I have a cough problem for more than a month. I had a medical treatment and tests also. Right now I'm having montair l. C. Tablets. But if I miss this tablet any day the problem increases. So is there any other treatment instead of having these tablets daily?

BAMS, MD Ayurveda
Sexologist, Lonavala
One of the simplest home remedies for a cough is to cut onions. Breathing in the strong vapors can help stop coughing. You can also make a cough syrup from baked onion juice, comfrey tea and honey. Drink it daily to get relief from a dry cough. Another option is to combine one-half teaspoon of onion juice with one teaspoon of pure honey. Swallow this solution at least twice a day to alleviate a cough and soothe your throat

High blood pressure can cause this type of symptoms. Also there are chances that your father has got some kind of sinus infection, lung infections like T.B. Or he may be suffering from GERD. Let him visit another reputed physician to rule our any major disease which can be treated at an early stage.

Hello, mantoux test is not worth doing now. Sputum for afb may not be positive always, for sputum test to be positive there should be at least 10 to the power 4 organisms to get detected. So we need to go along with ct scan. If you are from metropolitan city you can try to get gene expert test on sputum which is more sensitive than microscopy and gives result in 2 hrs. Other is sputum culture and sputum culture for tuberculosis. Sputum for gram stain we need to give antibiotics and see for response.

Dear at this pregnancy stage, one should avoid medication. However, you may take side effect free ayurvedic medicines. You may seek consultation in private.

I am having heavy cough problem from last Friday. It is not dry cough. There is no fever. But nose is wet & something coming out from my mouth when I cough! I think you understood the type of cough I am facing! Please suggest me some common antibiotics Or something to heal which are easily available in medical stores! Thank you!

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
General Physician, Ghaziabad
You may be suffering from seasonal influenza or some bacterial pneumonia. As serious atypical viral infections like swine flue have been common tbis year. You should get your self evaluated personally by a physician rather than taking any antibiotic staight away so that appropriate tests can be done and you may be prescribed antiviral if required. Swine flu also presents like any other viral infection.
