Dear Lybrateuser, - At your age pain could be due to acidity or anxiety - do not skip meals, have meals on time, have 4-5 small meals rather than three large meals, chew your food well, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime - have 8-10 glasses of water for proper digestion - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming for 20-30 min, also do yoga, deep breathing for 10-15 min family morning to keep your body fit.

Dear Lybrateuser, -To reduce your BP you have to follow some lifestyle changes - increase your fibre intake in the diet, have more of fruits & vegetables, whole grains, legumes including pulses, beans, lentils, peas, nuts, have low fat milk & milk products, healthy fats as in olive, canola oils, seafood including tuna, Indian Salmon, avocados, nuts -avoid fried, processed & junk foods - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, playing games, also do yoga, meditation & deep breathing, daily morning for 5-10 min - avoid salty, fried, processed & junk foods - destress by reading, listening to music, playing games, follow a hobby, sleep well for 7-8 hrs at night - check BP regularly - if not much improvement then you will require medication.

Dear doctor To lower the BP we have to reduce salt or sodium. Is there anything substitute for sodium. Is there any harm if food is taken without salt Is salt or sodium is necessary to our body. Which medicine is there for BP other than BP Tablets.

Hello, there is no substitute for sodium. You can start salt with low sodium content i. E. Lona salt. Sodium is necessary for the body. Less of serum sodium causes disturbances in the brain's function. Bpcan even be controlled with regular exercise.

Aspirin is a blood thinner for heart patients, it can lead to acidity , ulcers in stomach and tendency to bleed more from any site like minor cuts and bruises , 2nd medicine is a Statin and new studies are showing it to be toxic to liver , leads to dementia and some doctors are giving twice a week to Reduce cholesterol , Some doctors advice people to reduce cholesterol through diet instead of medicines

Dear Mr. First, loose weight. Avoid heavy fried food at night. Give a gap between eating and sleeping of 2 hours or more. Stop smoking. Do medium exercise like walking and get a cardiac check up done.

Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one cup of water. If you use freshly ground black pepper, then just add one-quarter teaspoon. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. Do this daily for at least three months. .take pranacharya medohar rasayn twice a day. Medohar guggul 2-2 twice a day. And pranacharya slim capsule 1-1 twice a day. .avoid junk food. Oily food. Fermented food. Alcohol consumption. Sugar.milk products and sweets. Take oats and cereals more. And do pranayama early in the morning and walk for atleast 45 minutes a day. And do exercises. Do not sleep immediately after taking meal.

When sophisticated tests are normal, why do you bother about a basic test like ecg which shows different rates at 12 places. I will not suggest you to go for a 13th test.

You need. A regular follow up by your cardiologist. Cholesterol should be low. Diabetes to be controlled. Stop smoking. Olive oil for cooking. Plenty of vegetable and fruits. Exercise. Meditation. Treadmill test every year.

You must be under stress to have BP and to some extent diabetes so early in life (I don't know how long you have had these problems, though). You should meet with a counselor and talk about your feelings and things that are causing you stress. In the meantime do some of these recommendations very faithfully if it meets your approved diet plans too: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem-solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position, you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food. You may also include these noted foods that are good for your brain health: Brain-Friendly Foods MIND stands for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. But the MIND approach “specifically includes foods and nutrients that medical literature and data show to be good for the brain, such as berries,” says Martha Clare Morris, ScD, director of nutrition and nutritional epidemiology at Rush University Medical Center. You eat things from these 10 food groups: •Green leafy vegetables (like spinach and salad greens): At least six servings a week •Other vegetables: At least one a day •Nuts: Five servings a week •Berries: Two or more servings a week •Beans: At least three servings a week •Whole grains: Three or more servings a day •Fish: Once a week •Poultry (like chicken or turkey): Two times a week •Olive oil: Use it as your main cooking oil. •Wine: One glass a day You avoid: •Red meat: Less than four servings a week •Butter and margarine: Less than a tablespoon daily •Cheese: Less than one serving a week •Pastries and sweets: Less than five servings a week •Fried or fast food: Less than one serving a week.

Dear lybrateuser, - Do warm salt water gargles three times a day - avoid all cold fluids including aerated drinks, have more of warm fluids water, tea, coffee, soup - mix 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder in a cup of warm milk & have twice a day - take syrup Chericof, 2 teaspoonful three times a day - take tablet Sinarest, 1 tablet three times a day after meals - have a well balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables including green leafy & seasonal ones, whole grains, protein foods to boost your immunity.

Dear lybrateuser, -Take adequate rest do not bend , stretch or do any strenuous movement till pain reduces -do hot water fomentation 3-4 times on area which pains -apply pain killer gel three times a day on the area - take a over the counter pain relief tablet , have with water after food.

Hi, I just got to know my ldl is 152 and overall cholesterol is 209. I have started exercising past one month. Do I need to take medication or lifestyle changes and avoiding red meat and fatty food will lower it down. The level was 219 exactly one month back it has lowered but I want it optimum. Rest there is no issue with any other result. Need suggestions.

Physical activity will help to reduce the cholesterol. Try not to eat fried foods, change the oil if in case your oil has too much cholesterol ingredients, take fresh juices, fruits, and eat more antioxidants.
