Sleep Apnea - Complications It Can Cause!

A good night’s sleep is essential for your mental and physical health. Proper sleep means your body is adequately rejuvenated and is ready to face yet another day with efficiency. When your sleep cycle is disrupted, the entire body mechanism is disturbed. Thus, sleep apnea can turn bothersome if not treated.

What is sleep apnea?
Obstructive sleep apnea is a condition wherein there can be paused or shallow breathing while the person is asleep. At the time of sleeping, the muscles of the throat and tongue are more relaxed, and the tissues block the passage of air. It is most common in adults, and the primary reason behind it is excess weight and obesity. In the case of children, most common cause of this disorder is enlarged tonsils. Childhood obesity is another cause of this disorder in children.

Complications that could arise if the obstructive sleep apnea is not taken care of

  • Sleep apnea or snoring can disturb your sleep as well people sleeping around you. This disorder raises the chances of health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure. If someone is already suffering from high blood pressure, then sleep apnea can even make it worse.
  • When a person suffering from sleep apnea wakes up at night, his/her body gets stressed which makes the hormone system to go into overdrive which in turn increases the blood pressure of that person. Even the level of oxygen in the blood decreases when one cannot breathe well due to sleep apnea.
  • People suffering from sleep apnea are more likely to have heart attacks.
  • The most common cause for this is the low level of oxygen or the stress of waking up suddenly. A person who is suffering from obesity is more prone to sleep apnea which also makes it harder to slim down. When someone suffers from sleep apnea, that person can have fatty deposits in their neck which block breathing during the night. Also, sleep apnea releases more the hormone named Ghrelin which makes a person suffering from obesity to crave for sweets.
  • Sleep apnea is also a concern with some general anesthesia and certain medications. People suffering from sleep apnea are more prone to face problems or complications at the time of major surgery as they suffer from breathing problems especially when anesthesia is performed and they are laid on their back. It is imperative to consult with the doctor before a major surgery if one is suffering from obstructive sleep apnea.

Other health related problems

  • People suffering from sleep apnea are more likely to liver problems. This includes abnormal results on the liver function test, and their liver is most prone to show the signs of scarring. This disorder is also known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
  • Obstructive sleep apnea also results to excessive daytime sleepiness which also increases the risk factor for automobile accidents and can also lead to depression.
  • Sleep apnea can also lead to stroke, heart failure, gastroesophageal reflux disease and abnormal rhythm of the heart.
  • Sleep apnea is a common condition with mild to severe levels and can be progressive with age. Because of the complications that can arise due to this condition, it is crucial to get the condition treated as soon as the symptoms are observed.

Homeopath, Chennai
Epilepsy is a disorder in which nerve cells of the brain from time to time release abnormal electrical impulses. These cause a temporary malfunction of the other nerve cells of the brain, resulting in alteration of, or complete loss of consciousness. There are several forms of epilepsy. Most people will have seen someone suffer a major epileptic seizure, suddenly losing consciousness, jerking the arms and legs, etc. But there are other types of epilepsy – for example, one common form of epilepsy in children merely consists of staring blankly and losing contact with the surroundings for a few seconds. Homoeopathic constitutional treatment will give you remarkably good results since it acts by boosting the immune system or altering the susceptibility to normal thus curing permanently You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects.

Insomnia : Sleep Disorder

Homeopath, Bhilai
Insomnia : Sleep Disorder

What is insomnia?

Insomnia includes a wide range of sleeping disorders, from lack of sleep quality to lack of sleep quantity. Insomnia is commonly separated into three types:

  • Transient insomnia- occurs when symptoms last up to three nights.
  • Acute insomnia- also called short-term insomnia. Symptoms persist for several weeks.
  • Chronic insomnia- this type lasts for months, and sometimes years.

According to the national institutes of health, the majority of chronic insomnia cases are side effects resulting from another primary problem.

Insomnia can affect people of any age; it is more common in adult females than adult males. The sleeping disorder can undermine school and work performance, as well as contributing to obesity, anxietydepression, irritability, concentration problems, memory problems, poor immune system function, and reduced reaction time.

Insomnia has also been associated with a higher risk of developing chronic diseases. According to the national sleep foundation, 30-40 percent of american adults report that they have had symptoms of insomnia within the last 12 months, and 10-15 percent of adults claim to have chronic insomnia

Causes of insomnia

Insomnia can be caused by physical and psychological factors. There is sometimes an underlying medical condition that causes chronic insomnia, while transient insomnia may be due to a recent event or occurrence. Insomnia is commonly caused by:

Signs and symptoms of insomnia

Insomnia itself may be a symptom of an underlying medical condition. However, there are many signs and symptoms that are associated with insomnia:

Difficulty falling asleep at night. Waking during the night. Waking earlier than desired. Still feeling tired after a night's sleep. Daytime, fatigue or sleepiness. Irritability, depression, or anxiety. Poor concentration and focus. Being uncoordinated, an increase in errors or accidents. Tension headaches (feels like a tight band around head. Difficulty socializing. Gastrointestinal symptoms. Worrying about sleeping.

Sleep deprivation can cause other symptoms. The afflicted person may wake up not feeling fully awake and refreshed, and may have a sensation of tiredness and sleepiness throughout the day.

Having problems concentrating and focusing on tasks is common for people with insomnia. According to the national heart, lung, and blood institute, 20 percent of non-alcohol related car crash injuries are caused by driver sleepiness

Non-pharmacological approaches and home remedies for insomnia include:

  • Improving "sleep hygiene"- not sleeping too much or too little, exercising daily, not forcing sleep, maintaining a regular sleep schedule, avoiding caffeine at night, avoiding smoking, avoiding going to bed hungry, and ensuring a comfortable sleeping environment.
  • Using relaxation techniques- such as meditation and muscle relaxation.
  • Cognitive therapy- one-on-one counseling or group therapy.
  • Stimulus control therapy- only go to bed when sleepy. Avoid watching tv, reading, eating, or worrying in bed. Set an alarm for the same time every morning (even weekends) and avoid long daytime naps.
  • Sleep restriction- decrease the time spent in bed and partially deprive the body of sleep, this increases tiredness ready for the next night.

Medical treatments for insomnia include:

Prescription sleeping pills anti-depressants over-the-counter sleep

Who gets insomnia?

Some people are more likely to suffer from insomnia than others; these include:

Travelers - particularly through multiple time zones shift workers with frequent changes in shifts (day vs. Night) the elderlydrug users adolescent or young adult students pregnant women menopausal women those with mental health disorders.

Itching problem near anus and skin colour changed to black is this any disease r psoriasis explain me.
Itching may cause due to humidity in groin region and from using tight inner wears. This in turn changes the skin color to blackish due to skin thickening. Use loose and dry inner wears to avoid fungal infections further. You can use any anti-septic lotion for external washing too.
