnant.

Doctor Prescribed Fosavance 70 mg/5600 IU (Alendronic Acid (70 mg, Vitamin D3 (5600IU)) and told not to eat anything & sleep after taking it for 40 minutes. I want to know why such restrictions for taking this medicine?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
It is better absorbed only when these are kept The tablet should be taken first thing in the morning when you get up, and at least half an hour before you take your first meal, beverage, or other medication of the day. To reduce the risk of irritating the throat or esophagus, take the tablet with a full glass (250 mL) of plain water only. If your normal drinking water is classified as "hard water," it may decrease the absorption of this medication and you should consider taking it with distilled water. After swallowing, do not lie down until 30 minutes have passed and you have eaten your first meal of the day. Do not take this medication at bedtime or before getting up in the morning. Swallow the tablets whole. Do not chew or suck on the tablets.

How To Combat Lifestyle Diseases Like Diabetes And Hypertension?

MBBS, MD - General Medicine
General Physician, Gurgaon
How To Combat Lifestyle Diseases Like Diabetes And Hypertension?

There are some diseases which a person can get affected by due to no fault of theirs, at all. And then, there are lifestyle diseases for which a person is solely responsible. So what can be done in order to fight lifestyle diseases like hypertension and diabetes, which can cause more than a fair amount of trouble?

The most important thing to keep in mind when an individual is battling a lifestyle disease is the diet of the person. Even for someone who has not had the misfortune of being affected by such a disease, the general level of health has a lot to do with what is eaten and drunk. One of the first things one should do is to eliminate the unhealthy fats (also known as saturated fats and trans-fats) that may be a part of one’s diet and replace them with more healthy fats. For instance, chips and other oily food need to be replaced with unsaturated fats. Omega 3 fatty acids are also good for the body, if consumed in a reasonable quantity. One of the best sources for Omega 3 is fish.

One of the ways to determine if a person is at risk is by checking if the waist size of an individual is larger than what it should be. In the case of men, if the waist size is more than 40 inches, it means he may be at significant risk. On the other hand, when it comes to women, the waist size should not exceed 35 inches.

A lot of people do try and eat food which is more nutritious. While this is a very good and recommended practice, the pitfall comes by way of not keeping track of what is eaten. So, it is always a good idea to keep a food diary. Not only does this increase the chances of a person sticking to a beneficial diet, but also it provides a record, which can be checked to measure the intake of salt, sugar and fat. This is important since salt often becomes a major cause leading to lifestyle diseases. So, there should be no added salt to meals once they are prepared. Instead of using salt, herbs can add a wonderful flavour to your meals. Similarly, excess consumption of sugar or fat is also not beneficial in the long run. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a General Physician.

I am 25 years old. my wife always licks and sucks my penis and drink my semen daily 3 times. Is it good. ?

Advanced Aesthetics
Ayurveda, Gulbarga
Benefits to swallowing semen probably not. Some studies have claimed that swallowing the semen of a healthy male has no risk. Even going so far as to promote certain benefits of swallowing semen (e. G, supposed anti-depressant effects). However, other studies point out its potential risks. Fellatio (giving a man oral sex) can put you at risk for sexually transmitted diseases (stds) like hiv, herpes or hpv. Hiv can be spread through oral sex especially if you have an open sore, bleeding gums or gingivitis. Herpes and human papillomavirus (hpv) can be spread through skin-to-skin contact, including oral sex. And unfortunately hpv has also been linked, recently, to cases of throat cancer. According to the centers for disease control and prevention (cdc), hepatitis b can also be spread if infected semen or blood comes into contact with an open sore or cut in the mouth. So, to be on the safe side, if you have any doubt about your partner s std status, I encourage you to use a condom during oral sex until you ve both been tested, and treated (if necessary) for stds. Any querries ask privetly.

I am 29 years female. I have suffered from vaginal fistula during epiostomy. Is it curable thru medicines or operation is a must. Please advice.

MS sexuality, M.Phil Clinical Psychology, PhD (behaviour modification), Certified in Treatment of Resistant Depression

Many fistula resulting from obstetrics surgery usually heal fully needing no further treatment. When the fistula persists after this period and become uninflammed and supple they need to be repaired.
