If the pain is less than 2 weeks you may try with some ice packs and simple quadriceps toning and hamstring stretches. If the pain persist more than 2 days do you can meet a near by physio. What are the symptoms of thyroid? My mom is getting burning sensation under the feet. Her sugar level is 157. It was tested after 2 hours having a meal. Her age is 43 years. She had undergone for hysterectomy 3 months back. From then she is getting sudden sweating for few minutes and then this burning sensation started. What could be the reason? Please help me.

I am 6.2 feet tall, Gym free, but from some days by back is aching. I alsk used the back support belt still no relief. Tried some google and found some exercises little bit relieved but not fully recovered. What should I do next. Bed rest or some physiotherapy.

What would help you may be a course of 10 days of physio in a clinic. You take. Will relieve your pain. Then slowlyand ift or ust. That will first reduce your pain and then start on exercises. Exercises have to be taught bu the physio. So tht yo the right you do it the right way. As of now start a hot water fermentation for our back. The pain will reduc slowly.

Advice…. Hot Fomentation x twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction. Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x twice daily. Bhujang Asana x twice daily. Back Stretching. Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting. Quadriceps Exercises. Hams Stretching. Sports Taping. Hot Fomentation.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. You have mentioned back pain since 2 weeks only and you are also very young. Can you tell me whether you have only localized back pain, or is there any radiating pain in the legs as well, any other symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc also there? what was the cause of onset of your pain? if you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medications which suits you, please also add a muscle relaxant for 5-7 days - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home, initial focus only on pain relief, and strengthening exercises can be initiated once pain relief has occurred - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol.

Knee Pain: As arthritis is very common that you get generally bilaterally. Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. You can take Ultrasonic therapy in one of the nearby physiotherapy clinics which would help to heal the damaged cartilages along with shortwave diathermy which would help to improve the blood circulation. Simple Knee Exercies Specific knee exercises will also help ie. Keeping ball underneath the knee and keep pressing it. That's the simple exercise which will help you to strengthen the knee Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times

I'm 34 years old male. I have been having lower backache for two weeks now. It just came suddenly. I used to carry water everyday. I felt tingling in my right leg also below the knee. I have consulted a Dr. Also. He did x-ray and gave some medications. He told x-ray is normal and its just muscle strain. But the pain still there now though not that much painful. Is it really just muscle strain or slipped disc?

One of the main causes of foot pain is wearing shoes that do not fit properly. You can also develop foot pain if you are injured during high-impact exercise or sport activities, such as jogging or intense aerobics. There are a few general tips that can help relieve your discomfort. These include: 1.applying ice to the affected area 2.taking a pain reliever medicine 3.using foot pads to prevent rubbing on the affected area 3.keeping the foot that is causing you pain elevated 4.resting your foot as much as possible You can take many measures to help prevent ongoing foot pain. For example: 1.choose comfortable, roomy, and well-cushioned shoes 2.avoid shoes with large heels and narrow toe areas 3.maintain a healthy weight 4.stretch before engaging in vigorous exercise 5.practice good foot hygiene 6.always wear some type of footwear when outdoors to protect your feet. Also follow Dr Sonia Sharma's advice on exercises that she has given. Best wishes

My both the legs swelling regularly. The portion below the knee. Both the foot is normal. Why it is happening? I am regularly doing exercise and run for around 3.5 k.m to 4 k.m daily. After that I am travelling by bus for around 2 hours to reach my office in the morning and returning by bus in the evening too.

Mr. lybrate-user Das, Thanks for the query. Swelling of legs can occur in a number of situations like increased BP, taking certain drugs, presence of hypothyroidism, cardiac related problems, being over weight or even with certain drugs So it is difficult to answer why that problem is persistent. There is no mention about presence of any of the ailments. There is a need for doing some investigations then only one can come to the conclusion. Thanks.

My wife, aged 45 years, is suffering from osteoarthritis and is having acute pain on the right leg now. She had this problem initially on her left leg since the delivery of her second child and has been diagnosed as the above condition and was under medication (both ayurvedic and allopathic) for a few months till the pain got subsided. As this problem persists, we have already consulted with an orthopedic about the nagging pain and he has suggested a knee replacement surgery based on the x-ray images taken recently. We request an opinion from you on the alternative ways available (for instance, ayurvedic).

At 45 years it is unlikely that the cause of your wife problem is osteoarthritis. Her diagnosis needs to be confirmed by a proper evaluation by a rheumatologist. Please meet a good rheumatologist before going in for ant surgery. This is because in case her problem is due to some other disease other than osteoarthritis then she is likely to have problems in the knee again EVEN after surgery.

Maintain your spine straight on any position that is very important. Stretch it your thigh muscles and spine muscles. With the help of your Physio do cross stretches of lower limb muscles. In between go for hot water fermentation for your spine.
