Right elbow fractured. Screw implemented 3 screw. One taken out. Two are still in. Extension and flexion not 100%. Its approx 20% less. Done 4 month regular physiotherapy and proposed exercise. Need solution. Want 100% movement. please suggest)

Dear lybrate-user, elbow stiffness is a common problem following elbow surgeries. Sometimes the implant could be blocking movements. However most of the times stiffness is due to scar tissue formation in and around the joint, or sometimes due to excessive new bone formation (myositis ossificans). After permission from your primary surgeon, get a consultation from a sports or arthroscopy surgeon. Sports surgeons would be able to assess if the movements can be improved non-surgically or through key-hole surgery/ arthroscopy. Subsequently with continuation of exercises you would be able to maintain near complete movements in your elbow. Hope that helps. Let me know if I could be of further help.

I am 35 years old male, got back pain 5 days ago while doing situps, taken nevoron injection got relief, now taking neorelax tablet. Had bed rest for 4 days. Came to work today with the waist belt. Is my case worrisome?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If your pain is mild and localized to your lower back region, do not worry too much since this is your first episode and it could be just a muscular strain. My advice would be to continue with conservative form of management including rest, ice packs locally, local analgesic sprays, short course anti-inflammatory medication as you are already taking. I am not a big fan of belts for support, so maybe you can avoid that. Do not bend forwards acutely, lift heavy weights or engage in long travels till your pain completely subsides and take care of your posture at home and also in your office. Normally pain should be better in 2-3 weeks time, please let me know if it is not settling/increasing etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

I havr pain in my wrist for last 1 week. What should I do?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist,
I havr pain in my wrist for last 1 week. What should I do?
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are many causes of wrist pain, it can be due to inflammation of tendons around the wrist, can be secondary to swelling, ligamentous strain or injury etc. If there is only localized pain with no other s/s of inflammation, start with conservative management like ice packs, anti inflammatory medication, wrist brace for 2-3 weeks and then let me know. If it does not improve, we might have to get a few investigations done for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

You need a proper sports injury physiotherapist session which work on your injured shoulder. Starting with simple hot fomentation, rhythmic exercises, isometric exercises, isotonic exercises gradually move towards exercises with light weights to medium weight exercises according to your need which gives your joint proper stability by improving the strength.
