Please help with the requisite diet for a women approaching her 40's, specially for good bone health.
40s is time for periods to become less and stop eventually, menopause, this time is called perimenopasal time, means a few years before and after menopause, women do have tendency to put on weight but bones become hollow, eat a high protein, high calcium diet like toned milk and curds and boiled eggs plus assorted nuts everyday to give you good fats plus proteins, eat only a spoon of desi ghee or butter, carbs minimum. More of seasonal fruits and vegetables and eat according to constitution. Do some exercises like simple walks and remain busy with fruitful activities without getting exhausted.

Hello Dear,Periods occur when the egg formed during each menstrual cycle in the female body is not fertilized and hence ejected out of the reproductive system along with blood and several other tissue cells. The duration of each menstrual cycle is about 28 days Most women will experience their monthly period right from the time they are 13 to the time they are 50. For many women, their monthly period is nothing more than an annoyance; but other women may suffer some problems. Visit us at www.Malhotraayurveda.Com

Can anyone tell me, after how many days should I do sex to get pregnant, and how many times should I do?
Dear Lybrate user For pregnancy you should count 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th day from the 1st day of menstrual cycle. And do sex in this 4 days. There are more chances of pregnancy because this is the ovulation period in female.

My wife's mc is not regular, and when it come the heavy pain. What should she do?
Iregular periods- Control weight. check hormonal status after consulting gynecologist and take drugs, if needed. For pain- most cases of such pain subside with treatment. We need to know the cause. Please go for a check up by gynecologist to diagnose the cause and get that cause treated.

Most pregnancy tests will be positive by the time a woman has missed her period. Other early signs of pregnancy include fatigue, feeling bloated, frequent urination, mood swings, nausea, and tender or swollen breasts. Not all women have all of these symptoms, but it is common to have at least one of them.

Please suggest medication to postpone periods, along with the procedure to take medicine. Also, is it safe to take medicine to delay june cycle and going for an ivf treatment in june cycle.

Hello doctor. I am 20 years old and weigh approximately 73 kgs. I want to reduce my weight to 50 KGS. please could you help me with a diet chart. And suggest me whether taking medicines for weight loss is harmful to the normal working of the body.

Hello doctor. I am 20 years old and weigh approximately 73 kgs. I want to reduce my weight to 50 KGS. please could yo...
Yes taking medicines for weight loss are harmful and so are some of the diet supplements. At 20 your target should be to reduce weight @5 kg per month. You will see sudden loss in first month, may be less in next month, don't get discouraged, after 3rd moth weight loss will be rapid and stable. Do join a gym and take help from a qualified instructor, eat everything healthy but no charts, because being conscious of weight loss will not help you, make it a habit to eat a list of items and to avoid other list of not to eat. Cut down on fats to bare minimum but do take healthy fats like a spoon of honey added to lemon juice and warm water, every morning on empty stomach plus eat a spoon of desi ghee or butter and a katori of assorted nuts everyday. Eat lots of seasonal vegetables and fruits plus eating according to constitution. Take one meal of daal roti chawal but no in between beinging. Do weigh yourself only once a week and don't be obsessed with body.

STD Testing - 5 Reasons Why You Should Never Delay It

MBBS, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
STD Testing - 5 Reasons Why You Should Never Delay It

STD or sexually transmitted disease is usually an infection which spreads from one person to another during sexual contact. Some STDs can also be transferred through touch, since they spread by skin contact. People hardly like to talk or discuss STDs, but it is very important to rule out the possibilities of STD. Whether one likes it or not, if STD testing is ignored, then it can lead to long term consequences.

Why STD Testing is Important?
Often STDs have no signs and symptoms, and the only way to know that are you suffering from a STD is to get tested for it. So it is a good idea to get yourself tested, as you never know if you might have a STD even though you don't show symptoms. Also, when STDs are diagnosed, most of them can be cured.

Consequences of Not Getting Tested
If one has STD and is not getting tested for the same, then it could lead to health problems which can cause permanent damages or might prove to be fatal. Some of the problems are:

  1. Undiagnosed and untreated STDs can lead to damaged reproductive system leading to sterile men and women.
  2. Chlamydia, if untreated can lead to epididymitis and shrinkage of testicles and infertility in men. It also leads to pelvic inflammatory disease. But good news is, it can be treated easily.
  3. Syphillis can make a person blind and deaf, and can also be passed on to babies.
  4. Gonorrhea which can also be treated easily with antibiotics, can lead to infertility or death if untreated.
  5. Even HIV/AIDS if diagnosed in early stages, can enable the patient to lead a normal life and does not mean only death, contrary to conventional perceptions.

Symptoms of STD
While, gonorrhea, chlamydia and human papilloma virus ((HPV)) have no symptoms, the common symptoms of STDs might vary.

  1. Women, the common symptoms are pain and burning sensation during urination, bloody and abnormal vaginal discharge, abdominal pain, blisters, warts, and swollen glands.
  2. Men often experience inflammation of the testicles, prostate, sores, fever, urethral discharge and pain during urination.

If these symptoms are observed, it is vital to get tested for STDs. Also, the best way to protect your partner is not to practice unsafe sex and to refrain from the same until diagnosed and treatment is complete. Getting yourself tested for STD is also beneficial, as it can prevent complications like cancers and infertility.

The standard STD panel of tests consists of Herpes IgG antibody and HIV antibody blood tests, along with a blood test for syphilis antibody and DNA urine test for gonorrhea and Chlamydia. For more information, make an appointment with us. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

Hi, Doctor told us our baby is little small plus the heart beat is little slow. My wife is just only 2 months pregnant. Will this be fine after proper treatment and medication.

Hi, Doctor told us our baby is little small plus the heart beat is little slow. My wife is just only 2 months pregnan...
Fetal bradycardia refers to an abnormally low fetal heart rate, a potentially ominous finding. A sustained first trimester heart rate below 100 beats per minute (bpm) is generally considered bradycardic. You need to get a fetal echocardiography done to find out the reason and treatment depends upon the same.
