Dealing With Anxiety Disorders in Youngsters

In today's fast paced world, the number of cases of teenagers with serious mental health problems like anxiety disorders have quadrupled. An anxiety disorder affects the thinking, feelings as well as the behaviour of a young person. It is important to seek professional help if one sees any of the warning signs of anxiety disorder in a youngster. Most of the normal anxiety issues are short lived and the feelings may last for few hours. However, an anxiety problem becomes an anxiety disorder when anxious feelings are very intense, severe and last for weeks or months. They start interfering in a youngster's ability to socialise, learn and daily activities.

Let's talk specific:

1. Aviophobia: Fear of flying, also known as aviophobia, is an anxiety disorder classified as a situational Specific Phobia. The person with fear of flying, heights has a continuing and excessive fear triggered by flying or the thought of flying or heights. Typically, flying is avoided or endured with intense anxiety, which may take the form of a panic attack.

2. Claustrophobia: Claustrophobia is a fear of being in an enclosed space. Thus, being trapped in a lift scare those who have such phobia. Also, travelling through a tunnel or metro makes people anxious if you have claustrophobia. A person suffering can often feel distressed just with the thought of being in a bus, train or plane. Usually any small, enclosed space would trigger a panic attack, especially if you felt trapped.

The problem with this way of thinking is it spreads to other places. Subways, lifts, small rooms are the classic scenario, but the intense fear of the person  is not restricted just to these places. The fear and the panic can be experienced in any place where the person perceives a confinement, closeness or trapped feeling.

If anxiety disorder in a youngster is ignored and left untreated, it can have long-term consequences on the mental health and can hamper development. The first step is to talk with the youngster and others who might be able to help like a general practitioner, school counsellor, family members or other parents. Identification of a teenage anxiety problem is difficult as youngsters are good at hiding their feelings and thoughts. They are able to mask those feelings with aggressive behaviour or withdrawal.

Young people might be diagnosed with more than one type of anxiety disorder. Social phobia or social anxiety disorder occurs when one develops an intense fear of being judged or embarrassed in public. Excessive worry about everyday situations is called as generalised anxiety disorder. Panic disorder is repeated, unexpected panic attacks where one encounters panic in a situation where most people wouldn't be afraid. Excessive fear of being separated from home or a loved one is separation anxiety disorder.

There are many things that one can do to support the youngster mentally and reduce the risk. 

Strong family support and relationships have shown to help protect youngsters from anxiety disorders. Seeking professional help early for the youngster is the best thing one can do when symptoms are seen or the youngster is experiencing severe anxious feelings which are interfering with his normal activities.

One must not ignore or dismiss youngster's fears.

Encourage him gently to do things that make him anxious, but do not push him to situations that he does not want to face. Also, praise him for doing things he's anxious about. Refer the youngster as brave and not anxious or shy. Set up a role model for him by managing your own stress and anxiety. A professional help for an anxiety disorder is vital for youngster's healthy development. Psychological treatment concentrates on strategies to help youngsters cope up with anxiety. Anti-depressants drugs are used to reduce the symptoms of anxiety disorders. One should also stop or reduce consumption of caffeine products such as coffee, tea, cola, energy drinks and chocolate.

Regular and correct food timings and selective eating habit are basic requirement to controll gerd. Emotional stress also triggers gastric upset.

Chances of pregnancy are always higher when you have unprotected sex wait for your next period in july and if it overshoots your last date then go in for urine test for pregnancy.

Hello Sir, I am very weak I need a power full body but how to make it please solve it.

Dear, you can get a healthy muscular body by following methods: - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly for proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Follow the diet chart in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid smoking & alcohol drinkg completely. 6. You can try protein powders like milk powder, soya protein for weight gain by taking 1 tea spoon added in milk once a day. I assure you that you definitely gain weight fastly by following them. Follow the following tips:- · Pay attention to your health and food intake. · To increase your appetite, have a glass of lime water or 1 cardamom (elaichi) before your meal.  · Have minimum 4 meals in a day. · Drink 1 glass of milk twice a day. · Try to enjoy your meals and gradually increase the quantity you eat every time. · A balance diet should have all essential nutrients in it. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It should include combination of Both Carbohydrates and Proteins for e. G. Oats with Milk or Poha/ Upma with a glass of milk. If you do not like milk have 1-2 egg whites in the morning along with your breakfast. · You need to focus on your protein intake: Increase your protein intake e. G. Milk, dairy products- cheese, paneer, lentils (dals), nuts (soya, peanuts, dry fruits), pulses e. G. Rajma, chole, kidney beans etc. Sprouts. If you are a non-vegetarian, then you can have proteins by also eating eggs, chicken, fish. Make sure you are including at least 2 serving of any of these in your daily meal. · Lunch and dinner again should be a combination of Proteins, Carbohydrates and Fats which could have dal, roti, sabji/chicken, salad.  · Please do have minimum 4 almonds or a small bowl of peanuts every day. · Please ensure that you drink at least 3 litres of water every day.

Give sualin tabs 2-3 per day. Avoid sugars and sweets tab cofsils green tea with tulsi elaichi. Tea gargles.

Hello, please get her evaluated for PCOD, hypothyroidism or hyperprolactinemia which can be other common causes of delayed menses after pregnancy has been ruled out. The tests are expensive as they involve fsh, lh, chess, 17ohp, thyroid profile, serum testosterone, estradiol levels, serum prolactin, serum fasting insulin levels.

Being on anti-depressant medication can cause erectile dysfunction as a side effect in some cases. It is very important you talk to your doctor or psychiatrist and explain to him if you feel the loss of or weak erection after you start your medicines so that he make the required changes to your prescription. (as a side note, you should never self-medicate or change your medication, always consult with your doctor and take his advice.)

High cholesterol can also lead to ed. (as a side note: just taking medication to keep it under check is not enough, you should also exercise and improve your diet as well especially if you lead a sedentary lifestyle. Eat healthy and avoid junk as much as possible. If your erection problems still persist then you should get in touch with a qualified sexologist to get further guidance on how to overcome your problem.

Nightfall is something that usually does not require treatment. It is the overflow of semen and should not be a cause for concern. The sticky pre-cum that is secreted from the penis when one is sexually aroused (while talking or watching erotica) is also a natural occurrence in both men and women, it should also not bother you.

Hi your height can grow till 25 year take following remedies 1. Flax seed powder 1 tsp after lunch and dinner with warm water 2. Lakshadi guggul 2 tab twice a day 3. Ashwgandha churna 1 tsp with milk at 6.30 pm exercise 1. Swimming 2. Skiping 3. Pull-ups 4. Suryanamaskar.

you should be avoid bad habits . Avoid stress. Some Relax during work. Drink more water, high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. You can take Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, avoid oily foods,junk foods, go for walk. No medical/scientific study has indicated that masturbation leads to ill-health or weakness in the body. All in all it's a myth that masturbation is bad for health. Diabetes also has nothing to do with it.
