I have gerd gastro esophageal reflux disease from 2 years Is it advisable to go for fundoplication surgery.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Nashik
Hello lybrate-user, The answer to your question is yes you can opt for surgery, if you are having no or very little effect of antacids. In today's era surgery for gerd is on a very small scale. If conventional medicines or treatment do not provide you relief then only I would suggest you to opt for surgery. Also your weight is on a upper side. 105 kg if I am right. Once operated you will get relieved of the symptoms which can lead to more weight gain if diet is. Not controlled as at present due to gerd you might be on a limited diet consisting of limited options. Once operated you will b free of symptoms hence unrestricted diet can lead to. Weight gain. So kindly consider all such things and take your own decision. But to be fair, surgery is easily possible in. Your case. I hope you take the right decision and get well soon Tk care.

It is a persistant fistula in ano. So the treatment failure most likely. If still persistant seek consultation we may need to do endorectal usg or mri and redo it. If not it will persist forever. Also need to do a sigmoidiscopy to rule out crohns disease.

Modify your life style to reduce stress, reduce intake of coffee and tea, stop smoking and alcohol. Take Tab Pantocid regularly once a day for 15 days. If it still does not go away get an upper G I Endoscopy done. Weight can be reduced by a regular exercise (walking for an hour every day) and cutting down on sugar, carbohydrates, like cereals and potatoes and increase in salads and fruits.

Causes and Symptoms of Pancreatitis

MBBS, MS-General Surgery , FMAS, FIAGES
General Surgeon, Gurgaon
Causes and Symptoms of Pancreatitis

An inflammation of the pancreas is known as pancreatitis. The pancreas is an organ that produces digestive enzymes. Pancreatitis might start any day and continue for long period and it requires immediate medical attention. It is of two types- acute pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis. Although the treatment usually requires hospitalization, pancreatitis can be easily stabilized and the underlying cause can be treated thereafter.

Causes:
Pancreatitis may be caused due to various reasons:

  1. Gall bladder stone: The pancreatic duct lies next to the bile duct. The gallstones enter the small intestine after passing through the common bile duct. Often the stones that remain in the common bile duct have a negative effect on the pancreas, which causes a hindrance to the normal flow of the pancreatic fluids, causing pancreatitis. Also a back flow of the bile into the pancreas can cause pancreatitis.
  2. Alcohol: Long time alcohol use also causes pancreatitis. Alcohol can damage the pancreas tremendously causing it to get inflamed.
  3. Other causes: Hereditary disorders in the pancreas, cystic fibrosis, high level of triglycerides, and a few medicines may also cause pancreatitis.

Symptoms:

  1. The first symptom of pancreatitis is abdominal pain: The pain may be sudden or gradually increasing, but is usually aggravated after eating. It is severe and constant, and may continue for a few days. If you are suffering from pancreatitis, you will feel very sick after a sudden attack and you might require medical assistance immediately.
  2. Swollen abdomen: Pancreatitis may cause your abdominal area to swell up and become tender.
  3. Nausea: If your abdomen suddenly starts paining due to the onset of pancreatitis, you tend to feel extremely nauseous. You might end up vomiting and may also have violent heaves.
  4. Fever: The inflammation will cause you to run a temperature, along with a searing pain in your stomach, which will make you feel extremely uncomfortable.
  5. Rapid pulse: Pancreatitis affects the rate, at which the heart beats, causing a rapid increase in the pulse rate.

I am 34 year old I'm having stomach problem from 2 year now my ogd scopy done and I find mild antral gastritis and all things normal I am feeling so stressful I am having a medicine essmo 40 but still r not feeling well what I do now.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Chitiradurga
Dear lybrate-user, I am very much concerned about your issue. Antral gastritis is very common in present days situation due to consumption of junk food, untimely food, etc. As a sincere ayurveda follower and practitioner, I would recommend you following: 1) wake up early, sleep early. 2) do not take more of spicy, salted items. 3) gap between 2 foods should not be more than 4 hours. 4) take ample amount of liquid. 5) avoid fruits having pungent taste. 6) take milk twice a day. 7) gap between dinner and sleep should be minimum 90 minutes. 8) do not get stressful. You need medicines for time being till you get physically well. For the prescription, I need to ask certain other questions. Do chat with me privately for more accurate prescription and other diet issues.
