Sir I am of 41 years old and sir my problem is that from 2 years I have headache daily I went to many of doctors but ...
Few things related to headache so that we can plan the treatment accordingly - if pain is associated with blurred or decreased vision than check your eye sight for refractive error - if the pain is associated with cold and fever than we have to rule out sinusitis as the cause and if the pain is pulsatile in nature and with a throbbing pain usually with an aura than we have to rule out migrane as the cause - if the pain is associated with neck problems than we have to rule out cervical spondylosis as the cause - if the pain is associated with either low or high bp or due to hyperacidity than we have to treat the cause after examination and I will suggest you to buy a steam inhaler machine of crescent company and take a flow of steam (of plain water only) over the forehead through the inhaler and can repeat the process after eight hours as and when required.

I am suffering from high fever nose for 2 days. I am Diabetic. Please suggest the best medical advice.
Bed rest, plenty of oral fluids and paracetamol tablets 500 mg 3 times a day for 2-3 days may be tried. However it is very important to keep blood sugar levels in normal range. For which frequent blood tests and monitoring of medications is must. Diabetes medicines should not be discontinued. If fever persists see your doctor for clinical examination, related tests, diagnosis and treatment.

Diabetes - 6 Ways You Can Prevent it

MD - Diabetology, MBBS
Diabetologist, Surat
Diabetes - 6 Ways You Can Prevent it

Diabetes is growing to be the epidemic of modern days. The challenge here is it is not just about managing your sugar levels, but the whole lot of symptoms that diabetes brings with it. From bones to teeth to kidneys to wounds, diabetes affects all body systems. It is therefore very essential to watch out for symptoms of diabetes and curb it in its early stages. This will help control diabetes significantly along with its effects on the whole body.

Diabetes Complications-

Long-term complications of diabetes develop gradually. The longer you have diabetes — and the less controlled your blood sugar — the higher the risk of complications. Eventually, diabetes complications may be disabling or even life-threatening. Possible complications include:

  1. Cardiovascular disease. Diabetes dramatically increases the risk of various cardiovascular problems, including coronary artery disease with chest pain (angina), heart attack, stroke and narrowing of arteries (atherosclerosis). If you have diabetes, you are more likely to have heart disease or stroke.
  2. Nerve damage. Excess sugar can injure the walls of the tiny blood vessels (capillaries) that nourish your nerves, especially in your legs. This can cause tingling, numbness, burning or pain. Left untreated, you could lose all sense of feeling in the affected limbs.
  3. Kidney damage. The kidneys contain millions of tiny blood vessel clusters (glomeruli) that filter waste from your blood. Diabetes can damage this delicate filtering system. Severe damage can lead to kidney failure or irreversible end-stage kidney disease, which may require dialysis or a kidney transplant.
  4. Eye damage. Diabetes can damage the blood vessels of the retina (diabetic retinopathy), potentially leading to blindness.
  5. Foot damage. Nerve damage in the feet or poor blood flow to the feet increases the risk of various foot complications. These infections may ultimately require toe, foot or leg amputation.
  6. Skin conditions. Diabetes may leave you more susceptible to skin problems, including bacterial and fungal infections.
  7. Hearing impairment. Hearing problems are more common in people with diabetes.
  8. Alzheimer's disease. Type 2 diabetes may increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease.

You can also take the package for Living with Diabetes.

The following are some of the basic must do's if you have diabetes. These can go a long way in preventing adverse diabetic side effects.

  1. Diet: Whether diabetic or not, it is always important to watch your diet. You are what you eat. Eat what your body needs, reduce refined foods, processed foods and increase the amount of whole grains and fruits and vegetables. Eating small frequent meals goes a long way in managing sugar levels than binging at one meal and starving the rest of the day. Reduce intake of saturated fats; include more lean meats. Choose grilling and steaming over frying and roasting. Diet is very important in diabetes. Recommended foods - Healthy carbohydrates, Fiber-rich foods, Heart-healthy fish and Good fats. Foods to avoid - Saturated fats, Trans fats, Cholesterol and Sodium
  2. Exercise: Every week, make sure about 2 hours is dedicated to physical activity. This could include any exercise of your choice, brisk walking, swimming, cycling, aerobics, hiking, jogging, skipping, gymnastics, or playing games like football or basketball. While in most cases, the person can do these on their own, in some people, supervision may be required.
  3. Watch your weight: For a diabetic person, controlling weight to a desirable level of BMI of 18 and 23 is very important. Obesity is one of the predisposing factors for diabetes, and reducing weight controls the onset of diabetes and helps the progression of symptoms in diabetics.
  4. Smoking: Another risk factor for diabetes onset, quitting is the best option. If not feasible, reducing smoking and gradually quitting should be aimed at. Not just diabetes, the effects on overall health will be evident almost immediately after quitting.
  5. Stress management: One of the main risk factors for diabetes, there is no getting away from stress. Everybody has their stresses but the trick is to manage it well. Whether it is music or meditation or medication or counselling, make sure stress levels are managed. This also helps prevent diabetic complications like heart disease and stroke and promotes well-being.
  6. Constant Checkups: Periodic check-up of blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels, eye exam, dental checkup, foot checkup to test for nerve damage are all extremely important. Take your medications regularly without fail.

Diabetes requires a change in lifestyle, which may seem tedious initially. But after a while, it will become the norm and then diabetic control does not feel like something additional that is to be done. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a specilized endocrinologist and ask a free question.

You have done a great job by stopping non-veg. Do not worry about stamina, keep the great work of vegetarian foods, try to stop eggs too, and you would feel healthy with vegetarian food.

Do not use extra salt in your food as higher values of sodium (from salt) than the recommended daily value can lead to hair loss. Also, always use iodized salt. Iodine is an important nutrient for hair growth. Sea food is also a good and natural source of iodine.

lybrate-user, Your fasting & PP glucose levels are very high, need to be brought down to wards normal. You need to initiate appropriate treatment. Ideall on treat, ment fasting should be closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg, HbA1c%<6.8. If blood glucose is not well controlled all the long term complications associated with diabetes are likely to occur much earlier. As regards low hemoglobin you consume more of green leafy vegetables and some dates daily. Also take any iron (ferrous sulfate or fumerate containing tablets). Thanks.

Possibly she is frustrated, irritated, stressed and angry about some aspects of her life. She needs a one to one open talk with an expert who can understand her. A Psychotherapist and guide her. General doctors may not be able to help. She may not need medicines, only care, empathy and compassion. I feel she is taking too much pressure of her studies and her self expectations are too high. Be quick and connect either online or in person.

My LMP is Jan-27, 2016 and my periods has been skipped. I checked with the home urine test and also HCG test. Both came to be positive. Hence consulted with the gynic. She had taken a scen and told me the growth seems to be only 35 days but as per the LMP it is 45 days. After 10 days she had asked to take another scan to check with the baby growth. And I had irregular periods for the last 3 months. My question is, should I have to take the scan for the baby growth? Also will there be any difference in the growth due to irregular periods. In this case should we have to consider the LMP or the scanned growth size? Please help and advice.

Congrats for positive pregnancy test in urine and blood, but your worry is ultrasound report that is just 10 days late! your cycle is irregular but I ask you can any woman tell about the time of conception (except wives whose husbands visit them on particular days, being away on job) may be it was conception that occurred on later half of cycle. Be sure about getting a positive report which may not match the chart of lmp. Bot you will make up later. You must have known about women delivering at 36 weeks or beyond 40 weeks. This is the reason, doctors presume both babies as mature and do not require any special care in nursery unit of hospital.
