My eye is not in equal balance. A minor problem in left eye, any eye operation for this ?

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS

What do you mean by balance. Are you saying that they are in different directions? if so that means you have squint. Some forms of squint are correctable with surgery.

Get your refraction done and wear spectacles eat green veggies. Carrots. Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. Work under adequately illuminated conditions. If needed wear corrective spectacles. These r few things you can take care of. Otherwise as such no options available which wd increases your eyesight.

Namaste dear doc, I need some advice about the recent ailment attacked to my mamma i.e. Glaucoma to the right eye. Doc has prescribed eye drops for the same, saying the eye pressure is high. I would like to know how to cure this ailment besides drops. Kindly suggest the best cure and tips to overcome. Am very much distressed since I have heard about it. Thank you.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS

Hello Glaucoma is a chronic progressive disease. There is no cure but yes, treatment is available first line of treatment is eyedrops. surgery is last resort...surgery will not cure glaucoma but it only decreases dependency on eyedrops. Please fell free to ask more queries and more clarification

Is there any treatment for night blindness which has come by heridetily or genetic if yes kindly guide me.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Night blindness is due to a disorder of the cells in the retina that are responsible for vision in dim light. It has many causes, including: • Short-sightedness • Glaucoma medications that work by constricting the pupil • Cataracts • Retinitis pigmentosa • Vitamin A deficiency How is night blindness treated? Treatment for night blindness will depend upon its cause. Treatment may be as simple as a new prescription for your glasses or switching glaucoma medications, or it may require surgery in cases of cataracts Dietary Management For Night Blindness Vitamins A, C and E are potent antioxidants which slow down age related macular degeneration and help maintain healthy tissues and cells in the eyes. Vitamins C and E may also inhibit the development or progression of cataracts. Lutein and zeaxanthin are two antioxidants called carotenoids, which help in neutralizing free radicals and maintaining eye health. Sources of Vitamin A: Yellow-orange fruits and vegetables such as carrots, mango, papaya, pumpkin, dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, eggs, milk and milk products. Vitamin A can be stored in your body, so you can opt for your favorite seasonal foods! Sources of Vitamin C: Citrus fruits such as oranges, tangerines and grapefruit, peppers, tomatoes, kiwis, gooseberries, strawberries and Brussels sprouts. Sources of Vitamin E: Nuts like almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, fortified oils, seeds, eggs, milk and dairy. Sources of Lutein: Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, broccoli and chard, yellow peppers, mango and bilberries. Sources of Zeaxanthin: Oranges, tangerines, eggs, spinach, dark green lettuce, corn, broccoli and orange sweet peppers. For maximizing the benefits of the above vegetables, it is best to have then lightly cooked rather than raw. Cooking or steaming breaks down the cells, making it simpler for the body to absorb these nutrients from the foods. Aim to eat at least 2 to 4 servings or more of these foods every day to ensure that you are getting enough of these 5 powerful nutrients.

Age 47 female having swelling in eyes for months. Eye doctor have medicine after stopping medicine again scales and swelling of upper part of eye had taken place. What to do had blepharitis before.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your trouble. Proper eye hygiene is the key for you. In addition to the medication given to you, keep your eyes clean by washing daily 4 to 5 times with clean hands and clean water. Wash gently. Do not rub your eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth material, etc. In case you need to wipe your eyes, use disposable paper napkin (if possible). Also, another suggestion is regarding hot water fomentation. Use a sterile cotton and dip it into lukewarm water and gently massage your eyes. Do this 2 times in a day if possible. Another suggestion-while bathing, use johnson baby shampoo to apply on your eyelids and allow it to remain there for 2 minutes. After, this wash it off. This will result in debulking of debris that has accumulated throughout the night. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you.

When I'm using the computer after 30 minutes my eyes have to burning. What is doing me.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
The solution for this problem is its reduced usage and while using computor use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

According tome your Eye pain has a nervous origin and gets triggereed by strong external impressions like Strong lights and internal factors like pains in the organs lying in the vicinity of eyes such as Tooth pain as the same nerve gets irritated that supplies your R.Eye. Homoeopathic medicine R-70 DROPS ( DR Reckeweg) Drink 15 drops in20 ml fresh water 3 times daily for 30 days.

I am 30 years old. 8 years ago I was disorganized with CRVO disorder. Due to small town and non availability of good doctors, I was told to leave the condition as it is and keep a check over the swelling occurred due to it. After 3 years I consult some other doctor in Pune where he told me I have swelling in my right eye as well. He prescribed few medicines but after few years my right eye vision became blur. I consulted few other doctors in Jaipur who prescribed steroid (prednisolone) to control the inner inflammation. Using steroid was a temporary solution but it helped developing cataract in my right eye. Now doctor says my left eye actual had CRAO instead of CRVO and it cannot be cured and as far as my right eye is concerned it has chronic uveitis along with cataract. Doctor has again prescribed steroid to settle uveitis post which a cataract surgery will be performed. Doctors are not giving a specific time for the surgery and I am facing challenges to perform my day to day activities. Can somebody please review and help me.

DNB Ophtalmology, MS - Ophthalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Vessel occlusion- CRVO or CRAO can be secondary to inflammation like uveitis. In cases of Uveitis immunosuppresants- steroids or steroid sparing ones are given to suppress the inflammation. The dosage n duration depends upon disease activity. Sometimes a maintenance dose is required for years. Also, you should have undergone a series of blood and radiological investigations to try and detect any systemic disease. Uveitis is an inflammation of eye frequently but not always associated with disease involving multiple organs of the body. One of the prerequisites for operating an eye with history of uveitis is to ensure no episode of active inflammation predlferably for 6 months or at least 3 months. And to operate under steroids cover. This is important as any intravascular surgery induces inflammation 8n the eye and in patients with history of uveitis it can be sight threatening. By what you have described. Your treatment seems to be online. Please contact if you need further clarifications.

I am suffering from myopia shud I go for the lens or can I go for a permanent solution DAT s operation, which is safe?

FPRS, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Pune
unfortunately there are no natural medications to remove spectacles permanently. you can either try contact lenses or plan for refractive lasik laser surgery Lasik is a simple laser procedure which changes the shape of the cornea so that the light rays fall on the retina properly. It is a painless procedure. It is a day care procedure does not require any injections, does not require admission, you can simply resume your duties in 2 days. Cost varies from centre to centre. Side effects are usually limited to dryness of eyes for few months. We can do lasik anytime after age of 18 years. You need to undergo proper prelasik checkup to decide whether lasik is safe for you or not

Hello. Eye redness is most often due to swollen or dilated blood vessels. This makes the surface of the eye look red. There are many causes of a red eye or eyes like infection, allergy. Foreign body in eyes. Some are medical emergencies and some are a cause for concern, but not an emergency. Others are nothing to worry about.
