All About Sexual Performance Anxiety

Intercourse is meant to be a pleasurable and intimate experience. But it might become an unpleasant act if you are suffering from performance anxiety. When you are mentally occupied by questions such as "Do I look too fat?" or "Did I do that right?", sex stops being a gratifying experience.

Incessant anxiety over your ability or appearance can result in sex becoming nerve-wracking and stressful for you. It might even have you avoiding sex altogether. This psychological condition is termed as sexual performance anxiety.

Sex isn't only a physical reaction, there are emotions tied to it as well. If you are too stressed out and your mind is preoccupied, your body reflects your inner turmoil and you cannot get aroused.

Causes: The causes of sexual performance anxiety include:

  1. Fear that you wouldn't be able to satisfy your partner and perform well sexually
  2. Body image issues (Such as stressing about your weight)
  3. Problems in your relationship
  4. Men worry that their penis don't 'measure' up
  5. Men might be concerned about taking too much time to orgasm, or about premature ejaculation
  6. Women worry about not enjoying the experience or being unable to have an orgasm

Symptoms: Your mental state has a deep impact on your physical state. The effect of stress hormones norepinephrine and epinephrine can hinder your sexual performance. Symptoms of sexual performance anxiety include:

  1. In men, blood vessels constrict due to the effect of stress hormones. This leads to reduced blood flow to the penis, thus making it difficult for the man to get an erection.
  2. Often though it is less diagnosed in women, sexual performance anxiety leads to trouble in lubrication during sex. Lack of lubrication dims the desire to have sex.

Sexual performance anxiety is a vicious, inescapable cycle. Increased anxiety hampers you from having sex, making you think you won't be able to perform well, which causes even more anxiety.

Treatment: Consult a doctor you will be comfortable with discussing your problems. Sexual performance can be either treated by medication (if you have an underlying medical condition such as erectile dysfunction) or through therapy.

Talking to a therapist or counsellor about your problems can help you in several ways. You can learn to become more comfortable with yourself and your body. You can also understand your problems better, which can eliminate your anxiety.

If external application of ointment gives you relief then it may be a case of chest muscle strain. So there is no health risk. But you should be working towards reducing your cholesterol. At this age, high cholesterol can be harmful to the heart. Go for a ecg and a echo. Consult a physician to rule out any cardiac ailments.

It is normal to lose about 30-80 strands of hair in a day. The common reasons behind hair fall are lack of essential nutrients in the body, improper and unhealthy dietary habits, hormonal imbalance, certain medications, dandruff, alopecia and other scalp disorders, stress and tension etc. Natural oils such as coconut, olive, jojoba, almond etc. Can be used to massage the scalp for countering hair fall. All of them belong to sweet fruit category. and have free sugar . If all your parameters of sugar level are normal you may have any one of them above except Mango and Jackfruit in small quantity when you are on relatively empty stomach like at 11 AM and 5 PM under supervision of your treating doctor. Not with principal meal. However apple or orange are preferred.

Hello, this may be a gastric pain so follow these home remedies:- 1. Ginger -- cut one medium-size fresh ginger root into thin slices. Bring one cup of water to a boil and add the ginger slices. Boil for three minutes, and then simmer for another five minutes. Remove from heat, strain, and add honey to taste. Sip it slowly. Drink ginger tea two or three times a day to ease stomach ache and improve digestion. 2. Asfoetida:- simply add a pinch of asafetida to a glass of warm water, mix it well and drink it two or three times a day. You can also add a pinch of rock salt. This remedy is equally effective for both a stomach ache and gas.

Best Exercises for Knee Pain Relief in Osteoarthritis

The quadriceps (or quads) describe the four muscles located on the front of the thigh. They contract together to help flex (or lift up) the hip and extend (or straighten) the knee. The quads often become weak after injury is sustained or surgery is performed on the lower leg or thigh. For this reason, it is important to learn how to strengthen this muscle group for a complete recovery.

People with certain conditions often exhibit quadriceps weakness. These conditions may include:

  • Patellofemoral stress syndrome
  • Iliotibial band friction syndrome
  • Patellar tendonitis or tendinosis

Typically, a specific area of your quad called the vastus medialis obliqus (VMO) may be weak or inhibited from contracting properly in these conditions. Your PT can show you how to perform these quad exercises with a special focus on the VMO for maximal effect.

Some quad strengthening exercises place significant stress on your knee joint. Your physical therapist can show you ways to minimize joint stress while still strengthening your quadriceps. Be sure to check in with your doctor before starting these - or any other - exercises.

Reveiw these exercises for quad strengthening and get started on the road to stronger thighs.

2 Straight Leg Raises

 Place a cuff weight around your ankle to add full resistance to your straight leg raising exercise.

The straight leg raising (SLR) exercise is a simple way to get your quad muscles working properly. Here is how the SLR is done.

  • Lie on your back on a flat surface.
  • Bend the knee of your uninvolved leg (the one that wasn't operated on) to a 90-degree angle, and keep your foot flat on the surface. Keep your involved leg straight without the knee bent.
  • Slowly lift the involved leg 12 inches off the floor (by contracting the front thigh muscles). Hold for five seconds.
  • Slowly lower your leg to the floor. Relax and repeat 10 to 15 times.

The knee of the raised leg should remain straight throughout this exercise. Focus on lifting by using the muscles on the front of your hip joint. This exercise can be made more challenging by placing a 2 or 3 pound cuff weight on your ankle before you lift.

3 Short Arc Quads

The short arc quad (SAQ) exercise is a great way to really focus in on properly contracting your quadriceps muscles. Here is how you do it:

  • Lie on your back and use a small coffee can (or paper towel roll) to prop your knee up.
  • Slowly straighten your bent knee until it is all the way straight.
  • Tighten your quad muscle and hold it tight for 5 seconds.
  • Slowly lower your leg down.
  • Repeat for 15 repetitions.

4 Wall Slides

  • Stand upright with your back against a wall and feet shoulder-width apart.
  • Slowly bend your knees, sliding your back down the wall for a count of five until your knees are bent at a 45-degree angle. (Do not bend too much further than this, as it will cause increased strain on your knees.) Hold this position for 5 seconds.
  • Straightening your knees by slowly sliding up the wall until you are fully upright with knees straight.
  • Repeat the above steps 10 more times.

5 Terminal Knee Extension

Terminal knee extension (TKE) is a simple, yet effective, way to strengthen your quads in a standing position. The TKE is considered a functional exercise, as you quads will be working while supporting your body weight.

To perform the terminal knee extension exercise, you must first obtain a resistance band, like a Theraband, from your physical therapist. Once you have a band, you should be ready to start the exercise. Here's how you do it:

  • Tie your resistance band around a stable object so it is anchored around the height of your knee. (The leg of a table is a good place.)
  • Step into the loop with the leg you wish to exercise.
  • Face the anchor point with the resistance band looped around your knee and your knee slightly bent.
  • Slowly straighten your knee, placing tension on the band. The resistance band should provide some resistance as your try to fully straighten your knee.
  • Once your knee is straight and the band has tension on it, hold the position for 3 seconds.
  • Slowly allow your knee to bend slightly once again.
  • Repeat the exercise for 15 repetitions.

1. Go for regular brisk walk for 30 minutes daily 2. Reduce weight if overweight 3control diet a) avoid sweets, sugar/honey, milk, milk product excess calorie and carbohydrate rich diet like white bread, cereal, rice, pasta b) avoid all refined food like maida, pasta, starchy food like rice, potato, bakery item, processed food, c) include more fiber like pulse, green leafy vegetable, cucumber, carrot, tomato, j legume. D) avoid sweetened fruit like banana, mango, litchi, chickoo, sapota, seethaphal jack fruit, grape etc. Can have fruits like guava, pineapple, papaya, orange, mousambi, strawberry, watermelon, pomegranate, jack fruit, sweet potato, a handful of walnut daily (akhrot) e) avoid white/polished rice, take unpolished rice like brown rice/wheat/jowar/ragi, moong and chana dal. F) avoid ghee/ butter./coconut oil/excess salt intake like papad/pickle. G) avoid red meat. Take fish/chicken. H) avoid alcohol and carbonated drinks like soft drink 4. Adhere to a strict diabetic diet by consulting dietitian 5. Monitor your fasting, pp blood sugar 3 monthly and hba1c six monthly 6. Consult diabetologist for advice and treatment.

Hi, Please go for a detailed blood investigation like CBC, Widal test, MP, Montaux and routine urine examination and then revert back with the reports. Till then keep recording your temparature. If it is too high, do tepid sponging. Wear loose cotton garments. Drink plenty of fluids. Consume light and easily digestable food. Continue to take tab. Sudershana Vati 1-1-1 till the fever subsides. Drink only boiled and cooled water. Take tab. Shankha vati 1 tab 3 times a day for stomach pain.
