The very first thing to be done when you wake up in the morning is to bend your back backwards. This corrects your posture since you are in a bent posture whole night. Hydrate yourself with 10-12 glasses of water per day. This is a good nutrition to your stiff and painful back Do some regular stretches like bending sideways, bending backwards Avoid sitting for a longer time and always bend from your knees down to pick up or lift anything from thr floor if needed Feel free to ask further questions.

Hi my right leg knee is paining too much (like stiffing) since 3 months while getup from bed in morning everyday and also while sitting down for more than 15min etc and also im having Uric acid problem since 2years, but now I consult the orthopedist before 1.5month my uric acid level is 5.9 I taken the medicines, ointment for pain but im having severe pain in back side of the knee. Is it arthritis? What to do, im now in saudi.

Hello lybrate user do knee joint smooth and pain free exercises. Either uric acid level is high exercises prevent stiffness. Avoid raw tomatoes, palak, cheese, blackgram less quantities of cereals in meal. Plenty of water intake.

My right hand got swollen and is painful when I carry heavy things or I write anything. Passed 8 days is very painful at night yesterday I had gone to physiotherapists but did not gave exact answer for it. Today I had gone my family physician he told it's a golfers elbow and suggested me injections for it. Can you explain what it is and exact treatment for it. Normally exercise I do. But it pain at night. Even same is happening with my left hand also. Suggest me treatment.

Hello lybrate-user don't worried use brace or crap bandaging on your elbow and avoid so much movement of your elbow do icing for 15 mins two times a day and take therapeutic ultrasound in physiotherapy clinic for 7 min (7 days) for further consultation contact me.

My back is paining since last 2 weeks earlier I got catch in back in year 2013 after some treatments it got recovered but not fully after some days it is started paining again. So 1 Dr. Suggested me for MRI in MRI found some abnormalities. Now I can not in some positions some Dr. Said this is slip disk some are say bulge issues some suggested only for stretching exercise but still pain is there after all such practices.

Mr. lybrate-user If you have got your MRI done and if it is diagnosed that you are having disc bulge then stertching exercises alone will not work, along with stretching exercises you will have to learn the core strengthening exercises & if possible then I would suggest you to go to a physiotherapist who has specialization in manual therapy as manual therapy will help in stretching your muscles which have gone into shortening position, will help in decompression of your disc that is causing you pain and stregthening of your spine supporting muscles which is the main thing so that you do not have this kind of replase again and again. Exercises that you will learn you will have to do everyday.

Try this for joint pains try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Knee Pain: As arthritis is very common that you get generally bilaterally. Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. Climbing up and down stairs requires enormous efforts by the body and the heart needs to pump more blood to your limbs to make them work. It is a normal phenomenon and is exaggerated in old age. I would advise you not to use stairs too much. Drunk lot of fluids and keep yourself hydrated. Move your ankles and feet before you get up from during our lying position, in order to pull back blood from your lower limbs to your heart. Regards.

You will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your back pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset.I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias ( electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs.
